Thanks for the insight, Frond. The tricky/bad guy to my right once limped KK from UTG and he check-raised me on the turn. Other times he bet 33 to the river w/ lots of overs. He slow-played his sets. Hard to put him on anything.

He was a moron. He is just asking to get outdrawn and not charge the players.

Yea, sometimes in these games hand reading can feel fruitless. Just have to bet your hands. Bet bet bet bet!

So, I took a break from poker for a few months to focus on school.

Been playing this week though. FT offered me a bonus because I hadn't played in a while I guess. Can't refuse the bonus.

I will be back from Iraq in the middle of November. I look forward to playing more.

Hey Araz, good to hear you chime in here again. Hope things are going well over there for you. Looking forward to playing some pokers with you when you get back.

Chopped the weekly SN freeroll on Stars for 7200. Hand histories to follow. Props to BBB for the sick sweating. 4th ever I've played and 2nd final table, maybe I should play these more?

Aiyah! 15/30 game the other night. Uber tight Prop on my right, I am in seat 1 and he is a bit hard to see. I swear he just limped in UTG, I don't hear a thing so I put out 6 chips to raise(I never announce my raises) with Q K thinking that he just limped. But after I thought I was raising I see that he had 6 chips out for a raise. He must have said it really low to the dealah. Too late, oh well. Flop comes, I whif and I fold when he bets out.

I am really starting to despise sitting in the 1 and 9 sets.

I auto-request a seat change button as soon as I sit down in those spots. Even if I have what would be considered good position relative to the bad players at the table, I might still move. For a 9-handed table, I usually seek to move if I am in the 5 seat. Ideally, I want to see the entire table without moving my neck, but I am lazy.

Taking a couple months off and coming back has caused me to realize one very, very simple and helpful thing for my game.

Here is the epiphany: Do not think about what you are going to do before it's your turn. Two reasons.
1. You can miss a lot
2. You can read too much into another player's play, which could end up costing you.

Amazing, right? Maybe not so much.

Frond, your KQ hand reminded me of the time at Pechanga when I had 99 and didn't realize it was a kill-pot and ended up open-limping UTG+2. I felt like such a goon.

Had I realized he had popped it PF it would have been fold or raise with way more weight going on folding. He was so tight he was wearing tights

To make you feel better...

My first 128 hours of 4/8 (with full kill): +228 BB (+1.8 BB/hour)
My last 31 hours (4 or 5 October sessions) of 4/8 (with full kill): -208 BB (-6.7 BB/hour)

Worst short term streak I've ever had.

Jesse has just gotten up from slumming at this 6/12 table as the new 20/40 has just started up, and I get a seat in the game. Oh well, guess I don't get my first chance to get owned by a pro.

UTG goes all-in for 5 chips, UTG+1, MP1, CO, BN (suited, large old white guy in seat 3) call, I complete the raise with JJ in the SB, BB calls, UTG+1, MP1 toss in an extra chip, CO says, "I'll build a side pot with you," and 3-bets, BN calls, I cap, everyone calls. 7 players to the flop for a cap, one all-in.

flop [25 SB]: JT9r
I bet, BB, UTG+1 call, MP1 folds, CO calls, BN raises, I 3-bet, BB folds (and inadvertently mucks the 3 of spades, lol), UTG+1 folds, CO calls, BN caps, I call, CO calls.

turn [19.5 BB]: Q
I check, CO checks, BN bets, I call, CO angrily points at the queen and says he has one of those and has to call.

river [22.5 BB]: A
Checked around. Wheeeeeee! Oh, and as a bonus, I had IWTSTH invoked on me again.

I take it an 8x was afraid of a Kx?

Oh, yes, results are OK in low content.... BN has Q8o, CO has AQo, and HJ wants to see my hand.

I like the corner seats (or the seats at what would be at corners if the edges were not rounded). I like being optimistic and taking the seats with the most real estate for stacking chips.

as long as we are being spelling nits, I would also suggest the book "Small Stakes Hold'em" in addition to the book mwette suggested
