I really like those oversized pouches, too.

I came to a realization yesterday about something that is incredibly tilting at the table. I am at the point where I can take my bad beats from bad players well. I just say NH and move on. But for some reason, I can't stand bad beats from good (or at least tight) players. The type where something just goes haywire in their heads and they manage some bonehead play and suck out.

Case in point, yesterday I open with 77 in LP and get cold called by a really tight player in the CO. This is a new table and the guy hasn't played a hand outside the blinds for 3-4 orbits. Alarm bells start going off for me that this guy could have a big pair. Flop is 567r and we go several bets before I give him credit for 89o. I mean seriously, what hands are you folding consistently if you are cold calling with 89o? It just kills me.

But you gotta admit, pairing the river woulda been sweet. Then you'd really appreciate the cc and been "tilt-free" the rest of the session.

I would have went a lot more than "several bets".

It always sucks when tight players win pots.

I was at the same table, and gave the guy credit for 89s, not 89o

Turns out he wasn't nearly as tight as I originally gave him credit for. He ended up AI against me with 6 high.

Played the 9/18 @ Commerce yesterday late afternoon with Hyperrrprank and Scarmiglio. Man oh man, all the tables were ubertight. I made 3 tables changes and they all stunk like limburger. Chop city all around. I didn't stay too long. Played some 4/8 stud which was equally as bad so I decided to make the switch and drove down to Haw. Gardens where I the very first hand at the table went 7 ways for 2 bets which I won. Nice start. I guess sometimes just table changing isn't enough if the tables are all really bad. Just fortunate enough that in So Cal we have several choices all within fairly short driving distance if one joint smells on that particular day or night.

I did however have one of the 4 food groups (all beef hot dog with mustard) at Commerce. Mustard is a vegetable isn't it?

I'm going to mix in some short shots when I feel like I'm playing well and the game looks tasty. Had there been an open seat at the end of the day I would have followed the fish from my table over, but by then there were a dozen people on the list.

misread your putt imo. gotta watch out for those guys....it's very, very easy to get dealt J2o for 15 hands in a row.

I don't want to post what's probably a trivial omaha hand over in the right forum, so i'll post it here... Understand that I play Omaha just about never...

O8 3/6 live -
I'm dealt A445hhdd somewhere in LP.

3 limps to me and I limp as well... 6 to the flop for 6 SB
2 3 Q

One of the blinds bets, 2 calls and I raise...

Ridiculously standard, right?

People call - 4 to the turn for 7BB
7

nut/nut, easy bet - 3 calls to the river for 10BB
7

I still bet with the nut low and flush, right?

Yep, all looks good.

Funny, I was playing an OL 6 max L08 game today that was going off for 2/3 bets PF every freakin hand. When you would make a good 2 way hand it was getting paid off huge. Just kind of a game of waiting for good two way hands or not having to pay too much to see the flop with good high only hands in position. Some bluffing going on as well so at times you had to call down some hands.

Whoops, this is LC thread.

What beer is everyone drinking currently? I had a Boddington Pale Ale on tap the other day that was just great. As smooth as a new deck of Copags. @ the moment consuming a Mission Street Pale ale. NH as well

I drink Boddington a lot - and in fact, a proper black and tan is Guinnes and Boddington, not Bass.

nh. if you had some crazy live read that the guy very next to act was fumbling for raising chips you may check and call to get overcalls. it would be pretty obvious at that point you are only winning the low.

i was at one point in time a huge beer connoisseur. i had a particular fondness for microbrews. among my all-time faves are pete's strawberry blonde, dox equis, and a local product here in arkansas called H20 melon produced by the now defunct weidman's brewery(among many, many more too numerous to mention).

i have since fallen in love with sailor jerry's spiced rum and it's 100% taken over as my drink of choice.

with a really smooth blend of vanilla and subtle cherry with other flavorful, buttery spices, it can be sipped straight, mixed with a cola(which is what i normally do) or used in a myriad of other ways. it's a classic spiced rum, whose manufacturing process is based on the customized way that sailors/pirates created their rums on long ocean voyages back in the "old" days. it does pack a little more of a punch at 92 proof, but conversely it doesn't pack a punch in the wallet as it is very affordable and a wonderful value for your dollar.

seems like i heard it was mentioned in a jimmy buffet book, as well. outside of that, i would have never heard of it if it wasn't for a "mission" i went on last summer inwhich i set out to find the best spiced rum available through most common liquor stores. check it out, you won't be disappointed.

I'm picturing that Old Spice commercial where the sailor retruns from his voyage with his lass awaitin for him.

Wish I knew something about rums. It is one of the ones I don't know squat. Only ones I have are Myers dark and maybe some cheap cheap white rum. Maybe Ed Miller could do a book on grog SSG

I feel like I'm the only one who was keeping the LC thread alive.

Lost 1300 tonight, then won 12 of it back with ninja-like table changing (I won a pot with AK ui before I'd finished moving my chips over, then flopped the nut flush with A4s and took the following line:

call, call 3 bets, call cap
call, 3-bet, call cap
donk

)

It can feel strange booking a nice win when the only pair bigger than 88 you see in 6+ hrs is QQ. Not only that but not many SCr's at all. I did flop sets with 22 and 33 that were very stealthy. Just managed to flop good here and there with some hands that won some monsters. Still though, it def felt good to book a nice win with mostly trash to play. Def took a ton of patience of waiting for hands to play. I am still wondering what it some time will be like when I do get a decent amount of hands to play that connect.

One Time in da face deck! Aiyah

i don't get this statement. you start off in present tense when you say you "feel like i'm the only one" and then you go past tense when you say "who was keeping the LC thread alive". can you please explain? i think we can get a very interesting LC conversation going on this topic and your lack of proper application in the usage of verb tense. SO TITILLATING!

and you think you're the only one keeping it alive, tsk, tsk.

i played some 4 handed 2/4 online for the first time in a loooooong time. fininshed up maybe 20.00 in a hundred or so hands(yep! that's 5bb/100). my LHE game has definitely changed as a result of playing NL and PLO. for the better, i think. no hands of note, just thought i'd mention it.

Capital idea, Mr. Moderator. And, speaking of capitals, we could also have one about proper capitalization. Hell, let's just do a "Remedial Grammar" thread.

Wow! Phelps is a freakin stud. Amazing stuff

Is poker ever going to be included in the olympics? ESPN and some of the Fox sports channels carry it a lot. Since they are going to be dumping womans softball(we are too dominating in this event) next time round how about adding poker. According to Espn it is a sport.

In unrelated LC news-Anyone see those new pics of a supposed Bigfoot/hominid that was found in Georgia? Really good hoax or???? Heard about it late last night on the radio on the Coast to Coast show. They have a website with links to it. Pretty weird stuff.

There really is nothing like the olympics to boost my level of national pride. As if I needed another reason to hate the French; the television coverage made sure to show extra footage of their pre-swim bragging before the first relay race. It just made the victory feel that much sweeter.

With the diving and gymnastic events I just get frustrated because I don't understand the scoring methods and I think the USA should always win. Right now we have the lead in the overall medal count but China is beating us in golds. I think we will eventually eclipse them when track and field events start but there are a lot fo gymanstic medals yet to awarded which may allow them to pad their lead.
