Advice for Pman:

1: Dont use pio if youre playing 1-2 live, its so far above your level of understanding of poker at this point itll do nothing but cloud and muddy your thought process. Even at like 5-10 its ridiculous. If you want to get better at poker, at this point since you play 1-2 id say get upswing or run it once and go through the basic videos even if you think its remedial for you. You should be able to beat 1-2 for 20-30 an hour in your sleep literally not paying attention to anything, its really that soft in vegas with just that. When you are playing like 2-5 and thinking of moving up then get a coach. Also play online to get better, very hard to improve playing just 1-2 live

2: You are the sum of your 5 best friends especially in poker. Its cool to hang with people like the bike king but they cant be your main poker friends, i have plenty of friends that are bike kings, and we hang and do things that arent talking poker. The problem with bike kings is that 5 years ago they were playing 1-2 and in 5 years theyll be doing the same exact thing. I stuck around my bike king friends for way too long myself, out of loyalty or comfort or whatever, and guess what, they are all still being bike kings today just like they were 5 years ago. It wasnt until i upgraded my poker group that i started to move up from the 1-2 2-5 50nl online type of stakes. I personally know very good poker players that live in your building, go to the gym or meet them somehow and become their friends or pay people for coaching which i cant recommend enough.

If youre happy just chilling living life, then more power to you

I think it is good to have a basic understanding of GTO, but I do agree that at the low - mid stakes it is not as important. I'm going to start playing online once I make a deposit on WSOP.

As for your #2, I agree with the statement about your 5 friends thing. I am always looking to meet new people who know more than me and are willing to talk poker. I don't want to talk about bike king; he's a good dude and a buddy of mine. We haven't talked much poker, but I have no reason to dislike or make a dig at him.

Please don't follow this advice. (Unless poker has gotten waaaay softer over the last ten years or so).

Last I checked all the fish mostly went broke/quit, player pool has only gotten better and the rake has only gone up at this $1/$2 levels.

6 card PLO, JFC, as is if 5 card wasn’t enough gamble there’s 6 card. For anyone that’s disciplined enough to put in the effort to study this game and put in the volume to cover the huge variance there has to be a ton of value playing this game. It has to attract the biggest degens/ never folding action junkies in the world.

Also somewhat Lol at putting this up here where most of the talk is around poker played by Trooper. Your basically teaching linear algebra while Troop is at the dining table teaching addition to his five year old.
