The 23♠♠ hand was pretty huge...that was about a 1500 pot. Today was great bc I didn't have to many big spots where I had to think a lot...for instance I had KK in the co in a straddled pot utg made it 35 2 callers I made it 175 I caller flop was 6 high rainbow and guy shoves for 250 I call. Same guy limp shoves TT into my QQ for 300.

One hand I might have miss played a little but I'm not to unhappy about is guy opens for 20 in ep I 3 bet QQ to 85 he calls I bet 110 on a KQJ rainbow he raises to 325 with 475 behind and I jam and he folds KT. He might have shoved a brick turn or at least bet out...but there's a decent amount of the deck I really don't want to see so I don't think I mind jamming. Honestly I thought he was gunna call it off with such a big raise. If board is KQ5r that's obv a different story.

On big spot that was really funky was another straddled pot guy utg opens for 35 1 caller I called btn with 54ss both blinds and straddle call. Flop is 8s7s2daniac leads for 200 from bb, straddle maniac calls, we are all 1300+ deep here so I just flatted. 3c turn and bb shoves starddle folds and I fold. Maniac shows T7o and straddle says he had K2ss. 6s one time????

But today's session was one of the easiest and straight forward I have played yet.

March Recap:

March was a grind!!

I started off with a pretty good start and then hit my first pretty big downswing. Just couldn't seem to find any good spots, have some hands hold up or keep from spewing off a little bit.

Then I had the greatest week ever, went 5/5 in cashing and made over 5k. Everything went right that week, I played great and ran decent (except for that 2k pot AA vs 99). I had thought to myself man this is easy, I am going to have a HUGE month. Then of course like clockwork the doomswitch was hit and I was once again in a downswing.

Only this time I couldnt seem to get out of my funk. I would have a winning session then two losing, or two small winning and then one big losing. The frustration started to build. Only once I took a step back and looked at my game did I really start to see I was starting to try and create my own spots and put myself in quite a few marginal spots with marginal holdings. So going into the last week of the month I took the "wait for a better spot line" to heart.

Waiting for a better spot really is not very fun, its actually quite boring especially playing live. When I started being a little more patient a few things happened. My chips in front of me start a lot more constant, there really wasnt a ton of up and down chip stacks. I won a lot more smaller pots and slowly increased my stack over my session instead of yo-yoing up and down. When I did play a big pot I was in position most of the time and I won a lot more big pots than I lost.

My last 3 sessions made my month, exactly +$4500 for the 3. Some of the best poker I have played, the first 2 sessions were more of just staying very patient and finding a hand that connected with the board. Each of these I was only in the game for $500. My last session though I was in for $900, and had a few second best hands show up early. Then the deck just hit me clean in the face. I flopped my 4th set of the week (wasnt kidding about being card dead) and doubled up by fading a combo draw weeeeeeeeee. Then I out flopped KK with 23, got it all in the middle on the flop for a $1500 pot, got my two pair counterfieted on the turn (puke) then boat up river (weeeeee). Then I started getting big pair after big pair in late position with action before me and didnt lose a single medium sized pot I played with them. Ended up having the biggest session of the month.

March Stats:

Played 23 days (29 sessions, included 1/2 while waiting for 2/5 and a few 2/5 table changes)

Month Giraffe:

April Goals:

[ ] Have a 10k month
[ ] Start studying a little more off of the table, books, hhs, discussions with other regs
[ ] Work out 2-3 times a week at least
[ ] Yoga 4-5 times a week
[ ] Do more activities during my off time, instead of relaxing around the apartment
[ ] Start really getting back into golf again

I do want to thank everyone who has been following this thread, its been a fun ride and its been great having yall along the way with the encouragement. Let me know if there is anything that I can do to make this a little more entertaining and enjoyable please.

Have enjoyed following this thread from the start. Congrats on the results. Now that March is over, how did the 167 hours feel? Any burnout or fatigue or do you think that this kind of volume is no big deal and easily repeatable for you?

