Really torn between 98 and 99. I can't decide.

Without even looking at the lists I am of the opinion that 1994 had the most amazing movies and also of the opinion that 1999 had a ton of good movies because I remember downloading them all when they were in theater or in the case of the Matrix, before it was in theater or even had a music track yet...funny to watch people dancing around to no music).

Looking at the list, 1996 is weak, 97 has some fun movies but pretty weak overall, 98 maybe doesn't have a ton of depth but pretty good up top (I don't mean the weird order these movies were listed in). 1995 really surprised me. Lots of really good movies in 1995.

There's some notable missing movies. I noticed Hoop Dreams isn't on 1994, ok it's a documentary. However, leaving out Clerks is reprehensible. You put Clerks on the 94 list and it's a slam dunk for 94. Also, not sure how you can't include South Park: Bigger Longer and Uncut for 1999. I had like 6 different copies of that movie trying to find the perfect one where the people weren't walking in front of the shots in the theater.

Based on your list: 1995
Real life: 1994

FTR I saw this on Twitter so it’s not my list. I think I’m in agreement with Spyu

Also Fargo is the best movie on that list

Oh yeah, Fresh was in 1994 too. Maybe it's lesser known but it has chess in it so it must be included! 1994!

I'm sure there are other notable movies missing from the bad years too. So it is what it is. I think the more interesting thing would be re-ordering each these list from best to worst movie that year.

I only just finished (finally) the Godfather trilogy the other day, so I haven't really reached the 90s yet.

dark horse movie on that list: the ghost and the darkness

Whoever made this list is obviously a poker player because nobody else would put Rounders on top. In fact, I'm not sure how many people would even include it on the list.

I don't know that I've seen Ghost and the Darkness but Michael Douglas movies tend to be great dark horse movies.

97 or 99

Best movies that I’ve seen

Pulp fiction
Shawshank
Brave heart
Heat
Good will hunting
La confidential
Matrix
Sixth sense

I have an issue with Tarantino saying the N word a lot and acting like it’s ok so I can’t give pulp my number one. Braveheart, heat , hunting, sixth sense

I just gotta say sixth sense is so damn good. I also love la confidential.

I’d probably say heat is the best movie on the list with a close second to good will hunting. Only because good will hunting is an emotional movie for me while heat is more like a great rollercoaster ride

BTW, I think this whole thing is a ruse, a trap of sorts. I'm pretty sure this list was in the previous chat thread and Slim is just posting this again so he can point out our inaccuracies and the hypocrisy we have within. Make us feel like the swine that we are.

You’re like four years older than me, I’m guessing.

PSH always had great roles. Have you ever seen before the devil knows you’re dead? I always appreciated the different voices and faces Matt Damon does during the impressions scene

Great movie choices. I'm not as high on goodwill hunting or heat..heat could be top 10 for me but it kind of drags on but the action scenes are amazing.

Here are 10 of my favorites from these lists in no particular order. I could certainly mix and match a few other movies into this grouping as well. Matrix is probably only off because I watched it a billion times when I was younger (not much desire to see it now)

Braveheart (1995)
Pulp Fiction (1994)
The Usual Suspects (1994)
Casino (1995)
Seven (1995)
12 Monkeys (1995)
Saving Private Ryan (1998)
Office Space (1999)
Fight Club (1999)
Shawshank Redemption (1994)

Exactly, the years you picked are skewed by like 4 years. 1993, 1994, and 1995 were amazing years for cinema.

BTW, it's also criminal for this list not to include Legends of the Fall in 1994. That's a must watch film I was trying to include in my 10 favorite.

I find my memory is too hazy to ever have a super strong opinion on movies I half remember watching decades ago.

It’s an underrated movie. Big fan here. Val Kilmer is solid in it. Actually went to the Field Museum in to see Savo lions.
