Doublefly, did you stack off 99 vs my flush on Calico because you thought I was tilting? I went back to look at the hand and couldn't figure if you were leveling me or not.

You guys don't have graphs like this? Man mbn, this is just my last 20k so about 2 weeks work for me, working on about 35k hands like this.

What goes up, must inevitably come down

I hate hot/cold swongs

No I just suck. :-). Obviously trying to rep a flush when the opponent has a flush is not a swift move. I also tried to bluff a guy off his set. And I tried to take Sparky off his straight. Consider it an early holiday present. I obviously need to channel my aggression better. It's a miracle I'm flat today. I need to fly down to Australia and cut off one of Sparky's feet for good luck. :-)

^You scrambled back up to >$1000 later, nice. Anyone else notice how fish-infested the tables were after the WSOP FT aired on a holiday?
11-13-2008 , 04:57 AM
yup games have definitely been a lot softer reenty i guess it is WSOp fever and FTOPS on FT helps i think. seems to be a lot more tables running when the tournaments are on
11-13-2008 , 04:34 PM
Softer?!? Dang! And here I was thinking that I was getting better... :-P

btw, is it me, or do the tables seem to get tougher after someone mentions softness of tables on this thread? Call me superstitious.

After months of playing mediocre poker, I finally got enough points for a 30" monitor. Now I have no idea what to use any future points for. I don't need any more electronics, and I can probably only fit one ass cheek into the Mini Cooper, which really would make for some unsightly driving. Anyway, send your emails to FT Support for the tokens & cash for points idea, so I can recycle money back into the poker community. :-)

There's some donk on Hollow Pines named 'Vaginal Radar'. Some names you just know can't be long term.
11-14-2008 , 01:07 PM
One of the reasons I started playing was because I want to eventually win a major tournament before I die. So when the announcer does my mini bio and says my screen name, I don't want there to be any sort of humiliation or censoring involved in mentioning my screen name. "Durrr", "Raptor", all fine. Marginal are "leatherass", etc. And then there's "I rock hoes", etc. All very good players. But do you really want to be the unmentionable-on-tv internet player? I suppose if you suck and know you will always suck, it doesn't matter, but these are very good players.

Btw, what is ghostbeef? Is that slang? I'm way out of the loop.

My "favorite" name story is... When I was watching college football a number of years back, some woman named her son Limonjello, because lemon jello was her favorite food. Wtf! I still chuckle thinking about Brent Musberger explaining it.

It's from an online comic, http://achewood.com . One of the characters is named 'roast beef' but he dies a lot, hence ghost beef. Haven't read it in a while, but I find 'funny' names get you more action than serious ones. I probably should have made it all caps and put some numbers at the end.

I just finished reading Leatherass' "in the well" thread in the StoxPoker forum and it really opened my eyes to taking poker a little more seriously. I play a lot of hands per mo, but compared to him, I was mostly just putzing around. He seems like a very grounded guy, and is also diversifying his income stream for those who are interested. His responses are a good read, if you have time.

Btw, do you guys find online coaching videos useful? I just realized what a fat pig I'm starting to look like, since my main daily activity is staring at the computer, moving the mouse and a few keys, and drinking empty-calorie beverages. So I thought I'd start working out again, while watching poker videos. Which site do you prefer? Also, I accrue these damn FT points so quickly, I need to use them on something.
11-15-2008 , 07:55 PM
If you're sticking with FR, make sure the site you pick has lots of FR videos. I know CR is much heavier on the 6max and specialty/highstakes pro videos. I watch one a day on my lunch hour at work.

I heard 60 Minutes is doing a special this week about sweatshops in Germany where they have young children short stack the games non stop. Whips, chains, no food or sleep type sh*t.
11-16-2008 , 03:06 AM
Seem to be more short stackers than a month ago. Or maybe they didn't annoy me as much last month, and I didn't notice. :-)
11-17-2008 , 08:55 AM
Those short stacking mutha's annoy the feck outta me. Its not poker. I mean, why not just go bet on 2 flies walking down the window pane?
11-17-2008 , 10:56 AM
Short stacking is the one thing I can't stand about online poker. Imagine inviting some guy to your home game. He buys in for 20bbs, shoves, doubles up, and then leaves. 30 mins later he comes back and rebuys again for 20bbs. Would never happen in real life, because he would have gotten his ass kicked both after he tried to leave AND before he tried to sit down again. Sometimes, corporal punishment is the only way to go. :-)

Yesterday I had one of those days where I felt like I could have been up a few BIs with an average run of cards, but instead I was down a few. Such a frustrating game.

From the archives, really helped me visualize general SS ranges and their thought process. I am actually happy to see SS at my table now because it's easy money.

good thread, but seriously: every reg who has pokerstove and can't figure out most of this by himself deserves having trouble with shortstacks. Playing against shorties is so easy and busting their A3 with A7 can be so much fun.
11-17-2008 , 10:17 PM
Any reggy regs want to trade 1k of their Stars $ for 1k of my FTP $? I'll probably end up asking in the P2P xfer thread, but reading pages of people getting scammed scares me a little.

I thought it would be fun to grind up a bankroll just from FPPs but now I realize it's just a waste of time and -EV.

WHAT. IT. DO.
