The tequila scene was a little disturbing imo - not sure what aspect of Walt they were trying to show - that he has developed a very mean streak?
hank was moving in on his turf, ie his son.

also, walt proly didnt want to have a party. so he was drunk and acting out.

I keep chuckling to myself everytime I see Skyler's new boss man because he has NO frickin idea what a world of pain he is getting into.

I'm not gonna lie. I enjoyed seeing Skyler's cleavage.....hope we get to see a little more down the road.

I didn't really get why Walt would take his newfound frustrations and confusion with the remission news on Walt Jr. Feeding him tequila in front of Hank didn't make a lot of sense. Not that it was supposed to, but I still feel like we should have gotten some clue into Walt's brain about why he chose that avenue to act out.

I really loved the Apology Girl insert. That was a great moment; the image she drew and the look on Jesse's face. That boy is in love.

Not crazy about how the Skyler/boss subplot is being explored. I hope it improves, but so far it's dragging down the show by being all setup and very little movement.

Yeah, I see the Hank/Walt part, but by "disturbing" I meant Walt giving young Walt 3 shots of tequila. I don't see what he was doing there or what point he was making.

This scene was not about Walt Jr., It was about the way Hank treats Walt Sr. like he is not a man. In season 1 all hank did was basicly call Walt a pussy every chance he got and Walt took it partly because he WAS a pussy and partly because he needed to learn about selling meth. Now Walt is realizing he is more of a man than Hank is and he is tired of Walt Jr. looking up to Hank instead of him.

This scene goes a long way in showing why Walt will continue to cook even though the threat of immenent death is no longer hanging over him. When he was leaving the message the next day for Skyler and he said "that wasn't me" he seemed frightened because he was realizing it WAS who he has become

I'm goddawful at this sort of analysis, but I got the impression that it was a gesture on his part, after being corrupted himself, to "corrupt" his son - that is, introduce him to something considered dangerous or wrong.

What I took from it, particularly Walt's smile as Walt Jr. puked in the pool, was that Walt taught Walt, Jr. a life lesson that partying with mezcal wasn't as cool as Hank makes it out to be, therefore Hank isn't as cool as he makes himself out to be. Also an opportunity for Walt to distance himself from Hank, esp. after the close call with the arrest of the look-alike.

Just discovered Breaking Bad, and i'm off the back of a weekend marathon Season 1-2 and love the show.

Walt being forced to take stock of his life and going through the stages of grief in the episode from denial in his chat with Jesse to anger with Hank to the final (awesome) acceptance final scene was great.

Random speculation - Janes dad and the Mexican cartels from the song a few eps back are linked.

FWIW - Thats the second time the red bear has been in the intro, it was scooped from the pool and Walts glasses were shown way back in episode 4. This time around we got crayons, a car with a shattered (gunshot?) windscreen I dont recognise and 2 body bags. Any trainspotters seen the bear in another scene?

I feel like the bear has been in at least 3 intros, but I may be rememebering wrong.

All the windows to his car were shattered, similar to how they would shatter from an explosion.

If it was it would make the show much better. Walt Jr. was so annoying again this ep.

As for the bear in the pool, at least the third time it was in the intro.

She's going to be super horny because her hormones are all ****ed from being pregnant for 2 years and they're going to bone right at the end of her 7th trimester.

I think they may have implied that they boned in this episode. The last we saw they were picking up the pencils together.

Concerning skyler's boning, she clearly wanted to bone the boss the previous day, what with all the hand grabbing. She is clearly very distant from Walt, to the point that she doesn't even bother listening to his voice mail apology. Then the next day after work she stalls her boss by knocking over the pens. For what, just to talk? Then they cut quickly to Walt in the hardware store for the final scene. If they didn't bone right then, its clear they will very soon.

Good post.

I really hope Walt goes 100% heel, Godfather style. I think a show with a main character that loses all redeeming qualities would be awesome.
