Ok, so this is in reference to the 98o cash game hand from last page.

OTT I think villian's value range is something like: QT, 65s, T6s, Q5s/Q6s, 55/66 (but 66 would be really bad/surprising given flop)

His bluff range might be something like: 98cc or 98hh, J9, KJ, K9 (discounted to 1/4 of combos)

Against this range I only have 20.2% equity, and I needed somewhere around ~27%, so it was a losing play. I think I can let this go and continue better draws. KJ has 50% equity against this range. Didn't realize the equity would be that drastically different between those hands. This is why I need to be in the lab more.

When he checks river I expect him to have a hand like K9/KJ a lot. I also think he would slow down with most or all of his 2pairs like Q5s/T6s because the straight hits the river and I could also have a hand like KQ for top 2 now. I figured an overbet would get him off of almost everything except a trapped straight, which is pretty unlikely. I also liked blocking the 9 because his most likely straight is J9. I'm curious to check the HH later and see what he folded, but my guess is at worst he had Kx and likely had some trashy 2p he didn't feel good about after the river.

V can definitely have all the sets as well as 54s in the LJ (at least I would). And while he won't have 63s type hands, I'm probably not defending 32s/62s, so I don't even have that many more 2p hands than V

I did consider c/raising, but I didn't want to go to war vs the other big stack with 3 players below 15bb. Also, it would be a super thin value c/raise, and my hand is way too strong otf to turn into a bluff, so all in all I like my play. Vs a button open I'm more inclined to c/r for value

Just got back from viewing an apartment in vallejo, about an hour outside of the city. It wasn't that bad. Rent is 1300/month plus utilities, which is almost triple what I pay now but it's the cheapest I've found. I saw that there's a unit for sale at the same complex and the all in cost of a mortgage (including HOA/taxes) would be 1100. Would love to just buy it, but 20% down is outta reach for me. Thinking about trying to borrow some money for a down payment... Don't wanna be burning 1300/mo when I could pay 1100 and own the place.

Ugh... I just want a place that isn't a slum, isn't obscenely expensive, and allows a pet. Apparently that just doesn't exist in California

Was under the impression villain was UTG. If not then yeah all your points are valid.

PS move to Thailand.

Ah true.

For me I'm a similar situation to you I think. I'm currently paying $500/week in rent and just simply can't justify that when my lease expires in a couple weeks. I can get the same 1 bedroom apartment for a third of the price in TL. That and there's less distractions over there I suppose, good opportunity to focus on working hard while saving some cash imo.

Jesus christ. Didn't realize thailand is so cheap. I'm also paying 500/month (with roommates) and would be happy to pay the same for my own place over there and live like a king lol. What city you going to/recommend?

you got me thinking, meale. maybe 6-12 months of grinding hard while living cheap is exactly what I need. no distractions

Come south a couple hours to Mexico and you get ridiculously good prices compared to 30 mins north in San Diego. I pay 1100/month for my 3bedroom/2bathroom condo that has a private beach, pools, jacuzzis inside and outside, club house, gym, movie theater in Tower 3, dog park etc etc, sweet property overall. A similiar spot in San Diego would run 5000-10,000 per month depending on which neighborhood/beach/how new. Like getting beach front property for any realistic amount of money, especially when renting, just isn't a thing as far as I know in San Diego area heh

GL on the grind, gg last night in the Bovada bird

I'm going to North Pattaya, decent beach/relaxed environment but also not that far from the action/nightlife. Plenty of goog options all throughout the country though.

For sure Meale. I looked into Thailand but Mexico is probably a better option for me. I could still drive back to California in 30-45 min and I'd be a short flight from all my friends. There's a beachfront luxury 2bdr condo for 1500/mo that's calling my name rn...

oh heeeeeelllllll no haha. I have zero interest in ever playing on Stars. They have good software, but terrible games, no rakeback, and they're the worst company in the industry in how they treat their players

but yeah, I could live in a luxurious beachfront condo in Mexico for the same price as a slum an hour away from where I actually want to live in California. puts things in perspective a little

2nd the notion that MX only makes way more sense in your spot, hopefully, u can score some good nugs though.

Spoiler:
he high, he smokin that ****

get down there, hit the beach in the AMs or early afternoon with a run/swim/plyos, **** the gym. huge savings on rent in, seemingly, an awesome place for a young, single, poker pro and then that leads to higher hourly at the tables. LOOK OUT!! jelly

Mexico sounds like a solid plan. Agreed stars not worth any cash grind, there's prob some tourneys here and there that would be good value though. Imagine something like the sunday million would fall into that.

Been thinking about how to get bud down there. Done it before, but it was a schwag bag. Figure I'll just take a 6 month supply with me so I don't have to worry about it. They only stop cars going into the USA, not leaving (pretty sure, gotta double check haha)

I love running on the beach and going for a swim after. def gunna work that into the morning or afternoon routine once I'm down there. Gunna be a very +ev time all around I hope

ooooooo I totally forgot how big the stars GT's are compared to Bovada. hell ya, I'll be in the stars tournament streets for sure. Also, I gotta double check I can play on Bovada or Bodog in mexico. I'm 99% sure I can, but that would be a deal breaker

Not sure what you'll find on craigslist, I was just in contact with a few realtors before moving down. TJ is certainly much more expensive than Rosa, I personally couldn't ever live in TJ as it's too crowded for my liking, but know some people that prefer it. Playas de TJ is in between the 2 and I like the area a lot, there's not really any grinders that live there though. Honestly there's not many poker players left in Rosa-TJ put together anyway

There's multiple guys that live here and cross to go grind live in SD/LA, makes where we live a really attractive option as those games are still close (esp SD obv)

Border has changed a lot and it's gotten tougher though you still shouldn't have trouble crossing with bud. You can get cali medi down here though, some of the markups are a bit steep though. A Rosa poker bro actually ended up at La Mesa prison in TJ for getting caught entering Mexico from the US with a few OZs

Oh and you can play Bovada from here, you get a weird message once in a while when logging in or going on the site, but none of my buddies nor I have ever had problems playing

All really good information, thank you. What happened with the poker bro? How did he end up getting searched? Did they smell it? Random check? How well hidden did he have it? And how'd he get out? I can get $100/oz of some dank here so I really don't wanna pay ridic markup on mexico, but I will to stay outta prison lol
