Aaargh, nice call on Steven Wright. I know he has as mixed a response as anyone (one of my friends HATES one-liner artists), but there is probably no comic I quote more than him. Well, Wright and Carlin. That's another one I should have included.

Also, a June 2010 join date and an April 2012 first post. I've seen that kind of thing before, and I admire your restraint.

They did both start off as stand ups.

I'm not sure when this was filmed, but Fallon was doing this routine pre-SNL. He does impersonations of 7 or 8 of other comics that have been nominated here. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-Lsjtmq69Zs

Here's a classic clip of Letterman when he was just a stand up. They show some of his jokes about half way through. All I can say is that comedy has gotten a lot better since then, but we can't beat their hairstyles or fashion today. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7H7x90H37iU

In a last ditch effort to support some of my guys that may be on the bubble I thought I'd post some clips.

Bob Sagat - One of the filthiest guys around. Couldn't be more different from his Full House/Funniest Videos persona.

Jim Jefferies - Hilarious Australian comic who my Australian friends claim to have never heard of.

Zach Galifianakis - Was killing in the clubs for years before he became a big shot movie star.

Anthony Jeselnik - Dark, really dark, tight jokes.

Dave Attel - Half the comics out there today are just copying him.

Ron White - Great storyteller, has better appeal to a wider audience than the other redneck comedians.

Speaking of CK, here's one of the funniest appearances by a comedian on a talk show imo

Now I try to listen to the show and get interrupted by hillarious youtube videos.

Show duration just increased 5000%.

Here's Norm being hilarious on Conan...and he wasn't even being interviewed.

Eh, Im assuming none of you guys know Wil Anderson. Mostly bc he's an Aussie but I'll throw him in there anyways. He's def the stand up comedian who makes me laugh the most, but again, it's pretty Australian.

We have about 3 days left of nominations. If you haven't put yours in and would like to ensure someone makes the voting rounds, get going.

This is a quality thread, I am so glad we are doing this, I have already found some new gems that I'm really pleased about. There are a lot of people that have been nominated that I agree with but won't repeat because I think they will make it as is.
The exception is Richard Pryor, who I just have to mention because I think that you have to watch 'Live in Concert', which is his definitive and best show in my opinion. http://v.youku.com/v_show/id_XMTE2NDQ3NDI0.html

Stewart Lee may be my favourite, and absolutely has to be in the competition. Definitely my favourite British comedian. This bit seems appropriate as he is talking about other comedians https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0YE9Kthyaco

Dylan Moran is my favourite Irish stand up, very clever, again has to be included: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lpkiIaFv5As

David Cross has been mentioned elsewhere but may need a few more nominations. Brilliant. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=97Cu...eature=related

Ross Noble is very original and remarkably consistent for his style of comedy https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jtVG0BxsJpk

I saw Kevin Nealon live last December, he probably deserves a mention.

Loved Ari Shaffir at the MGM last WSOP, made me cry laughing. May have had something to do with the beer cup full of wine I got from the bartender. I had overheard him saying "they give me a cup, I fill it" before I switched into his line.

Bob Saget certainly should be included IMO.
