I have beta 40 and UAC turned off.
With w7 turning off UAC isnt enough. You have to still set the programs to run as admin.

Please update to the latest beta 41 - http://rvgsoftware.fileburst.com/HmBetaUpdate.exe

Under Windows 7 you must set \holdem manager\dbcontrolpanel.exe, holdemmanager.exe and hmhud.exe to be started as administrator. Run the windows explorer and navigate to your Holdemmanager installation directory. Right click the executable's and select "Run as admin" from the compatibility tab.

Add exceptions to the windows firewall, even if it is off. If you have a 3rd party firewall, do the equivalent or uninstall it temporarily - http://www.holdemmanager.net/faq/afm...aspx?faqid=171

First try to delete the \postgresql\8.x\data\postmaster.pid file, if you see it, and reboot.

If no help, try this:

Start > Programs > PostgreSQL > 8.x > Stop Service

Start > Programs > PostgreSQL > 8.x > Start Service

Add exceptions to the windows firewall, even if it is off. If you have a 3rd party firewall, uninstall it completely before installing HM/SQL - http://www.holdemmanager.net/faq/afm...aspx?faqid=171

Please try following all of these FAQs, step by step:

1) http://www.holdemmanager.net/faq/afm....aspx?faqid=34
2) http://www.holdemmanager.net/forum/s...ead.php?t=8261

If that doesn't help you will probably have to reinstall PostgreSQL completely and reimport your hands.

Did you export all your hands, tournament summaries, player notes, etc? Then yes. If not, make sure you do before you uninstall. After you uninstall it from your control panel, you have to manually delete the \data folder left behind. I would suggest you also do a vacuum and defrag after that.

2) Close HM, restart HM, click Register, and finish the registration process.
3) If you have any problems, please try using our registration system to reset your license. http://www.holdemmanager.net/Registration/

None of that did anything, I'm still getting the same can't connect error. I really have to uninstall/reinstall and then import my entire DB again? This is the 4th time since buying HEM I have had to do this and it's getting really annoying, How am I supposed to export my DB if I can't log into postgres.

Went back and read through everything to make sure I did it right, did it again to check and realized the step highlighted isn't possible:

If I go through and allow it to reinstall still I get "FATAL : 3D000: database XXXXXXX does not exist"

Though I can actually log back into DB manager, there is now nothing there.

alright,

i had a teamviewer session with fabio but he couldnt help.

hem doesnt start because postgres doesnt work it says:

"server doesnt listen".

he said it could be kaspersky. I called their support and they told me how to allow postgres to connect. still no effect. I even disabled kaspersky, nothing changes.

HEM shows this when trying to start:

failed establish a connection to 127.xxx.

Basically the IP of postgres I guess?

I am running W7 ultimate 64 bit.

So can anyone help me out, I would be super happy

use something else than karpersky?

edit: even if you disable karpersky it might block something

you need to uninstall it completely to see if that's the reason

wtf use something else?

I bought kaspersky 2010 cos its been tested and worked well for me all over the years.

Then you install some other firewall and some new update of something on your copputer might cause problems again. So use something else every time huh?

How about getting this **** to work with kaspersky? I don't even think its the problem.

Hey,

I recently thought about purchasing Table Scanner for Holdem Manager to improve my game selection, because as like everyone of you guys know table selection gets more and more important nowadays.

I would like to know if you guys use Table Scanner and if it improves your winrate.
Moreover I would like to know how big your database must be to make it worth it. I play NL50 and NL100 on Full Tilt.
In my database I have 161.341 hands and 22.537 players for NL50/100.
So is this database big enough to find some fish and juicy games?

Last but not least I would like to know if its allowed to share databases?
So it would be nice if some other NL50 player wants to share his database with me.

tim

No, there are a couple of reinstall methods that might work, with your existing DB.

You cant, that's why your HMArchive hands are so important, along with any DB Exports to File you may have.

You are using an old FAQ with a brand new 8.4 version of SQL, that we have not wrote a FAQ to account for.

Do you still have your original DB \data files?

For reinstalling SQL to the same DB, follow these steps:

1) Uninstall PostgreSQL from the Windows Control Panel.
2) If you are moving the DB to a different drive/partition, manually cut or copy the \Postgresql\8.x\data directory to it's new location.
3) run the command - start > programs > accessories > command prompt > right-click > run as administrator
net user postgres /delete
4) reboot.
5) Install the same version of PostgreSQL as your current DB using these instructions - http://www.holdemmanager.net/faq/afm...aspx?faqid=177
6) If you have moved/installed your DB to a non-default location, please make sure to change the 'Data Directory' path during the installation.

If you still need help Please email me at fozzy@holdemmanager.net with a link to this thread, so we can schedule a Teamviewer session. Download the Teamviewer Quick Support Module - http://rvgsoftware.fileburst.com/TeamViewerQS.exe. Please let me know what time zone you are in and what time/days are convenient for you.

Our Xenocode was giving false positives on about 12 different virus scanners. Currently Kaspersky is still giving us troubles but our developers are working on a solution. As much as you may dislike that suggestion, it is your only current easy way to fix this problem.

If you uninstall Kaspersky, and used an alternative (free) anti-virus temporarily, you should be able to use HEM fine. Then you can reinstall Kaspersky once we get them to play nice together.

Corrupt DB. The backup/restore process is pretty hit/miss/ I have easily rebuilt my DB 20 or 30 times over the past 3 years, and have only used the .backup method once, just to educate myself on the process. It is woefully unreliable.

Please update to the latest beta - http://rvgsoftware.fileburst.com/HmBetaUpdate.exe

*Try creating a new UTF DB - http://www.holdemmanager.net/faq/afm...aspx?faqid=146
*Now import a small portion of your \HMArchive so you can see if the problem exists in the new DB - http://www.holdemmanager.net/faq/afm...aspx?faqid=173
*If the new DB seems to work properly, you will want to import the rest of your archives to the new DB, and export/import the hands from the old DB, and then delete the old DB. - http://www.holdemmanager.net/faq/afm....aspx?faqid=21
