I'm glad I didn't watch the preview, no need when I can catch up on it itt.
05-19-2009 , 02:29 AM
lol

it's pretty cool that they warn you that next week's preview is coming on in 60 seconds so you have time to change the channel. i hate when shows just jump right into the preview.

That is a pretty big jump for some people, and there are a lot of people who have a drug problem and hide behind the fact that they've never done heroin.
i don't think it's a gigantic plot hole or anything. i just found it a little strange.

Yeah, I could definitely see the reasoning behind that line of thought.

I personally think it is pretty true of the character, but it all depends on how you look at it.

no its not, lots of people don't watch them

that heroin scene was almost exactly like the first time i shot up. replace hot chick with my best friend, no meth, no tar and god damn it was like a replay. that floating scene may seem lame, but thats exactly how i felt when i took that first shot.

that scene where he cant wake up is ridiculous though. i have been high enough where i couldnt stand up or whatever that state = time to call ambulance.

it would seem like a pretty bad idea to rob someone who knows you're a drug dealer that owns a bunch of restaurants. even if walt wouldn't immediately rat him out, he could firebomb a bunch of pollo restaurants.

Mexican Mud and mixed in some crystal or maybe coke for a speed ball, is my guess. It was black and then she mixed in some white crystals.

it was meth she mixed in. she said something like "i like to add some ice to it".

Amazing episode. Why is nobody talking about the opening scene? I was loving the little kid circling around on the bike and afraid he would be collateral damage a la the 12 year-old girl in Fresh on the basketball court. When he turned out to be the shooter I was like ooooh snap. Great great scene, directed beautifully.

I also loved the heroin scene (along with its music), the joke about Walt's phone buzzing in the classroom ceiling, and of course the last scene which had me shaking with tension. It's a bit dramatically convenient that Skylar happens to go into labor the moment Walt has his first million-dollar drug deal, but damn if it wasn't intense. Such an insanely good show.

<3 Odenkirk. His reaction shot when he found out it was 38 pounds and not ounces was gold.

Really bugged me throughout the episode that I couldn't place the actor who played Gus. It was Giancarlo Esposito, who is probably only notable to people that watched Homicide: Life on the Streets.

+1 God I love this show. You said pretty much everything I wanted to. Opening scene/heroin/ending scene. I can't believe the episode ended like that.

People ITT are doing a good job of using spoiler tags ( Yeah previews included), so its cool.

An "important" part of this episode was how Skyler would deal with finding out that her boss was doing something illegal ( cooking the books ), although not on the same level as what Walt is doing ( or close ), but it could foreshadow and give us an idea of how she might react to the news if/when she finds out, depending on what she did/does. ( Report him, Look past it, help him hide the discrepancies better etc...)

Spoiler:
this is the most logical after seeing that Jesse has his girl threaten Walt, after we see that Jesse is on the phone with Walt like "they stole it man, its like they knew right where to look. So I'm thinking that happens, then Jesse hears the message and loses it.

Good point, I couldn't figure out how the whole Skyler working/ potential affair plot line fit into the greater scheme of the show, but that makes sense.

If Walt gets this surgery he is gonna have to explain where the $$$ is coming from to Skylar SOON and seeing how she reacts to criminal activity is obviously important. It looks like she will hesitantly accept it if the $$ is going toward saving Walt's life. What happens after Walt is cured and goes back to selling meth will also be a great source of conflict for next season.

Once Skyler knows where the money is coming from this opens up a bunch of possible great plot lines. Skyler could give in to having the affair with the boss because hey "at least he's not a drug dealer," or after she confesses to Walt that she has been cooking the books for her boss, he can come to her in some sort of emergency where he needs to launder money quickly (possibly to hide it from Hank) and she becomes part of Walt's growing drug empire.

He got a text and made a deal with some guy at the restaurant; I'm not sure he works for the Chicken Guy.
05-19-2009 , 11:59 AM
I dont think that Skylar & Walt will go over that smoothly if one finds out about meth/possible affair. I took it when Walt was literally repairing the foundation of the house to be much more of a figurative symbol. In the same episode that is where Skylar goes back to work and is already being hit on and lying. I'd predict that when it comes up for either character it will not go over well, opposed to some cooperative cooking the books scheme. Who knows, but I'd bet against.

That'd be a pretty sick twist if Saul managed to set up this meet in order to steal the meth from Walt. Walt thinking he was robbed by Gus, Jesse thinking he was screwed by Walt, and Saul walking away with a big smile on his face. Could make for some interesting developments. Kind of depends on if Saul knows that Walt and Gus met though. I don't think he does.

I'm thinking that Skylar is going to help her boss doctor the books in exchange for a cut, to pay for Walt's operation. She knows they need cash quick, and from her point of view there's not really any other options. Having her and Walt ducking different law enforcement agencies while trying to keep each other from finding out could be interesting.

I can see this whole series getting pretty convoluted pretty quickly.

Nitnote: Agree that discussing previews should be kept in spoilers. I actively go out of my way to avoid any advance knowledge if possible. I even managed to see Star Trek on the weekend knowing nothing about it at all except that it was from JJ Abrams, and that Sylar was spock.
05-19-2009 , 12:23 PM
I dont think Saul would double cross Walt. Saul seems to value legal agreements pretty good. He wouldn't risk being disbarred. I think hes on Walts team. not to mention, the grade walt makes meth, its a cash cow, why wouldnt saul want in on that.

and i'll keep any preview talk in spoilers from now on

from amctv.com (good stuff here almost daily):

Q: Did Bryan Cranston ever give you any guff for playing the "other man" to his on-screen wife?

A: [Laughs] Bryan was totally busting my chops. One time I went in to get lunch, and back from behind me I heard this, "F---er." [Laughs] And Bryan comes up to me and says, "Hey man, stay away from my wife." Bryan was really funny and we gave each other s---, but it was one of those things where you felt at ease right away.

Actually, the random dude in the restaurant might be working for the Cartels, though I think it's more likely that they kill Walt and or Jesse and then take the stuff then set up some convoluted deal.
