Wait, what?

Hero UTG+3 ($198) AKss
Villain 1 UTG+2 (covers) ??
Villain 2 BB ($120.39) QQ (red)

Villain 1 opens to $5 and we raise to $18, big blind villain 2 calls and villain 1 calls.

Flop ($54.15) T95ssd

Everyone checks. I could obviously c-bet this but felt like checking this time. Especially with the big blind cold calling I'd rather take the free turn card.

Turn ($54.15) 2d

Villain 2 bets $16 and villain 1 folds. This feels like a draw trying to buy a cheap river card. If that's the case our ace-king high is best. Or he has a weak one pair hand we can maybe get to fold. So we go all-in and villain 2 actually folds and shows QQ. I'm so damn confused. How the hell does he fold queens on that board with that action? Blows my mind.

seems fine to me? At least I don't think it's particularly crazy he folded, but obviously he is fish :P

You have AKss as bluff... what much else? Jamming JJ? TT? 99? AA? KK?, folding a lot as him seems ok.

Lost about $40 today in MTTs, but won $800 overall. Min cashed 2/3 tourneys but the third was the thousandaire maker, in which a min cash is a win. Harder to min cash that one. Good night!

What hands do I check back the flop with though? Maybe TT? It's 3 ways and the board is really wet. I'm probably not even checking back TT there. My line looks FOS. And his bet is inducing bluffs. I guess having queens with the Q of diamonds is blocking a lot of my combo draws but I still think folding is very bad.

"very bad"? lol you need like only 1-2 combos of hands better than AKss in your range for his fold to be "very good"

Of course if you are only ever having AKss then yeah, not a great fold, he has like 65% equity probably vs AKss exactly

Maybe my jam is better than I thought. I really just thought I had the best hand a lot of the time or he had some pocket pair smaller than nines and would maybe fold.

I do that sometimes too, but instead of the "hit post" button it's the "bet" or "raise" button and my hand gets checked, or folded. That sucks.

Thanks, glad to be back, 2021 is going pretty well so far. Plan is to keep kicking ass and taking names. More tourney scores and cash game grindin'.

Just My Luck

Hero SB (covers) JJ (red)
Villain 1 UTG+2 ($83.40) KdKs
Villain 2 BB ($175.35) JJ (black)

Villain 1 opens to $6, UTG+3 calls, we raise to $24, villain 2 cold calls from the BB, villain 1 jams $83.40 total. Weird spot not sure what I should do actually but considering they could both have AK still I don't think jamming is too bad, which is what we do. We jam and villain 2 calls.

We see the bad news. We need hearts to win, or a straight to chop. No more jacks in the deck.

Flop ($442.10) 652hhx

That's a good start.

Turn ($442.10) Qh

Oh my god is it possible?

Spoiler:
River ($442.10) K!!!!

We did the impossible, we scoop with JJvs JJ and KK

Lost a stack with AK vs JJ on AAJ board earlier, but other than that it's smooth sailing. Min cashed 2/3 tourneys we regged and still in the third, the thousandaire maker with a 4x starting stack. Looking good so far.

I'm chip leading the thousandaire maker right now, player 15. On the money bubble, 9 left, 8th gets $200 and top 7 make $1k. Kind of a nerve wracking spot, not sure how much I should be jamming vs folding, please don't let me blow it! I mean I guess I have to keep the pressure on, it got me this far.

Phew!!! Got pretty hairy there at the end. I had 55k in chips and there's a bunch of similar stacks in the 25k range, a couple of shorties so I was jamming pretty wide. I jam T5hh and get called by AA in the big blind and lost half my stack putting me back with the medium stacks and making things nerve wracking again.

The last hand almost was a catastrophe. Blinds 2k-4k 400 ante and the short stack with 7500 chips shoved, the big stack on the button called and then the small blind with 15k chips jams on top!!! Absolutely insane, there's no need for that! He basically blows me off from calling too in the big blind. I have A7 with the ace of hearts. The shorty had red pocket eights and the small blind had black pocket queens. The big stack had something I don't remember. By shoving instead of just calling the small blind basically forces me to fold my hand for no good reason. Flop is all hearts, turn is the queen of hearts and the short stack is about to quadruple up when he'd be drawing dead if Mr. Small Blind no ICM awareness had just called and checked it down instead of jamming on top. Such a terrible play. Luckily for everyone but the short stack the board paired on the river and we were saved. Thank god.

I lost a stack with AA at 200nl during the final table that I probably should have gotten away from on the river but my attention was too focused on the thousandaire. Guy rivered the flush and led into me on the river. Whatevs. 3/3 cashes today.

Quad Deuces

Hero UTG($183) 22
Villain BTN (covers) A4os

Hero opens to $5 from UTG, UTG+3 calls, BTN calls, and big blind calls.

