I mean it's urban dictionary but it is being used as such meaning. That's not to say it's proper language but to say it's homophobic is just not true.

To use it as an a replacement for stupid, unwanted or weird idea is pretty ****ing homophobic. Have a think about that.

Yes, it's urban dictionary - that's kind of important.

Gay never meant lame or stupid, but it came to mean that colloquially - I think it's pretty obvious why that happened. Just because some people started using it that way doesn't mean it's right. The meaning only works because at one point people decided that calling someone a homosexual was an insult, like being homosexual makes someone a lesser person. I really can't understand why anyone would want to defend such a definition (and I don't think you are), or would want to continue using it that way once it was pointed out to them. A lot like "jewing" or "gyping" someone.

This I agree with, which is why I was very specific with my language, and not accusing him of being a homophobe. I'm sure lots of people use "that's so gay" without even thinking about it. Or even if they're aware of the connotation, they don't actually have any hatred or even negative feelings about gay people; they just don't think it's a big deal. But just because we don't know if they're bigoted or not doesn't mean we need to accept their offensive language. And with Rich already on 95 points, a constant problem on our forums, and very obviously knowing why people have an issue with his use of the word yet showing no desire to change, it was an easy ban IMO.
