Whats sad is if he just sucked it up and was a poker dealer for a year he could easily save 20-30k and then he would be in far better financial shape and easily be playing 2/5 if not 5/10. But of course he wants to stick it to the man lol
Yup,and that would make much more sense if he has like a bankroll(liferoll) in the 10k ballpark. Like thats why he is obsessed with saving 1 dollar here and 40 cents there. Because he has to due to a limited liferoll+it gives him some sense of being in control/being responsible. Its part of the coping mechanism imo.

Its just not a likely scenario that a guy rambles on time and time again regarding meaningless amounts of money, being insanely scared of swings in the game, leaving Vegas during the most juicy time of the year-if the guy is really sitting comfortable with lets say for example a 30k bankroll.

I wouldn't be shocked if he had 25-30k. Some people live way below their means and some people live way above them. It's clear he's not actually good at poker he's just a mega nit. When he lists his biggest wins and losses ever they're so small especially considering how long he plays for. He'll take week long trip with his friend to California and his friend with have 4-5 days where the win or loss each time would probably crack Nomad's top 10 or 20 all time playing in the same games. I have no reason to think he'd actually make more money in 2/5 nl. People can buy in deeper, they're less stupid, player pools are smaller so people will get to know him quicker etc.

It’s been a fun few days at wsop. I:
- peed next to Barry Greenstein
- saw Jamie Gold wearing all WSOP gear
- got to see Robbie Jade Lew from behind
- introduced myself to Steve “Cuz” Buckner and got to hear all about his recent bout with bronchitis
- saw some of our favorite vloggers, including RDP, Boski, Johnnie Vibes
- but only one person gave me swag:

Spoiler:

And he says a new vlog will be up soon!

Nah, that would take too much dedication to the business side of things

excellent trip report, a model for succinctness, puts the reader directly in your shoes in an entirely self-centered and entertaining way.

thanks.

Okay, so Rice keeps rambling about his past and the rungood+amount of hours he have done 5-6-7 years ago. Not sure why he keeps going on with that stuff combined with not sharing how things are going recently pokerwise.

Is this some kind of "dreaming of the past" kind of thing when things arent working out in real life at the time?

The dude plays 1/3 for a living. He's not a professional poker player; he's an unemployed guy that plays poker all day instead of applying for jobs. And he's going to find this out pretty shortly I suspect when the money starts to run low.

In today's vlog, Rice reminisced about 2019 poker, so hopefully he'll get into this decade's poker sometime next month.

Agreed,+ i think winning money will just be harder for him. Casinos is lowering comps levels, they raise the rake almost every year, and playing his super nitty/scared of variance close to breakeven style simply will not be able to cut it.

Generosity of others. It's evolved over the years. Money, to gifts, to enough starbucks gift cards to sustain 75% of your meals, hourly comps, and superfans like LT and hardcore supporters from the far right wing grifting era around the 2020 elections will always keep him afloat.

With the amount of coffees he has on the strip, averaging $5-7/pour, if he was paying out of pocket, would cost nearly $600/mo conservatively.

Many vloggers would kill to have the type of supportive community that Trooper has fostered over the years.

I suspect he will just continue cutting his monthly budget to the bone. Hes already been trending in that direction. His monthly expenses coming in at under $1000

He is already adept at getting free laundry service. He has demonstrated that he can live off $2 a day for food. Accommodation he will continue to stay in the cheapest Airbnb share housing he can find plus use his comps for free hotels on the strip during off-peak nights.

To cut his costs even further he has already demonstrated a penchant for spending several nights without any accommodation at all. Either by sleeping in his car or by just loitering around various poker rooms and airports all night (on nights when he can't get a cheap or free room)

Basically he will become more and more like a homeless person living as cheaply as is humanly possible. All the while content that he is beating the system and infinitely smarter than other people who have a normal job to earn money and live comfortably.

I mean, you may be correct. He is already basically living like a homeless person, and i guess if he gets pushed into a corner with no other options he would be cutting expences even more down to the bone like you suggests.

Of course, you can heavily weigh in the fact that you get a hard on from playing WSOP events if you want.
I find most of the people who talk about structures are nits who get off on having a huge starting stack because they think it gives them “a lot of play” when in fact they have no edge on the field and thus actually would be helped by a faster structure.

I dont get a “hard on” for WSOP events but Im lucky to not be in Vegas and have to convince myself that a day at the Orleans is in the cards because “omg sick structure for a $275.” Ill play the Wynn or Aria events but the reality is most players want a lottery ticket for a big score- call that unserious if you want.

I played the $5k plo/nh mix on 5/31 and was happy to sit down and find out levels were just 30 min - made it more fun to play. My guess is that the 20k people who played the Mystery Millions that weekend similarly didn’t know or care it was 30 min levels until they sat down.

I think he should hit the grocery stores on weekends and eat all the free samples while pretending to shop for rotten bananas. This would save him on his weekend food cost.

Yeah, plus i would guess he is the type of person to be capable of going a complete day without eating in order to save money. If the situation requires it.

He seems to be having a horrible year. 6 months in and negative. I wonder if he keeps his own records or relies on the record keeper here. I would be interested in a vlog with him addressing how he is handling having such a bad year. I'm sure he is making little bits here and there with the lollypops and trooperware. Like others have said, he gets donations for starbucks, and some money from Youtube. Maybe there is more there than we know, but if not, his finances must be very tight with the poker year going so badly.
When I first watched his videos many many years ago, I saw some excitement in the potential lifestyle, nowadays it just seems ho-hum.

EDIT: did he just win 55K?

You're a completely moron if you think Tim had any chance of winning 55k.