Flop ($19.95) 622r

It's pretty damn hard to flop the nuts with pocket twos but we managed to do it.

BB checks, we check, UTG+3 bets 3/4 pot $14.96, BTN calls, and we call too.

Turn ($62.59) 6

Ooooohhh baby. Please let someone have a six! We check, UTG+3 checks, BTN bets $29.30, we call and UTG+3 folds.

River ($124.48) 4x

We check and villain checks it back. Waaa waaaa waaaawawawwawwa.... Oh well, still won a decent chunk with it.

Up $960 yesterday which means I pretty much broke even in cash games.

The thousandaire maker is so much more profitable than regular tournaments for me. I probably should just keep the secret to myself but whatever. For the most part people play pretty well in regular tournaments. In the thousandaire maker though such a huge portion of the field plays so far from optimal. In the beginning of the tournament players are just giving up chips with suboptimal hands. In the middle stages of the tournament it gets even worse. I'm talking some really ridiculous donking off chips plays. Then in the late stages of the tournament most people are too afraid to make a move. It's not easy, it took a fair amount of balls for me to start jamming as often as I was in spots where if I'm called I'm ****ed. But yeah we start making moves and go from middle of the pack to chip leader. It also takes understanding of who's big blind to attack. You don't want to be trying to push around the short stack because he doesn't have much ICM pressure on him. He needs to double up to survive and if he knows that he's going to call you way lighter than anyone else would. Anyways it's a fun tournament to play but also stress inducing in a lot of ways. "In order to live, you must be willing to die".

Set Over Set Over Set

Hero BB ($203) 22
Villain 1 BTN (covers) 88
Villain 2 UTG ($143.90) 77

Villain 2 limps UTG, villain 1 raises to $8 on the button, we call and villain 2 calls.

Flop ($23.75) 742r

We donk out $12, villain 2 calls and villain 1 calls.

Turn ($57.95) 8h

We bet $24, villain 2 calls and villain 1 raises to $66, we jam $183 total, and both villains obviously call.

River ($550.90) 3

Close but no cigar!

Make 'Em Pay

Hero BTN (covers) TT
Villain 1 CO ($246.97) A8hh
Villain 2 SB ($193) ??

Villain 1 opens to $6, we 3bet to $18, villain 2 cold calls and villain 1 calls.

Flop ($53.20) QT2hhx

Flopping the 2nd nuts is nice. Checks to us, we bet $32 and they both call.

Turn ($150) 8x

Checks to us and we decide to just rip it in. Do you guys think this is the right play? I'm not sure if we're missing value by ripping it in here. It worked out pretty well in this scenario I guess but if you guys think I should be betting something else let me know. Villain 2 folds and villain 1 calls all-in for $196.97 total.

River ($547.94) 6x

We hold. Nice.

Lol Wut?

Hero UTG+1 (covers) QJcc
Villain SB ($760.53) KK

We open to $6 and villain min raises from the small blind to $10. I've been seeing this a lot lately and I don't know what the hell these people are thinking. It boggles my mind, why min raise me out of position? We're super deep here this just makes no sense to me.

Flop ($20.90) QT7dds

We both check.

Turn ($20.90) 9s

We both check.

River ($20.90) Kx

Villain checks, we bet $10 and villain check raises pot to $50.90. We're only losing to AJ. We call and villain has KK?? What???? I'm so effing confused by plays like this. Do you guys think this guy is a bot or what?

Here's an example of a common play in the thousandaire that I see. This just happened.

Blinds 100-200 no ante.

Villain 1 CO (2500 chips) 52hh
Villain 2 SB (1820 chips) KQos

UTG+2 limps in, villain 1 limps in, villain 2 jams from the small blind for 1820 in chips, utg+2 folds, and villain 1 calls. Yes, he limp called a jam preflop with 5 high.

He hits a 2 and doubles up. And now he is sitting out....

Do You Fold Here?

Hero BTN (covers) 76ss
Villain BB ($198) ??

UTG+1 opens to $5 and we call on the button. Probably should just fold this right here. Villain also calls from the big blind.

Flop ($15.20) Q76r

Villain checks, the preflop raiser bets $10.10, we raise to $32.20, and the villain in the big blind jams all-in for $193. UTG+1 folds and we fold too.

What do you guys think? I'll check tomorrow and see what he had.

Do you guys remember old school PTR with all the cool badges? I always wanted to get the elusive triple check raise badge but I wasn't cool enough.

Double Check Raise

Hero UTG (covers) KK
Villain BTN ($212.33) 22

We open to $6 utg only villain on the button calls.

Flop ($14.25) K42sss

We check, villain bets $3.76, we check raise to $13.52 and villain calls.

Turn ($39.93) Tx

We check again, villain bets $27.90 and we pull out the double check raise all-in, villain calls $164.91 more and misses his 1 outer and we win.

Also lost a stack AA<KK, no biggie.
