I won't be doing any gambling though, just gunna play a bunch of live poker and hopefully run up a nice chunk of cash to travel with. Have plenty in the bank but would love to free roll a trip out of a week in vegas. Thinking of either flying to somewhere in europe (germany? austria?) or road tripping around the western US.

Speaking of gambling, I went on a kinda sick heater at roulette a couple weeks ago in Tahoe. Sick in two ways: how fast I ran it up and how fast I gave it back. I was already drunk when we got to the casino around 9pm. I only brought around $400 since I had a 1k gambling budget for the trip. First roulette table I see (I love/hate roulette, wish the rake wasn't so damn high) I put $100 down on black. Boom, black and we double. Let it ride. Black again. Pick up $400, tip a red and head off to a pretty solid comedy show. Got a few drinks and by the end I was ready to really gamble.

When the show gets out I grab my friend and we go to the nearest roulette table. I look at the dealer (ball handler?) and it's the same lady that doubled me twice before the show. I'm pretty hammered at this point so I'm all excited and feel like a run is coming. I put down $100 on red and double it.

I let the red ride and put another $100 on 2nd 12. Both hit (2nd 12 pays 2:1). At this point I turned $100 into $800, not bad for a few spins but nothing crazy. Everything kinda blurs at this point, but I know for about an hour I was winning. My standard bet was $100 on red, $100 on 2nd 12, $100 on the middle row, and some $5 bets on numbers (13, 33, 30 and randoms - I hit 13 three times). I was almost always winning one bet, usually two, and a couple times I hit all 3. My stack peaked at $2600 in black plus some stacks of $5, so maybe 3k. Plus $400 that my friend had run up from a black I tossed her when we sat down (hers to keep, but it got run up from my original hundred)

At this point I was absolutely smashed. Apparently I smoked a cigarette that I bummed and was fumbling and dropping it all over the felt. I hovered between 2-3k for a little while and at some point decided I was going big with it. This was a mistake. My lucky dealer who had been spinning the wheel for at least an hour had just gotten pushed. This was clearly a sign to move on, but I've never been one to pay attention to signs. I put down $200 each on red, 2nd 12, middle row, and odd. Everything bricked except odd. Did this maybe 5 more times and slowly bled down to my last $800. In the meantime my friend had lost all her chips as well. Repeated the bet one last time and voila, the run from $100 -> ~$3400 -> $0 was complete. And honestly, I had a great ****ing time. I went there to gamble and I gambled harder than I ever have. Plus now I stay for free at pretty much any Harrah's property Sunday-Thursday

Also, my friend pocketed almost $300 from my stack when I wasn't looking and gave it to me the next day, so I still tripled up on the night. #rungoodking
I laughed out loud at this last bit. Nice story but you should really avoid roulette and craps and all other -ev games especially when drunk. Although I guess when would you do it sober?

Meh, I planned on gambling that night and I had a budget set aside for it. Usually when I take a trip to Tahoe or Vegas I do a bit of -ev gambling for fun - it's just part of my entertainment budget. The problem I've noticed is that it used to be really exciting for me to place $20 bets on blackjack - now that feels like nothing. I have to play at least $50/hand for it to be fun, and I'm worried as poker desensitizes me to money more and more this # will continue to go up. Right now it's not a problem though, just crazy how fast things change.

Just got to Vegas yesterday. Here until the end of August. First 2/5 session went well: in for $1500 out for $3000 in 7.5 hours. Looks like I'll be holding down the venetian 2/5 for a week or so.

I also started staking another 2+2 member, RubRub, for 100nl. Guy's got a strong work ethic and a lot of heart. First time I staked or coached anyone and it's pretty cool - I'm realizing that I don't actually think about why I do what I do all that often anymore. Kinda just been on autopilot doing the same stuff that has had success, but not innovating - coaching really helps with that. I think it's gunna be a really successful venture all around.

Nice first day in LV, would suggest checking out the 2/5@encore which plays a little deeper as well occasionally

You should come down and play in LA before you go down Mexico way. Commerce Casino is giving away five Mercedes-Benz's on Aug 31. Make a full house and you get a ticket into the drawing.