To be honest I feel great!! 167 hours really wasn't bad at all, I feel that I can put in 200 hours for a few months in a row and be good to go. Any longer than I could be looking at a little bit of burn out. But def not 150-180, thats basically a normal job, just with an hour commute. Although I think that the average American commute time is 45 minutes so it really isnt to atypical.

I think that I put this in a post early. But I have been blessed with the ability to just sit there and play cards consecutive days. I was that way when I played on Poker Stars, pretty much played 6-12 hours/ day for 7 days a week over an 10-11 month period without much burn out.

If I do start feeling burnt out I just take a few days off and good to go. At one point this month I was planning on taking 2 days off in a row...but half way thru my first day off I got the itch to play poker so my break only lasted 1 day lol.

Or I could just be an obsessive degenerate lol

Another North Texas fan

Great thread, I've been playing poker for many years and thought I was at least competent if not good (just unlucky), but I recently realized how little I know about this game. Not one to give up I am now getting training from some very good coaches.

All that to say I'm a fan of what your doing and I plan to make a run up at Winstar by the end of the year. Skills and bankroll permitting

Keep it up and run good

Great start to the month!! +2k

Was a great table for a Tuesday just amazing. Unfortunatly I really didn't have a ton of hands to play so I sat on the sidelines watching 2 guys calling down big bets with 2nd and 3rd pair.

I was in for 600 sitting around 450, one of the fish opens for 15 and the other calls, I called in mp with 89cc and there are 6 total to the flop. We see a JT4r flop, the guy who opens bets 25 1 caller I called and the bb who was kinda tight called also. Q completing te rainbow was the turn. This time the bb leads for 50, 1 guy calls and I raise to 160. BB kinda spazzes and shoves other guy folds and I call of the rest. Not the greatest river card for sure, another Q. But bb tables Q9dd and I ship the 1k pot.

This hand tho is probably one of the absolute craziest ones I have played. My backer was playing at the table and he had just been crushed by the fish sucking out on him, he was stuck a bit. Anyways he opens utg for 20, there are 3 callers including one of the fish on the btn. I look down at QQ in sb and make it 105, the bb cold calls out of no where lol, bc of that call madness ensues. Utg calls, another guy calls, then a short stack shoves for 280 total, the fish then flats the 280 and I shove for 825 total. Bb tanks for a little bit and then folds, my backer calls for 300 total, the other guy ends up folding. Btn says there is to much money out there so he called (he had me covered).

Hands
Me:QQ
Backer:KJss
Shorty:TT
Button:89ss

Board runs out A94Q3 all red weeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

This was the biggest pot I have won ever

Beat: Yu Darvish one freaking pitch away from a perfect game...on the drive up I told my backer that Yu will have a perfect game in his career, woulda been sick to bink it first pitch.

I get so jealous of your 2/5 success.

I took two shots this month and both ended in disaster for me.

Great grind man, keep it up, remember how bad you don't want to go back to wasting your life away on the lot.

Even though I am not having near the success you are, I don't miss the lot one bit.

Thanks!! I was very fortunate to run well at first playing 2/5... Looking back I may have had to go back to the lot if it wasn't for that.

You know that it's just a matter of time for a shot to work out for you and you'll be killing the 2/5 tables.

And you are right...I really don't want to have anything to do the lot again!!

I've been lurking thru your thread...it's really good!! Has a lot more if a personal touch into you as a person I haven't quite been able to capture in this. Partially bc my writing is meh at best...never was a big fan of English classes other than the reading books portion. And the other part is I usually update using my phone bc I'm to lazy to so it back home lol

Even if he loses he still profits if you take it down. It's a second chance of guaranteeing one of you guys will win that pot. What's his cut %50?

I love pwning regs...it's so much fun!!

This is his fear hand...1 limper he limps co sb limps and I raise to 30 from bb with KQhh. Co is the only caller, flop is KK2r. I lead for 35 and he calls...turn is 9c putting flush draw out there, I check and he bets 60 I think for about 15 seconds and call. River is Ts and I lead for 140, he snap calls and mucks. Claims he had AA, if he did ten I was the worst played AA I've ever seen lol
