Big Brother is probably my favorite reality show. There's a lot of stupid bull**** (as with any reality show) but strategy wise it's tough and really fun to speculate about as a viewer and all the feeds and online updates makes it fun to keep up with.

If I hate comic books and superpowers and gay stuff like that, should I even bother watching season one? Does the superpower crap consume the entire show, or is it still good TV even without that?

Thanks for the reminder, I've gotta finish that one off.
Warning: It was canceled after the writer's strike after 4 seasons The story continues on in novel form for the 5th season. Each season (IMO) was better than the season before it, and by the end it was a truly epic story.

I like her because of Veronica Mars

Speaking of VM, I saw the first 3 episodes of "Party Down" and so far 4-5 actors from VM have made appearances. (+ a grownup Bill from Freaks & Geeks).

Party Down is fun(ny) so far, but i'd have to watch a couple more episodes to see if i would recommend it to people.

It's about the hundredth attempt to do super heroes as if they were "real" so there's no costumes or capes or anything like that. The first season is mostly about "WTF is going on?" which is a big part of what made it so good - Once we found out what was going on it lost a lot of steam and the writers obviously had no idea what to do next.

If you hate everything about super-heroes that's probably going to be hard to overcome. The use of powers in Heroes has usually been pretty understated, likely in part due to budget reasons and also because the writers didn't really know what to do with them. However still a pretty important part of the show. If you can put the whole comic book super-hero idea out of your head and just approached it as general SF/fantasy I'd give season 1 a try but I wouldn't be shocked if you still hated it.

Posted in the Netflix thread, but the British comedy The IT Crowd was an unexpectedly hilarious show. Goofy humor but definitely had me laughing a lot.

I have only read the two "season 5", but they were both very good.

The first is "Welcome To Promise City."

http://www.amazon.com/4400-Welcome-P.../dp/1416543228

The second is "Promises Broken"

http://www.amazon.com/4400-Promises-...ref=pd_sim_b_1

There are a couple stand-alone novels that are NOT the continuation of the story. I have not read either of these.

OMG I just had a friend send me a couple clips of this, HILARIOUS. IS the whole thing available on NFI?

Edit: All three seasons ARE available on instant. I'll be starting this tonight!

I won't even go watch X-Men movies, or Ironman. I don't think I've even seen a comic book movie since one of the Batman's.

I hate comic books and super powers, doesn't interest me at all.

Heroes S1 was really good, though.

Cosign...extremely deep show, it explores ethnic tensions and family relations, though not in an overtly fast-paced way....it's an excellent portrayal how it would feel to live in a place like say, Southie

Yeah, S20 of Survivor was pretty sick. To the dude who said he liked BB: you should definitely check out Survivor (before I got into Survivor, BB was my favorite reality show).

once lost is finished what should i watch...this year i've been watching lost, flashforward (semi-lol), survivor, how to make it in america, the office.

i have:

Eastbound and Down
Fringe
Always sunny
Sons of Anarchy
and a bunch of legal shows (boston legal, practice, etc.)

i'm leaning towards fringe atm

SoA is better than Fringe, despite the recent props for Fringe. A lot better. And I like both shows.

I'd go something like:
SoA
Sunny
Fringe
other stuff

SoA or It's Always Sunny, depending on what kinda show you feel like watching (serious vs comedy).

If you like sci fi Fringe is the way to go. Seaon finale was on the 20th so there is a while to catch up before the next season. The main female character is a horrible actress but if you can get past that the sci fi stuff in it has been really good this season.

Since you are just finishing lost i'd wait a bit before jumping into fringe and go with SoA.

just watched the first episode of mad men, looks like i'm gonna be binging on this for the week.

also, i've been thinking of watching lost... never seen an episode but intrigued to start watching it. that and dexter, 6 feet under, and i still have 2 seasons of the sopranos left (i stopped watching it cuz i was burnted out of shield/niptuck/entourage and it's been a year sooo would i be better of starting sopranos all over?)

also justified is pretty good, surprising but ya.

Burn Notice is back next week is a fun show. Not exceptional but really fun.

Suave... Mad Men then Dexter. Maybe SFU next.

Lost is very overrated. I watched the entire series between December and now. 80% of the episodes are filler for the sake of 'mystery' and have no impact on the overall story. Tons of loose ends weren't addressed. Incredibly tiring show to watch, gets the point of annoying.

Ok gonna watch:
SoA
Fringe
BBT - currently watch but watching old eps

all at once but depending on my mood obv.

I wouldn't say Lost is overrated. It ended up falling short of what it could of been but many are disappointed because of the potential greatness that was possible. It's still worth watching with a lot of bad eps & some of the loose ends. Pretty great overall, which says a lot of how good it was to get our expectations so high.

I don't disagree that it's worth watching, just shouldn't be a priority (vs superior shows like I consider Mad Men/Dexter to be).

'Overrated' only in the regard that many a watercooler tv-n00b considers it the best show of all time when for me it's only a few notches above mediocre.

I liked the first 2 seasons of Lost, but only continued watching after that b/c I like to finish shows that I start (completist/pot-committed/whatever). I wouldn't put it much higher than mediocre either.