Can I get staked to play you heads up? =Þ

Pretty sure they only had 1 table yesterday when I checked, Venetian had 4. What's the max buy at encore? Venetian is 1k which is about as deep as I like to be anyway

Will definitely be stopping by the commerce, just don't know when yet. 5/10 HU 4 rollz, Rick?

Commerce Casino when you get here. We have to play at least 20k deep though so it really is hu4rollz. No staking. No stopping until one of us has it all. Don't worry, after I take your last penny I will stake you to play online.

20k deep wouldn't be HU4rollz for me.

I need a time/date. I'm in vegas and could be over there in 3-4 hours. But you obviously aren't serious

Played 5 hours at the Venittyan yesterday. Ran some ridiculous bluffs that somehow got through.

Not sure I even like this one because I'm massively over bluffing, but w/e live fish call/call/fold way too much.

Open Q10o in the CO to 20, SB 3bets to 65, BB calls, I call.

Flop 234 all spades, I have 10s. Checks to me, I bet 135 into ~200, sb folds and bb calls.

Turn 3x, bb check, I bet 250 into 470, call

Pot is 970, fish had ~500. River is 5x. He checks, I desperation jam and he snap folds. I think this was spew but I'm glad it got through.

Same orbit I open red 66 in EP and get 3 callers. Flop 942ddx. Checks to button who bets 50 into 120, only I call. Turn 3d. Check to V who bets 110 into 220. I call. River is another 3. Check, V bets 110 again into 440. I put him all in for his last 400 and he folds and mutters something about getting rivered. lol ok dude

Guy folded KK yesterday pre for like 120bb 5bet shove. The lady who shoved looked tilted af

Had some pretty sick run good in a hand late in the session. I open AKo utg +1 over a limper and get a caller in MP and the limper comes along. Flop AK8. I bet 65 into 100, MP tanks. About 30 seconds into the tank the limper gets up and goes to throw his drink away. As he's doing so MP folds, the dealer mucks MP's and quickly mucks the limper's hand. Limper turns around as the dealer is getting the cards together and flips out. Says he didn't fold, etc etc he's really upset. I'm sitting there quietly like fml this guy probably had Aq and was stacking. He was this 85 year old whale that I've played with before and he was just getting it in all over the place. He requests a table change and says he's so upset because he had pocket 8's. Having played 15 or so hours with him, I believe him. He's a spewy whale but I've never seen him lie about a hand or even get upset. Usually he smiles/laughs and rebuys. I almost told him I had AK but I figured it would be a huge needle if he really had 88 so I kept my mouth shut. All I know for sure is that I hope he's back today

Anyway, +$415 yesterday. +$1915 on the trip over 12 hours. I'm gunna try really hard to play 8 hours today, but I doubt I can. Live poker sucks the energy out of me like nothing else. I can play online 12-14 hours/day but 4-5 hours at the table feels like an eternity. Gotta grind through it though. run good play good here we come

How much would be then? And I want every nickel. I want you to sell all of your possessions including the clothes on your back (you can rent a tuxedo) and you play with every penny you own on the table versus me otherwise we don't play. Time and date is as soon as you could make that happen =P.

Idk why I'm bothering to reply other than its amusing, but you realize you would have to match whatever I put on the table? I know you won a 16k blackjack freeroll, but even with that do you have enough to put 20k down?

played a quickie this afternoon. 3 hours at the venetian, +$624. gunna go to bellagio or wynn for some 5/10 in a couple hours

You weren't lying dude. Just got back from playing in it for ~3 hours. That was some of the fishiest play I've seen in a while. Hands down best game I've played so far in Vegas. Still managed to drop 3k but w/e, fish run good too.

Were you playing tonight, ~ 1am -4am?

Just got back from Vegas.

Venetian 2/5 Results

Hours: 23.5
Profit: +$2560

Bellagio 5/10 Results

Hours: 8
Profit: -$3622

Cumulative Results

Hours: 31
Profit: -$1062

Last night's 5/10 game at bellagio (12am-5am) was insane. I don't even think I can do it justice with a description, but I'll try. For starters, almost every hand was 5/10/20, and at least once an orbit it was double straddled to 5/10/20/40. Within my first couple orbits this guy sits down to my right, buys in for 1500 and proceeds to donk it off his first hand.

