Anyone watch Manhunt: Unabomber?

I let the entire show Q up on my DVR and have binged it the last few days and I find it enjoyable and enlightening.

I don't think this is a spoiler but if you're not too familiar with the case and want to stay that way until after you finish watching the show, then this might be considered a spoiler you should avoid reading:

Yim,
I loved it, thought it was compelling (and I knew a decent amount about the case) and really well done

wrapping up the final episode as I type this

did you notice:

Spoiler:
how they appeared to take extreme/random artistic liberties in how they portrayed the people involved?

Like Stan Cole. He's a real ass hole or they made him look like one which if not true, sucks for him.

It was interesting that they chose to show so many of the people involved in the investigation screwing each other over in order to take credit for other peoples work. I suppose it might actually be like that but if so, its rather disgusting IMO, as I'd like to think my primary concern, if I was in their shoes would be to catch the criminals they're pursuing, not angling for credit

I felt the exact same way Yim, that was probably my only gripe with the series. Doubt it really went down that way but who knows. Still was a really good show that I'm glad that I was able to find because I really didn't hear anyone taking about it.

The Vietnam War is absolutely devastating.

How the U.S. completely bungled this from the very beginning is amazing and tragic.

Vietnam was a completely different reality in the US due to the draft.

In fact, it's the exact opposite. Militarily, Iraq and Afghanistan were pretty tactically competent, while Vietnam was totally FUBAR.

I wish there more shows like The Good Place. Lighthearted, undemanding, just 25 mins long, yet still story-driven, smart and well acted. Sometimes you don't want to watch something as intensely demanding as Game of Thrones but still has a plot, and The Good Place perfectly hits that escapism sweetspot.

Just about and he seems to like it. His cell is only a few feet smaller than the shack he lived in

Yes he is in solitary for 23 hours/day. He gets 1 hour/day, when the weather's warm, to interact with other inmates like this:

minus the scenery.

I watch the 'explicit language' streaming version of 'The Vietnam War'.

I was a kid during the war and as a young man had lots of interaction with vets, enough to see how it had ****ed them up. Heard stories they told and witnessed some bizarre behavior.

I'd taken in a lot of the history of it since, seen the docs etc.

Holy ****ing ****, this is outstanding.

I'd never heard the presidential tapes. Wow. Makes me wonder what gets said in private about current events, versus the bull**** we're fed. Everyone knew the war was stupid and pointless, and they sold it anyway. Even Ike.

It was brutal last night when the one guy was admitting to partaking what was basically a gang rape.

It's all about money. Tis truly abhorrent. Fun facts: Lady Bird Johnson (LOL) had thousands of shares of Bell Helicopter stock and LBJ sold off his stake in Haliburton the day JFK was killed.
Quote:
Pat Holloway, former attorney to both Poppy Bush and Jack Crichton, recounted to me an incident involving LBJ that had greatly disturbed him. This was around 1PM on November 22, 1963, just as Kennedy was being pronounced dead. Holloway was heading home from the office and was passing through the reception area. The switchboard operator excitedly noted that she was patching the vice president through from Parkland Hospital to Holloway’s boss, firm senior partner Waddy Bullion, who was LBJ’s personal tax lawyer. The operator invited Holloway to listen in. LBJ was talking “not about a conspiracy or a tragedy,” Holloway recalled. “I heard him say: ‘Oh I gotta get rid of my goddamn Halliburton stock.’ Lyndon Johnson was talking about the consequences of his political problems with his Halliburton stock at a time when the president had been officially declared dead. And that pissed me off… It really made me furious.”

Man, last night's Vietnam was brutal. the story of the Japanese-American officer going from one machine gun to the next, trying to keep the Viet Cong from overwhelming their position was amazing.

just saw this episode and its devastating to see what war does to people from all sides

its also fascinating to juxtapose the current issues inflaming folks today compared to the litany of issues being protested back then
