If some of the vlogs in recent weeks didn't already make it clear, this one cements that Boski is clearly in character for his vlogs now - as well he should be, taking a page from the WWF/Howard Stern model of haters tuning in even more than those who like you. You can tell it's an act since when he plays online and streams it for 3+ hours he's very reserved and not over the top at all.

Watching Trooper's newest "Trooper Thursday" vlog, it looks like TT is down to about 15 people, or less.

The Feather does seem to be one of his few regulars, along with PA and TBC..

Boski makes some the of the best, as well as some of the worst, Las Vegas poker vlogs out there.

I don't watch The ACR shill ones anymore, but his regular tournament vlogs are 10/10.

Either way, he is marketing himself very well..

Several weeks ago, the mods deleted posts that I made which they misinterpreted as trolls. They weren't trolls. They were what I thought was really happening.

Specifically, I made the observation that Boski - taking a page from pro wrestling, Floyd Mayweather (who got at least 50% of his pay-per-view money from 'haters' who wanted to see him lose), and also Trooper (who is 90% responsible for keeping this thread alive and who has made the totally self-destructive and stupid decision to edit negative comments from his youtube videos) - had turned heel. "Heel" is a pro wrestling term for bad guy. "Baby face" is pro-wrestling term for good guy.

I stand by my observation and prediction that Boski has decided to brand himself as a "heel". I think that it is a good decision. Trooper would have a whole lot more youtube views had he not banned the haters. Boski can take that space if he plays the game right:

Namely, make a lot more posts and do a deep study on the subject of what the public truly considers a "douche' and then very deliberately project douche behaviors (physical appearance, language, tonality, body language, actions/treatment of others, etc.) maximally in his vlogs.

Most of the action in the Jaman vlogs is presented visually on screen unlike most other vloggers who talk through the hands out loud so unfortunately I couldn't follow. Still solid tho. The bar for poker vlogging has been raised tremendously over the last year.
I like JV for his pure poker content, and Jaman is the most artistically produced vlog. I'm engaged in his vlogs the whole time. I also really like the music he plays during his poker table segments and have downloaded some of those artists.

With all the wrestling talk, would that mean Jeff Boski:Kenny Omega? Arguably the best at it, but the entire character being a very thin veiled troll that makes so him polarizing?

Sorry for the super obscure reference. I couldn't help it. That last vlog had me rolling, yet fascinated at the same time.

I agree with Nemee stepping his already high-production level up to an insane level, so much so that after his last vlog I messaged him to ask him if he got a new camera or something. As it was hard to believe he and I still had the same one! Ha.

Personally, I have a blast making the vlogs, I like the whole process. The filming, the editing, the music, being creative, all of it. If I ever stop enjoying that, I'll stop vlogging...I'm FOR SURE not in it to be "famous" or "monetization monies" or "have the most subs".

I do like the "legacy" aspect of it, I like being able to create something and leaving a mark on a community however small that mark is...that part is cool(to me).

I am just catching up on 2+2 after a few days, but Jaman said it PERFECTLY! I am inspired by Neeme, Owen, Jaman, Johnny, etc. and I want us ALL to succeed...whatever that means! I am doing my vlog as a "snapshot in time" of something that I love to do. I want my kids and grandkids to have something tangible of me after I am gone. It allows me to be creative, have fun, work hard, and more enjoy the game I am passionate about. If I can help others in some small way, that is terrific! My vlog has not caught on as much as others, and that is OK! But know I am inspired by the other productions!

I like boski but where does he get that kind of money?
I've seen most of his vlogs and he looks like a small time winner.

I have a feeling his family is rich, and letting a dog in a 100k vehicle is silly

Folding an open ended straight flush draw and hitting it. Priceless.

Watching this vlog the term from Rounders "Mopes at the table" comes to mind.

As for "trying" you have to put the whole thing into context. What are you exactly trying to accomplish at Westgate in a cheap NL game? I mean at least Jaman plays 2/5 and does it well.

If you are a Trooper fan this is what you have now and forever. Get up, no shave, talk about something that makes no sense. Curse about something. Get in car. Go eat some food. Overpay for coffee. Get into a 1/2 game with no hand analysis. Just some philosophical diatribe on why you lost. Once in awhile have Female with epic rack on to save the day. Then tell the haters off or something.

Repeat.

