I'll be there for sure that week - missed last year but I think it is one of the two best weeks of WSOP for midstakes cash in addition to the OMC tourneys.

Colorado College, super tiny school, people nearly always just say "oh uc Boulder" and I just nod my head and say sure thing chief. In my ignorant youth I bothered pointing out the difference until I realized coworkers and even some roommates would mention I went to Boulder to others so just gave up fighting it. Kind of like a lot of people tell others I'm from Boston because I told them Massachusetts but where I grew up I was significantly closer to NYC than Boston.

OMG yes, I mentioned them earlier but my god the amount of people just blatantly high off their rockers on meth just wandering residential neighborhoods and 7-11s is astounding

Random question.
How difficult would picking up Omaha limit on the fly be?
Like I’ve never played, but there’s an incredibly soft looking 20/40 limit with a kill game going that looks super juicy and my 2/5 NL game is definitely in the bad, boring, and nitty end of the entertainment and money-making spectrum.

I’m also scared that I’d be opening a pandora’s box.

I personally am not into silly betting (placing wagers in a -ev scenario). If you are into that kind of thing it will be easy. If you like making money while placing wagers with +ev I would say its quite difficult to do

Just feels like 80% of the worst NL players are there right now and I can’t believe they’re good at all.

lol. Here is a game you have never played. How good do you think you are gunna be? Do you have any clue what hands you should open utg? Or any position for that matter. This is entitlement at its best imo.

I dont know a ton - but I do know how to win $ and preserve a bankroll gamboolin.

This aint it. But u do you. I am sure someone around here will give you the answer you are hoping for

But yeah Skwid, I’d rather not put myself in a big -EV spot for over 1K.
I’ll probably stay away, was just curious if posters thought the learning could happen fast enough to be +EV on a really bad table.

If it were a private/home game and they said tonight we playin this. Ya Id sit and let em know Ive never played. That way I would look like a sport. But going to a casino where playing it serves zero purpose from a meta aspect, I would study up on it b4 plunking down my hard earned $

I’m not trying to come off as entitled.
I read PLO by Jeff Hwang last year when I was considered branching into Omaha.
Obviously, I wouldn’t be good, but I wondered what players of both games thought for how steep the learning curve is.
I agree that I wouldn’t be good, I was just thinking the lineup looked especially bad.

Not gonna do it though, and always appreciate your opinion as I assume you would know.
I’m aware there’s someone around who will tell me go for it.
I was just looking for straight feedback.

From my understanding of it, PLO is nowhere near as intuitive as poker

I imagine once you make it limit you'll simply be guessing most of the time what to do

At the very least I'd sit down and read a limit Omaha book or two and put what you learn into practice at micro stakes online

Glgl we all know the feeling of seeing terrible players at a table and wondering if you should jump in

I like the old pen better, when squid would spit knowledge and those most in need of said knowledge would ignore it and TR the next 3 weeks for the enjoyment of all.

Tldr thread needs moar duke hwsnbn Homer and headrubs. Anyone missing from that list?

Is this limit Omaha high? Or Hi-lo?

From the graphs I've seen of the best players in the limite Omaha foramts it seems like if you really know what you are doing you can just crush w/ very little variance.

Their graphs are like a straight line sloping up.

How difficult is it to get to that level of proficiency? No clue.

Sorry to disappoint Zoltan.

It’s just high hand Omaha Spyu. 9 handed 20/40 limit with a 1/2 kill (after what I assume is on pots over $200 or $400).

I should at least study up and play online micros for awhile first as Skwid/Rickroll are saying and play it when it looks soft only. I assume limit and PLO are very different in play. But I have a reasonable grasp on hand strengths.

Yeah the limit formats the crushers are able to have like very little variance and the fun players are drawing dead almost literally.

Only problem with it is the player pools are a lot smaller.

Whearas in NLHE you can always get lucky.

Definitely worth studying though if that's a regular game that runs often and the players don't seem particularly skilled. But yeah I'd make sure I can beat micros first.

Though PF equities run pretty close there are a lot of spots post flop where bad players will get freerolled often.
