That is all.

I shot through 7 buyins and did not get bothered by the run bad. Guess that is thanks to my online background. Step up your emotional control, become a ****ing alien

A 7 buyin swing live is pretty brutal

I went through 12 buy-ins in April. Right around the time I had to write a 5-figure check to the IRS too.

I don't let bad runs affect my poker game, I just get super pissed because I hate losing. Win or lose, confidence has never been an issue for me. I've had around 150K hand break-even online and that's with a 6-7 bb/100 overall winrate. Most live players have no clue how badly it is possible to run.

As long as we're trading stories, here's the hand that capped my largest downswing (luckily I started heating up after this one or else my life might have been in danger):

Everyone 100bb deep

Flop 7 8 9

UTG bets, MP raises, MP+1 shoves, I shove with A T (while ******* in my pants silently), BB tanks and hollywoods before calling, everyone else calls. 500bb pot.

BB flips up a BB special of.... 6 8 and scoops the pot.

I've posted this story before and I'll post this beat till the day I stop playing poker. 1 outters happen and you get used to them but they usually aren't in 5way all-in pots and usually aren't the absolute lowpoints of downswings. The context is really what got to me.

Umm? Are you telling the story correctly?
06-15-2012 , 10:23 AM
^ assuming there was a 5 that came in somewhere or the other 10 hit?

They do say that those who hide their anger tend to explode bigger.

Maybe it would be better for you to show some emotion.

Ah, I always thoguht hollwooding just meant "making a big fuss." Does it mean making a big fuss WHILE having the nuts?

Villain rivered a 5

Ya, hollywood means that you're over there acting, meaning doing something opposite of your true intention.

In this case, villain was stuck with a honest decision, should he try to suck out his two-outer for straight flush, which is probably his only out.

It's a stupid decision, but it was honest for him.

+1

although it sounds like you are becoming happy or angry based on whether you win or lose, when really you should just base it on whether or not you made the right play

I'm glad we're all getting lessons on "don't be results oriented"... again... for the umpteenth time.

Do you have a med school in mind where you want to apply to?
06-15-2012 , 11:25 AM
or let me rephrase that: get admission to?

Being anal retentive, I have a spreadsheet:

Central Michigan Mt Pleasant MI Yellow
Chicago Chicago IL Orange
Cincinnati Cincinnati OH Yellow
Drexel Philadelphia PA Green
George Washington Washington DC Green
UIC Chicago IL Green
Jefferson Philadelphia PA Yellow
Loma Linda Loma Linda CA Green
Louisville Louisville KY Green
Loyola Chicago IL Green
Miami Miami FL Yellow
Michigan Ann Arbor MI Orange
MSU East Lansing MI Green
Northwestern Chicago IL Orange
Oakland Rochester MI Yellow
Penn State Hershey PA Yellow
Rosalind Franklin North Chicago IL Yellow
Rush Chicago IL Green
Temple Philadelphia IL Green
Southern Illinois Springfield IL Green
Toledo Toledo OH Green
Tulane New Orleans LA Green
Wake Forest Winston-Salem NC Yellow
Wayne State Detroit MI Yellow
MC Wisconsin Milwaukee WI Yellow

Michigan and NW are the dream schools. Chicago is probably going to get dropped from the list.

The tough part will be getting into a school that is near my wife's psych internship (basically a residency for psych doctorates). We'll be applying at the same time. We have a map setup with little post its everywhere too.

Color is my chances, green>yellow>orange.

It should be regarded as compliment when dhcg mocks your game.

If he agrees, you might be in trouble.
