And General Hellmuth is the face of the scandal.

I bet Phil is not happy at all about that article especially with him being the front picture. He was very adamant about him not losing credibility in the poker world and always being known for his morals and ethics. Anyways, I talked to Mark Kandler, head of security dept today and he said that it is in fact true that they are going to be allowing anyone to retrieve their hand histories. He also gave the 2-4 week timeline, to which I seemed a bit dismayed. Once again though he assured me that there is absolutely no chance that we wont be receiving another round of refunds. So if you feel you havent been properly refunded, id suggest emailng UB for your hand histories because he told me there is a list of people waiting for hand histories.
09-19-2008 , 06:21 PM
People wanting hand histories should definitely call and talk to someone. E-mailing gets you almost nowhere with them.

Getting my HH's now.

So I decided to call Security Dept yesterday and to be honest, the guy sounded liek a nervous little 12 year old. All he kept saying to me was liek 99.9% of the affected have been refunded and that I should email Security@ultimatebet.com and he would forward my request to his supervisor. And then HE HUNG UP ON ME.
So I went ahead and emailed security and asked what the deal was and if i can have my hand histories from May 2006- August 2006, the dates I felt I was affected.
And once again, they send me that **** generic email from July 2008 stating that they are still working on the case...

What the **** Ultimate Bet?

I told them I would not be back to their site until I received all of my hand histories, dating back to when I played 50nl in '04.

Sorry if this has already been answered, but what ever happened to the cheaters? What country's jurisdiction will they fall under?

Could this cause a multinational sactioning body to be formed or a US sactioning body such as the Nevada Gaming Board?

Are they serious about the 99.9% have been refunded? I was under the impression that this second round was going to be just as big if not bigger than the first wave of refunds.
09-23-2008 , 11:28 PM
That is what the **** ****** on the phone told me, but the second lady I talked to seemed to tell me different. She said that they are still conducting the investigation, and that they get 1000s of requests a day to be refunded, and they are "weeding out the false accusations" so they can get to us real people that were cheated.

Thus once again proving that everyone at UB is all on a different level, and personally I think they are BSing this whole situation and fwiw i hope they all *****.

Whoever told you 99.9% of players have received their money was wrong. Also, people with hand histories, were the superusers playing heads up a lot or just 6 max?
09-26-2008 , 02:47 PM
I want to put out a name to watch on the 10 sng tables, always playing 5 or 6, acts like a bot, never talks, and invariably is inthe money, it is semiclearer. Someone check it and see if i am wrong or not. also, thought you could only play 3 sng's at a time on ub????thanks for some help, maybe check histories or give me some advice on how to do so...
thanks.

So, whatever happened to the 60 Minutes broadcast? Last I heard it was to be aired in September. Well, September is almost over. Tonight is the last shot for this month. Will it be on?
09-28-2008 , 11:40 AM
Does not look like it will be airing in September.
Here is the link http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/1998/...ain13502.shtml to what is on tonight's season premier, I do not see it. Maybe in October?

They wanted to wait for the Russ news to drop and the accusation of him being the thief. The show will air later in October or early November.

ub ever send out the 2nd set of refunds from this scandal? They announced the 2nd set about 3 months ago I think saying it would be released "in the coming weeks". I haven't received mine.

They have announced a definitive date of nov 3rd for all refunds to be paid out by. You can take that fwiw.

I used to play at UB from 04' to 06' and having read ALL this drama and the name "fred" being involved with a lot of the shady goings on,I remember a player winning the 200k back to back and "part" of his SN was "fred".

I tried yahooing his name and while it did list some very minor cashes in the last couple of years,I saw no mention of his winning back to back 200k's BUT I remember VERY WELL checking the completed tourny results at that time and he was listed as winning back to back and I thought that was just too weird....even then!

He may be perfectly legit but after reading about all the scheming and scamming at UB and the name "fred" continually being associated with it,my mind immediately went back to those 2 wins.

Where would you run to if you were Russ Hamilton? Can't go to Costa Rica, since there are too many poker pros there that would recognize him. Can't go anywhere there are a lot of online poker players, since, even though they are less likely to recognize him, they are more likely to have been cheated by him. He is obviously a degenerate gambler, so can he go anywhere where gambling is allowed and risk being recognized?

If he still has the money he stole he will be allright if he is careful and he can stay away from gambling, but then he is a degenerate, so he will either be caught or at the very least destitute. He may get off'd and we will never know about it.

Hey guys!

The "news" of UB cheating has now been up in the Swedish press, this article is from "aftonbladet" Swedens biggest leading newspaper and internet site.

http://www.aftonbladet.se/poker/article3435604.ab

They are talking about a worldchampion from the USA that has stolen 420 million SEK, (about 70 million US $)

I don't understand how UltimateBet doesn't have any mention of this on their website. I would have thought they would have already done so, especially if they have already returned 6.1 million dollars. There is nothing on their home page, nothing in their blog section, nor anything in their news. Unless it’s really well hidden, I don't see it, not even a blurb at least acknowledging the news report.

It says under their security section, "Earning and keeping players' trust is essential to UltimateBet.com's success. Therefore, protecting the security and privacy of players, as well as ensuring the integrity of games, are driving forces for UltimateBet.com's daily operations and corporate ethics."

Really, it is?

I can see why companies would want hide wrongdoings, hoping it will just go away. However, to gain/regain trust, shining the spotlight and turning against such things is the best way to do it. I mentioned in another post how Kathie Lee Gifford turned to an advocate against child slave labor after her scandal unfolded. It was absolutely the best thing she could have ever done. IMO. I would go as far as to say UB should take some of their rake and allocate it to some sort of consumer advocate group. In any event, I'm just one of many, many customers and these are just my 2 cents.

UB's press releases can be found in their news section. Most players probably don't know anything about the cheating scandal, so obvious why they don't promote their own incompetence and wrongdoings to their players. I just want my money back. This Nov 3rd date better stick.

Wow, I had not come to High Limit forum and had never seen this thread before.

I am glad so many of you have been paid, I did not get any refunds yet but have played tens of thousands of hands in mid to high NL and Limit at UB like most of you ever since 2004.

I was told today by Ultimate Bet that they will comply with the Nov 3rd deadline for all refunds.

Maybe some of us will start getting refunds sooner hopefully.
