how concerned/serious did raylan take him in that party thing that markham threw?

he was practically laughing at him.

just for those of you so quick to think boon could get the drop on raylan (keep in mind we haven't seen him draw once in an actual shoot out.

real easy to be fast on the draw when it doesn't matter.

edit: oh wtf how does it not show the epic scene when the hitmen have wynona hostage and raylan without a gun and he baits the dude into hitting him so he'll be close enough to disarm him.
that **** was super bad ass.

Raylan is a boss, and I don't perceive Boon to be any kind of threat to him.

Just remember what beardo said.

Beardo: You shot me in the back.
Raylan: If you didn't want to get shot in the back you should have run toward me.

The only way Boon becomes a tangential threat to Raylan is if Markham dies. Boon's end game is much more likely related to Loretta.

Like Boon harming Loretta?

Cool explanation on why they chose that version last season http://copiousnotes.bloginky.com/201...-harlan-alive/

In Entertainment Weekly’s regular post mortem with showrunner Graham Yost, he said:

“I had as a goal from early on using a female cover of the song when a season would end with a dilemma for Ava. It really is the question: We know it’s gonna come down to Raylan and Boyd, but what’s gonna happen to Ava?

There's tv and there's reality. In reality, from a holster like Raylan wears, someone really good can draw and fire a shot in slightly under one second. With a Glock as used in the show, slightly more time. Someone really good with a cowboy type quick draw rig can do it in two or three tenths of a second. If Raylan does the good guy thing and waits until dumb-and-dumber draws first and reacts (about a tenth of a second reaction time at best) to it, he'll basically have bullets in him before he clears leather.

That's assuming they are of equal skill level, and I doubt that's the case.

Just to be clear, I think pretty much the entire audience wants and expects Raylan to destroy Boon, including me. My Boon-might-be-faster comment was more of a, who knows, anything can happen. Whether or not that's plausible given the writing and the style of the show does not concern me, as I'm not trying to analyze and weight the possibilities to be "good at TV," I'm just sitting back and enjoying the ride.

There's probably no character in the history of TV that I'm rooting harder for than Raylan, so it adds to the tension and excitement immensely if I leave myself open to any outcome.

I actually share the view of a few others who believe that someone other than Raylan is going to kill Boon.

In addition, did anyone else think Raylan looked nervous during the most recent stare-down with Boon?

Raylan looked nervous because he was coming up on a life and death situation, no matter how badass a person is you will get nervous in a spot like that. The other 2 times Raylan met Boon it was a very public setting, this one was private and showdown was very possible.

Fair enough. I suppose I was more referring to the general audience rather than the 2+2 audience.

Nunn: I don't think it's clear he quit, though he very well might have. I just think he wanted to take care of this situation with his own rules.

Rbk: glad you stopped talking about whoever this chick raylen is and started talking about the awesome raylan givens instead.

I think one reason Raylan left the badge behind was to set up a true old west gunfight with Boone. Lawmen would take off their badges to offer a "fair" fight when challenged to a duel.

However, I still think it's likely Raylan will be presented with an opportunity to abscond with the loot.

I re-watched the first two episodes of the series to get an idea of how far things have progressed and to see what might come full circle for Raylan. Some thoughts:

-Tim in a tie in the pilot! Cringe worthy.
-Raylan shoots the Miami thug at least 3 times, but shoots Boyd only once and doesn't kill him. Art cracks wise to Raylan about his poor shooting of Boyd.
-Wynona tells Raylan, "You're the angriest man I know." Basically telling him he's just as bad as the people he shoots.

I don't think Raylan is complicit with Ava or Boyd, but he has an emotional connection to each. How that plays out is anyone's guess.

The guy is supposed to be a professional killer, not some random hitchhiker. And he wears a fast draw rig. Safe to say he's going to be faster than anyone with a standard belt holster like Raylan has.

I grew up near Tombstone, and every year they had a formal fast draw contest that I used to watch. I've also shot in matches with World Champion IPSC combat shooters that use automatics and belt holsters similar to Raylan's, and they can't come close to the speed of the cowboy shooters.

Great episode. Seems like Boyd is trying to make sure Ava doesn't get wrecked by Markham. Just a guess, but it would make sense for his character, and he intimated as much with his (****ing awesome) scene with Raylan. That **** was straight out of a video game in the best way.

Is it me or did that shootout with Boyd feel like a dream sequence for a minute?

First its daytime and you hear a couple shots and Ava runs off down the street. Cut to commercial. Return from commercial and its night time and Raylan and Boyd are waxing poetically and shooting at each other.

Seems crazy that they are going to wrap everything up in an hour.

Do we know the guys up in the mountain (that Raylan gave his house to) from earlier seasons?
