Yea I agree the numbers are bleak but anyone grinding 1/2 for a living probably knows the reality.
Playing 40 hours a week and beating the game for 10bb/hour you're looking at an annual income of $38,400. After taxes/health insurance you're pocketing closer to $27,000/year at best. Add in life expenses and maybe trying to save a little you're living not too comfortably, not much room for costly hobbies or excursions, and definitely not enough to add to your hypothetical 401k/retirement account.
This is why that promo gig at MGM was good for Trooper because he added 32% to his hourly via these promos. But then got salty and cried like a ****h when the MGM manager told him not to film there.
Nevertheless you gotta get yourself to 2/5 and beating that for a good clip to live more comfortably.
Also you need a tournament backer and try to score a big one over the WSOP.
Playing 1/2 for a living is a real stressful grind. The fact that Trooper wastes most of his spending money paying exorbitant prices for food on the strip is mind boggling. He could eat cheaply for $150/month if he really wanted to be frugal but he'd rather spend $150/week on coffee and crap food.