He opened AsQx in mp and got 4-5 callers. Flop Q64ssx. V bets close to pot and gets called by the button, all else fold. Turn is 3s. V check raises the button and there's like 900 in the pot going to the river, ~1100 effective. River is a 3 (Q6433sssxx). V bets around 350, button shoves and V goes into the tank and starts telling his girlfriend the river killed his action blah blah blah. The way he's talking I thought he had a flush. He finally calls and shows his AsQx and V tables 63o for the scoop. V talks to his girlfriend for 5 minutes about the hand. Some memorable lines: "He could've had AQ too, he plays it the same way", "He could've just had the flush" (?) This V ended up down around 4-5k and called it quits within an hour.

Soon after V1 sat down V2 shows up and buys in for ~$700. His first hand UTG opens to 30 and he asks if he's allowed to raise. The dealer says yes and explains the rules a little. V2 makes it 50. Obviously it took everything in my power not to jizz myself right then, but it was a premature celebration as V2 busted his $700 within one orbit and slunk off into the night. Wish I remembered the hand, but with all the ridiculousness that went on later it doesn't stand out

V3, whale of whales, shows up sometime around 1 am. He spewed a couple buyins before heading off to blackjack, but an hour later he returned with 8k in yellows. This guy was beyond hammered and tried to buy in for all 8k. They didn't let him - but he kept it all on the table and we all just agreed it was fine and he was always playing for 1500 - unless he won a pot in which case it would be 1500 + the pot (that didn't happen much though). He was ordering drinks like crazy, and he asked me to get him one each time also so he could get two drinks at a time. At one point he had a drink in front of him and 3 full ones next to him on the table as he ordered 2 more

For the most part he was just playing way too many hands and folding waaaaay too much, but he also did some pretty funny stuff you don't see everyday. He made it 100 to go UTG with K10o and got a caller from the SB. Flop came down KT2ssx and he shipped 1400 into 200. AJss called and lost. Next hand whale opens to 500, I look down at AQo UTG+2 and ship it for 1500, whale tank folds A9s. lemme get some action one time lol

At one point mr. whale makes a speech about how Todd Brunson told him that he never bluffs, because he doesn't need to. And now mr. whale's whole life is changed and now he never bluffs because Mr. Brunson is right, he doesn't need to bluff to win. Predictably, 5 hands later mr. whale runs a massive bluff and gets snapped down in hilarious fashion.

Whale: no ****ing idea
(some loose/passive regish player): A3hh

Whale open CO to 40, SB call. (90)

Flop: J42hxx. Check, whale bet 60, call. (210)
Turn: 8x. Check, whale bet 250, call. (710)
River: 2. Check, whale bet 700, snap call. whale looks dumbfounded before quickly dozing off again

Will probably think of some more hands/stories later. I couldn't run good at the Bellagio to save my life, but the games were incredible. Can't wait to go back.

Yup, good old live poker lol. Why do you hate the 66 hand?

Played a bit of live poker this week, first at the CA Grand and last night back at Stones. The 2/5 game at the Grand had 3-4 props in it the whole time plus a couple regs. None of them were particularly good, but the game was never great so I only played 3 hours and left down $530.

The 2/5 at Stones was incredible though. Plenty of fish and fishregs, although there was a reg or two that knew what they were doing. The whole table had already agreed to straddle before I sat down so I kept it going. Started running good and stacking people immediately. Flopped a full house with pocket 3's, flopped a couple straights, flopped some sets... it went well. Unfortunately the game broke around 2 hours in when I was up $2400. There was a reg who was willing to keep going heads up so I stayed and played another 2 hours. Always fun to play some heads up, and he was a cool guy, but it was -ev for both of us. We should've made it 5/10 for time rake ($2/drop every hand that saw a flop).

Anyway, I ended the night up $2000, but the other guy only won ~$150, meaning between rake and tips we gave away $250 from the table to the house in 2 hours. Ridiculous. Had a great time though and walked away 2k richer so I can't complain. Just won't be playing live heads up again unless it's time rake.
