current 6th and 7th round picks only have a 10-15% chance of making it to year 5, we're not talking about a large pool of players moving to second contrcts.
They get paid to do it ergo not a waste of time lol.

Although most franchises don't seem to bother tbh.

3.5/year. granted, they were starting to go off the rails in 04/05. in 2005 there were 60 players taken, so 15% were HSers. don't get me wrong, i believe the rules the NBA and NFL have protect the teams from themselves and are probably beneficial for the league, but as the NBA has shown, once given the opportunity, teams start to do stupid things.

Yeah, it only became a problem when everyone decided to do it.

Teams, overall & in every sport, are ridiculously smarter than they were 15 years ago. There was such an assymetry of knowledge & understanding of analytics. Now most teams are at least semi-competent, which is boring, but was inevitable.

Interesting - I had assumed lots of HS players came out but weren't drafted, but apparently there were only 6 from 1995 to 2004.

and that is basically the point i was getting at because once 1 does it and is successful, then everyone tries.

i doubt they change the rules anytime soon, especially because the NFL prides itself on parity to keep markets engaged from season to season and week to week. adding more speculation would just **** over the Jets and Jags.

Eh, KG/Kobe/TMac were all 7+ years before the influx.

& yeah, I think the NFL is pretty set in their system. If they were going to tweak it, maybe add 1 more year, not 3.

NBA has been rumored to be getting rid of their 1 year rule for a while now.

I bought into NIO super late at $20 and still made more than him on it lol.

I sold at $44 once my cousin messaged me to ask, "Hey so this NIO is it a good time to get in?"

Maybe I missed the point of this argument?
We're arguing whether collegiate slaves would have better stock in a league of 18 year old investors.

The infantry is the last vestige of the old forced servitude. I guess the difference is you can't be bought and sold to a foreign power. Of course there's a political way to make you do the same thing.

My last uber driver was an options trader. I asked him to define it and he got it fairly right. I then said that sounds like gambling and he yelped "Yeah I like to gamble too"

I felt a little bad stiffing him and reporting him for using his mask as a beard guard.

Not sure if anyone has proposed this, but I think a system where a player can declare for the NFL draft once at any time after they turn 18 & if they're drafted in the 1st round or 2 they can enter the NFL & if they're not they're taken off the draft board & allowed to return/go to college until they reach the normal eligibility requirement, would make some sense.

That way players who are clearly ready to contribute could start earning money - I think this would be especially important for RBs - & those that aren't can get a free education & blah blah blah.

The real solution is for the NCAA to start allowing it's athletes to be paid. There are many collegiate stars that will never have success at the NFL level. Football players are not ready for the NFL at the age of 18 in any form, shape or fashion. It's a completely different situation than other sports like basketball.

That 'solution' is being worked out now. The football players will get a little piece of the action without sniffing anything close to a middle class salary. That immediately leads to a new 'problem' when the womyns crew team wants an "equal" share; of what the men get and not of their sport's non-existent revenue stream.
