The same goes for Rick's past. We were given an answer and I think that will be all we ever get.
Both were unsatisfying.
I wish they hadn't done anything with the evil Morty plot line. I thought the point of the train episode in season 4 was the writers sending a message to the fans essentially saying "We promise nothing, we may do things that contradict previous stories and we aren't committed to multi episode plots at all."
They should have stuck to that and just left the evil Morty story line alone, the show is clearly better with an episodic formula.
The last two episodes weren't terrible but they sure weren't anything special. On the other hand, they were better than the middle of season 5 which was just, ugh.
