Done 45mins of 90 mins = 50%. Spent some time on this last night after TKD (teaching and training). I only got through 15mins of the video as there was a lot of stuff for me to take in in this part. In fact I need to go through it again so maybe it should not even be counted!! I think I will carry on and then go back again next month. Still a touch behind on this goal but will do some of this this weekend.

Done 7/10. Good one with Typoking last night. Found a couple of bad plays. Definitely made a couple of unnecessary plays trying to get villains to fold in spots where I had little fold equity. Also I caught myself playing loose after being card dead which is the sort of thing I am usually strong on so very angry with myself for this. I should get rid of that immediately though so not too concerned.

I never know how much mental/motivation stuff to include in here if I am honest. I am very fortunate to be strong in these areas and would love to help other people to improve in these areas. The thing is, the strategy part of poker is available to most people to learn through various sources, the reason people do not achieve success is because of (lack of) attitude and determination and work ethic etc.

This counts for so many things in life. People put their efforts into the 10% of things that just do not matter, for example someone trying to be good at weightlifting spends all their focus on having the best shoes/weights/equipment, and this 10% is just not necessary until you have the initial 90% completed. The initial 90% is almost completely covered by WORKING YOUR BUTT OFF!!!

Everybody let me know if you want me to include more posts about my drive for success etc.

Would be good to see your overall graph every time you post a weekly one. I know you started off losing and it would be good to see you claw your way to profit (if I see you do it, maybe I can turn mine around too!)

Played 59.2 hours (84.6%). Month is 75.8% old. Happy to stay ahead, going for romantic weekend with the wife on Friday.

Done 8/10. Great one with Typoking last night. Really saw how much EV+ there is out there by being good at 3b and 4b game. I think sometimes I get lazy with this and don't attack weak ranges enough. Did after that though!!

Something has come to my attention lately about motivation...

People (especially strangers) often send me messages asking me how it is I am so motivated and how I have been successful (fwiw I do not really describe myself as "successful" by the terms/definitions they are talking about which is material terms, I do, however describe myself as "successful" when I talk about the changes I have made to my life over recent years*).

People think it comes naturally. It is not true. Success is available to EVERYBODY.

People think you can watch a Youtube video with Rocky in it and become "motivated". It is not true. It is short term.

You have got to dig deep. You have got to work at it. You have got to become a new, better, much improved person. You have got to CHANGE!

*My changes (so far) are... Gave up smoking (8 years now), stopped drinking 7 days per week (now one), invested time and money in myself to give myself a better future, got into TKD to get fit and improve my whole self, opened myself up emotionally (still a WIP) and now have a wife and family (I never believed this possible for me 8 years ago), plus many many other small things.

What stakes/site are you playing at now and what BRM are you using? Have you ever tried hopping around bonus whoring to boost the BR and do you think its worth it?

Hi mate. I play at Stars NL10. Should be ready for my second shot at NL25 in November. I will move up at 30 buy ins. Will probably take a 10 buy in shot.

Not really into bonus whoring as at my stakes and with my volume it seems a waste trying to clear a bonus when I could maybe do these things at say NL100 and make more money. It really is not about the money to me yet, it is all about learning. When I get to NL100 or NL200 I will get into that more.
Another smaller issue is at the times I play there are not many games running anyway so Stars is best.
