Seems to me the whole Grimes scene could have been avoided if she had just taken a look through her peep hole.

That wasn't a good scene, but they're tying up loose ends. He's a loose cannon, and if he disappeared off into the sunset, a lot of people would wonder why they never addressed him again. It seems unlikely that Markham and Hale are lasting the whole season, and Grimes would be the only one left from that original storyline. As with everyone else in that crew, actions without thinking them through caused a lot of pain. He was definitely an idiot for not seeing that she had a different special gift waiting for him in her purse, but going from a military career into a life of crime doesn't really speak highly to his thinking skills.

As far as we know he also has no idea who she is. He just thinks she's some normal chick that his boss is with.

If he didn't know who she was, how would he know to go to her hotel room? It's a little hard to buy he did a nice recon follow mission on his boss. It goes without saying how suicidal him doing something like that would be (was), if that's the case.

The whole storyline with Grimes seemed pointless, should have just had him killed in the shootout with Choo Choo / Walker and the Marshalls.

i agree with the two nitpicks posted above, this show havent offered much of those so they are legit whine imo. Although the whole chaining boyd and let him "drown in his own greed" thingy is somewhat understandable with the "hes not right in the head" because he couldve just not decided to help boyd when he fell down, I mean how the f would a guy 10 feets away have a clue wether or not he slipped his fingers.

When Earl finds Boyd trapped by the fuse, shouldn't Boyd tell him to stop the fuse first instead of just giving him the hammer and running off/hoping it all works out?

Totally agree that the Grimes scene was terrible, maybe one of the worst scenes of the series. Everyone saw that gun coming. But then Loretta just owned the second half of this episode, dressed Markham down something fierce.

He said something about him banging her while they were working, so he might have thought she was just the chick he's currently banging.

Screw you! Mary Steenburgen is awesome in this, wish she'd been in more than just the one season.

Very, very nicely done.

I love how they just laid multiple scenarios as to how this would all go down on the table at the beginning of the ep. It was like they figured everyone would have a theory, so why not let it all out up front.

Only 3 eps. Does suck that they shorted us 7-10 minutes on this ep.

I don't know why Markham would bring Boyd the money though when he's all but had it confirmed that Katherine is working against him.

$10 million is a lot to give away for someone when two marshals have tipped you off that she's trying to f**k you over.

I thought the same, why would he give up the 10 milly?

When Avery delivered the bags, I noticed Boyd only checks the top of the bags, he never lifts or handles them.

My first instinct was that there was probably emulex underneath that top layer of cash. I was worried this was also true when Ava escaped with the bags.

Wouldn't you also consider putting a GPS tracker with the bags/money?

I think he actually loves her and the money is in the bags

Yeah, the ending was so good I decided to forgive the deus ex machina of Markham just handing over 10m after a 9 episode chase for the money.

Also seems a little weird to introduce a new wacky henchman so late in the game when they could have just used Dillahunt in that role.

Boyd would immediately check the bags after escaping, I would think. He ain't stupid. And Markham and Katherine do love one another. They're both nutty and trying to screw one another over, but still...

Women are the rake. Wouldn't mind Ava getting away with the money and living happily ever after, she's been through a lot.

But Markham had just been told that Boyd and Katherine are working together to steal his money so when Boyd calls him a few hours later off Katherine's phone saying "bring me all the money or she's dead" it has to look like the most obvious setup ever. A guy like him should 100% lol and say "kill the bitch" in that spot after everything he's learned.

This is a good point. Her's my speculation on what went down:

• Markham is setting up Boyd in some way - probably with the content of the bags.
• Boyd didn't have time to check the bags any better before he arrived at the rendezvous with Ava.
• Ava absconds with the money, but she doesn't have the smarts of Boyd and will not check the bags thoroughly.
• Markham will get his revenge - but not on Boyd. It will be on Ava.

not sure which was more unbelievable:

Markham handing over the $$$ or
Boyd leaving them both alive after taking the $$$
