I wonder if a fake spike was on or Hanie straight up didn't know the rule. I'm guessing the later

cut down his turnovers and we win this game!

also that so called 'trick play' in the red zone was lolbad. cost us big time

Hanie wasn't good, but if not for even just that one horrible pick at the end of the first half, there's a good chance we win this game. Plus Oakland is easily a better team than 4/5 of the ones left on the schedule, so if 10-6 gets us in the playoffs, I'm still optimistic. The real question is whether Cutler coming back after 6 weeks off is even enough for this team to make a deep run as a 6 seed.

"Deep run" as a 6 seed = beating the packers

No deep runs for us

maybe, but nfl reseeds after each round so unless the 6th seeded Falcons/Lions beat the Saints in New Orleans, then we'd be playing in Green Bay 2nd round no matter what seed we are. Bring them on, they're obv terrific this year but the Saints and the Bears are the only teams in the NFC that they're at all worried about, let's do it.

Today was pretty ugly, but we have five games left and we'll probably be favored in four of them, meanwhile the lions are only going to be favorites in two of their five games and the falcons in three of theirs, and we're already a game up on both of them because of tiebreakers, so I still like our chances. But yeah, we probably still need 11 wins to get @Dallas/NYG instead of @Saints for the first round.

my thoughts while watching the first half?

for such a strong start to the season, watching this team circle the drain w/ hanie at the helm is going to be brutal.

Martz ghana Martz at half cost us this game.

Hanie's a kid, and an obedient one at that. We already know Cutler disagrees with Martz's gamecalling, but Hanie probably has so little leeway in that relationship, he figures it's not worth arguing.

2nd and inches with a timeout, 40 seconds left, 5 yard line and Marion Barber's been destroying fools at the line of scrimmage...and pounding the rock isn't the snapcall there? That's lolbad playcalling.

You guys are overreacting. Hanie isn't good but he'll get better. We're in this until the end. Need to win the ones at home for sure because the road games in Minneapolis and Denver are tougher than people were saying even if Cutler is alive.

I'm not a Bears fan so take this FWIW. To me Heine appears to be talented but at the same time is a loose cannon. He needs to take better care of the football. I found it interesting that he seemed to "connect" with Johnny Knox well in the Raiders game. Knox has 28 receptions this year but 7 of them have come in the last two games. Knox made a very nice catch for a TD against the Chargers so maybe his game started to pick up before Heine started. I don't know how many targets each Bears WR had but I'm guessing that the Heine-Knox connection is a little stronger than the Cutler-Knox connection FWIW.

Raiders are a good team and in my view play a lot better 'D' than a lot of folks give them credit for.

They need to actually like, let Hanie throw the ball more, as scary as that sounds. It was pretty obvious they would just be doing short check downs, screens, and running plays, so that makes it rather easy for the D to stop if they know whats coming.

No offense guys, I get it, but let's not pretend we can call better plays than NFL coaches. Bottom line, they played a good team, away, with a virgin QB. Had they cut the turnovers in half, it may have been a differ result.

Ummm, thats not how being a sports fan works buddy

And if youre seriously defending Martz in any way, shape, or form, Apox on thee

They carried the ball 22 times (27 if you count Hanie's 5 scrambles) and passed 36. How are they going to pass more?

I understand that being a fan your questioning things, but I think your over reacting, similar to Cutler haters reacted to his int's last year.

yes 36 passes, i said non checkdowns, short slants, and screens. How many of those 36 went beyond 10 yards? How many beyond 10 yards and were not rolling out/throwing away, or to forte?

I was only listening to the 2nd half on the radio, but the first half every single throw was either while being chased (standard) or a screen to forte or short checkdown to like davis. Granted a few of the longer ones he missed by a mile, but I said nothing about overall pass attempts and I didnt get to see the 2nd TD play. He threw decently long once for his first TD, then they seemed to abandon it.

My "Martz ghana Martz" comment was only in reference to the call at the end of the 1st half. It was AIDS-bad.

I think that is the third or fourth time he has called that play since it was set up perfect and failed in the first game of the year. It has been smashed every time. Hey Mike it's on tape now. Stop calling it.

screens seemed ineffective since it felt like the raiders had 8 in the box set to auto for the game. That many people around the line, and they know that's hanie's quick out- well, it's only a matter of time before disaster.

He'll have an opportunity to impress and hopefully Jay will be ready for the playoffs if we get there.

This could be a really positive turn of events from a big picture perspective.
