But I have access to woods trails in northern NH which are generally tight single track, wet, rocky, only occasionally sandy.
So, this isn’t really my area of expertise as I don’t dual sport... butttttt here are the bikes I would look at..
CRF450L
KTM 690 (people say this is a big bike, but I have a buddy that will ride this bish in the gnarliest stuff... he is pretty expert though. Real badass on bikes)
KTM 500EXC-F
Husky FE501
Yamaha WR450F
The Husky and KTM are basically the same bike (come from the same manufacturing plant) and as much as it pains me to say this.. I’d probably look at those bikes... unless you don’t mind challenging yourself on the 690.
The outlier here is the Yammy. I owned a fuel injected WR and it ripped. Out of all of these bike it’s going to be the most agile, dirt bike feeling bike. I’ve taken it up some gnarly single track and it just beasted with no issue. Tons of guys super moto these bikes. Possibly one of the most popular enduro bikes to SM.
I don’t hear any bad things about the CRF450L so I don’t think you’d go wrong there. I just know guys who ride the 501 and 500 and they couldn’t be more happier. The price tag is gon’ bite you harder is all. The Austrians are really proud of their stuff.
Now if you really want to be a badass do like I did.... Beta 300rr 2 stroke... the non race versions come street legal. You can find a couple year old bikes barely touched for great prices. I see them all the time on the east coast for cheap af. Slap a rekluse on it and f that single track up. Also 2 strokes are lol easier to work on than 4 strokes so there is that. Get an extra set of wheels with DOT tires and call it a day. (This is probably not the ideal scenario for you, but I figured I’d throw it out there).
