Well if I had $20,000 to play 50NL some might think that was silly, for instance. I mean not like 100BI seems anything crazy like that.

That's true, but he asked this question:

Would you guys consider a 100BI bankroll for an average reg to be overrolled or properly rolled to play 2/4 rush as my main game?
First, we would need to know the win rate for an average regular at 2/4 rush. Thoughts?
12-29-2010 , 08:51 PM
well if he has even a positive wr, I'd say 100BI is more than enough.

Assuming you're talking about life roll and not just afford to lose at poker roll I'd feel super uncomfortable with less than 100 buy-ins for my regular game.
12-30-2010 , 06:10 AM
Yeah, as a life roll, I think six month living expenses + 100 BI sound better.

This.

After the most recent legislation blackout period scare, everyone should reevaluate their bankroll. Could you have survived a 15 month blackout period?

moving to canada, yes

This 100 BI business is the height of nittiness. Maybe if you win at 0.25 bb/100 (including rakeback) it makes sense, but, for the guys ITT who presumably win at a higher rate than that, that's just silly. I've never heard of a proven winner at 2/4 having a $40,000 downswing. Have you?

This year i was well over 2bb for the year before I hit this downswing. I basically lost 90k in three months. This month was about 40k of it and it was all 2/4 and 3/6.

Granted I wasn't playing well at the tail end of this but I ran over 50 buyins under EV aipf alone this month. Don't even get me started on the absurd one-sided coolers.

Call it nitty or whatever u want but I wouldn't play professionially with less than 100 buyins. And lol at having a LIFE ROLL of less than 100 buyins and 6 months expenses. If I didn't I would be busto right now (assuming I didn't have a job and ****).

I'm not complaining or anything, just stating facts. You have to be padded for variance.

Jimmy, do u seriously believe you'll ever come across $40,000 downswing at 2/4 when your playing your very best game with no SNE pressure + table selection !? !? !?!?

I can't say, I sure hope not but it has happened once. Also, keep in mind this 40k downswing was directly after a 50k downswing at 5/10.

Also it's easy to SAY "if i play my very best game and never tilt and there's no pressure" but let's be honest, when u lose 15 straight flips and you're down to 30 buyins or something are you going to be playing your very best game with no pressure? I doubt it...
12-30-2010 , 05:06 PM
Yeah that's why you stop playing after you lose 5 straight flips. C'mon bro your spose to be a veteran.
12-30-2010 , 05:16 PM
right and I normally do. I did that all year its just at the end of the year I obv needed to put in the volume which caused the runbad+playbad combo.

But I did have a 60 buyin downswing playing legit great poker just before the close to 100 buyin one playnig not so great poker.

I'm really surprised that some of you don't have 100 buyin life rolls that just seems crazy to me. I've always been a nit about that kind of stuff though.
