Pure agony on his face after he went small on the first DD in DJ. Got worse when the woman got the 2nd one and it was about the all time easiest clue ever. FWIW, he could essentially lose the game by missing an all in his DD, so going smallish was OK though think he went too small.

His look after not buzzing in on the "wheelhouse" question was pretty priceless.

Sorry about that. Thanks for the heads up.

^Wheelhouse look and look when he saw the DD he bet small on were both excellent. He also mouthed "F*ck" at one point which was kind of comical as you could see his genuine pain.

I edit/deleted a line from my post because I wasn't sure about anonymity issues, but it looks like he has signed some posts by that sn, so ftr one of the reasons that look was really funny is that AJ's most recent (I think?) 2p2 screenname is omgwheelhouse.

Calling Toby M a huge nit was nice.

I thought he called Sampras a nit and said Toby was more aggro.

I think he said that Sampras played "pretty close to the vest" and that Spider-man was more "risky"

Was dying to see if he'd answer "what is busto?" on the question where insolvency was the answer.

Becky was a solid challenger and I think against most champions she is a favorite - she was DD hunting and knew to jam on the single Jeopardy DD - but glad to see Alex win and probably clinch a spot in the ToC (it's based on money, right?)

Discussed here earlier this month. Based on wins first, then money. 5 wins 50k > 4 wins 100k > 4 wins 90k.

5 wins will guarantee he is in ToC, but 4 wins for $107k probably would be enough to get him in already.

trying to figure out what level Becky was on with that $2101 FJ bid or it was just "lol if he bids $0 I can win"

Maybe she wasn't confident in the category so she just bid an amount that would cover Alex if he doesn't get the question right(or the unlikely event that he bids 0).

Actually pretty much optimal wager from Becky.

She cannot win if Alex gets it right and cover bets. 1st place gets it right over 50% of the time, leaders almost always cover bet.

If 1st gets it wrong, then 2nd is also likely to get it wrong (almost 60%).

So if she can't win if Alex gets it right, and she is likely to get it wrong if he gets it wrong (by a factor of 60:40), then she should wager based on her best chance which is a wrong-wrong answer scenario.

There is a small chance that Alex gets cute or hates the category and bets $0 (she has been in the audience and watched him bet $0 2/3 days-albeit in lock games).

So why not bet just enough to cover the $0 wager? She still wins wrong-wrong when he cover bets and now she wins wrong-right if wagers $0. Might add 1% to her win chance, but 1>0. She gives up nothing on the other side.

That girl was good and would have probably won a game or 2 if she hadn't run into Alex. What's the policy on that. The people that happened to get in the way of Ken Jennings, can they apply to go on Jeopardy again?

I know in general, spelling doesn't count in FJ, but had *lambda* been a correct answer(it wasn't, but for the sake of argument), would misspelling it as "lamda" as one challenger did, have made the answer wrong, since the clue specified "when spelled out in English"?

If she is >50% to answer FJ correct based on the category. Otherwise the optimal wager is what she actually did.