If i was to guess, i'd say humble financial beginnings. Crushed poker for a few years. Moved to Vegas. Was floundering a bit but still making 40-65K from the MTTs and had a healthy 200 average buy in bankroll with backers for the bigger stuff.

Was invested decently heavily into Crypto and was smart enough to skim a lot of the profits off during the great run up.

Now is considering putting a decent amount of those profits into a ridiculously nice vehicle.

Once you include all the expenses associated with a channel, you are not making money on the channel unless you are either being paid sponsorship money or are promoting your own businesses.
What expenses are you referring to? I'm not interested in the amounts but what are you spending money on? I would have believed expenses are low if you have the camera, editing software, and computer already because you are hosting on youtube's computers. I thought the only variable is the value of your own time. Thanks.

If you're not counting your "time" as an expense, you're doing it wrong. If it's a source of income that you're treating like a business, you should be compartmentalizing your work into your rate per hour just like poker.

Time is money

I was going to comment anyway, but nice added bonus to win a ticket. I guess the vlog was ok. Personally, I'd really like to know why you are in the market for a $100k+ car. Did you cash in some of your bitcoins? Are you really using this as an incentive to try to get to $100k in live tourny cashes? Some more background would have been nice. From a viewers standpoint, it just seems you want to own a really expensive car for whatever reason as the Jeep and the Tesla are pretty much on the opposite ends of the spectrum in several regards. I personally dont understand buying an expensive new car straight off the lot....immediate depreciation is a killer. Rather spend $40k on something like a 67 Cadillac Eldorado which is guaranteed to go UP in value, unless the economy completely tanks. Plus, it's a pretty cool car. But it's your money.....

At least he put down a towel. But yeah if that dog yacks or has the runs that is going to be one very expensive bill from Tesla I'm sure.

As far as his winnings go, he made most of his money online in the glory years. Not wealthy by any means though just from that. Either this buying a $100k car is simply a joke for his vlog or he's invested well over the years because obviously you need some serious wealth to consider buying a $140k car.

For most people though the "up-front expense" would never be recouped with vlogging.
A decent camera will run you around $500. Editing software is another couple of hundred.
A computer(and most likely an external drive) will add a grand or so. If you want to go with a Mac(my choice) that'll add around $2500+ . Want to throw a drone in the mix, tack on another $1000. Tripods, memory sticks, action camera(goPro style), extended warranties, etc...So you've dropped all this money and you still don't have a single sub yet and you kind of need all that(minus the drone), just to get started.

Time is the biggest factor though BY FAR, that's why you really have to enjoy the ENTIRE process, it's almost "hobby-like". Timelapses, drone-flying, city shots, uploading, downloading, rendering, editing, etc. Poker Priest I think said it best when asked why he stopped vlogging..."It's the opportunity cost!", especially if you are playing for a living. The 6-12 hours it can take to produce one is a few missed sessions, for very little return...if any.

I think some people got into it for the $$$ and quickly found out there really isn't that much $$$ in it honestly. I'd love the $1.9 per 1000 views to be accurate but I don't think the algorithm is that easy, the $$$ fluctuates greatly, depending on what ads are shown, time of year, engagement country, etc. There are a ton of variables.

Here I'll give you some RAW numbers:
My highest viewed video to date is "I Figured Out The Secret To Poker" it has 65,655 views and a total watch time of 426,401 minutes...my revenue on that $104.
Compare that with "What Do You Mean "Lost"?" which I released about a week ago. It has 16,287 views and a total watch time of 254,859 minutes...my revenue on that is $107

However, when I dig deeper into the statistics I can see that "What Do You Mean Lost?" got a lot higher percentage of views outside of the United States. Canada, Germany, United Kingdom and Australia especially. The ad rates in those countries is higher at times than here in the states.

There are sites like SocialBlade that are pretty accurate in some aspects(views, sub count, etc), on revenue though it appears to be waaaaay off.

"I figured out the secret to poker" probably took me 3 hours to edit. I was doing very little post production work and was just sitting in a hotel room banging it out.
"What do you mean Lost" probably took me 8-10 hours to edit.

I do alot more post-production work now(all the graphical stuff), sift thru a ton of music, email some artists to get an "ok" to use their music, color-correct some things, film alot more(Day 2 of my vegas trip netted SEVEN HOURS of footage, that I edited down to 2 vlogs) thus have to edit alot more but I honestly have a really good time thru the whole process.

Hope that helps

Jaman
