It's never been a high rated show, but its ratings have always been good enough to get renewed forever (basically a couple of tenths above the cable bubble throughout its run). This season it's toeing a line you don't really want to toe, but it doesn't matter obviously.

Watched part of Season 1 when it first came out. Just binge watched the entire series in the last week. What an incredible show. I'm disappointed there won't be more seasons but excited to see how they end this.

This is one of the reasons that I am actually glad that they are wrapping the story up this season. Way too many shows go on for too long and become stale.

EDIT: but still, weep mofos it's ending.

I'm going to play devils advocate and say that Raylen winds up having to shoot Ava and then Boyd shoots him in the end. WHAT A TWIST!

Being a whisky snob I had picked up on the bourbons that they used in the show. I figured they were just product placements, esp Wild Turkey. Cool that they aren't and it's there for a reason.

Yeah that was a fun read. I enjoy whiskey but am far from a snob, as are most of my friends. Funny how true it is that different people gravitate toward a particular brand.

Nice whiskey article. Not sure I agree with the characterization of Wild Turkey in the article but might just be because it seemed to be poking at bit at an old favorite. Sure it isn't a artisan single barrel but I don't think of it as a low-class bourbon. Probably just because I don't really know my whiskey very well.

I did like that Katherine keeps Old Forester -- my current "everyday" choice -- in her suite.

My grandmother came from Hazard County, KY. Her whiskey of choice was Seagrams. Go figure. Although she would get Old Granddad for special occasions.

Damn that was a good episode. Loretta's speech was right up there with some of the best dialogue that the show has offered.

Love how they set that up too. I didn't even consider they'd bring her in like that. That was perfect.

If anyone touches a hair on Loretta's head, I'm going to be upset.

Of course Duffy was the rat! How could've been anyone else? I'm disappointed I didn't see that.

And I love how they get rid of one spectacularly colorful bad guy in Choo Choo and immediately replace him with the guy who thinks he's the fastest gun in the west.

I just mean the money that is untouchable, and the ideas of the storylines that surround that money.

I felt a little bad I didn't get that he was the rat, too, but I think it's forgivable because it's a little hard to tell how far back and how high up Duffy went in the organization since the event happened so long ago.

They must have meetings where they ask, "What guy should Raylan have pwn himself next?"

I think this episode was very uneven. The party scene was excellent, but at least two scenes were just silly:

1) SeaBass (Scott Grimes) tries to rob Markham and Hale because, why exactly? He could have simply disappeared with the money he was already paid, but instead he robs two of the most dangerous people he knows because he wants some jewelry? It feels like the scene only existed so that Katherine could shoot him through her purse.

2) The scene where Zachariah chains Boyd while the fuse is burning, and Boyd ends up freeing himself with moments to spare and has to outrun the fireball, Mission Impossible style? I found this entire scene pretty silly and cringe-worthy.

3). Ava managing to start a kitchen fire undetected by flipping over a pot when the cook's back is turned?

I thought that this was the weakest episode so far this season.

Ye Zachariah going for the batman death on Boyd annoyed me. You just cracked him over the head with a bar, if you want him dead that bad you don't leave anything to chance.

Zacariah's not right in the head, you've already been told.

(it's TV, it's made to be suspenseful sometimes. Don't be a nit.)

Dom: digging this john Wayne kid. Feel like he could be really awesome or w little too over the top silly. Betting on the former.

Chess: as long as we're nitting it up, one thing that annoyed me in 1) is it felt near impossible that guy would let her have uncontrolled access to her purse like that.

Yeah, if I have any complaint about this episode, it's that I saw the gun-in-purse bit coming from a mile away.
