**2+2 Stand Up Comedian Madness Official Nomination Thread** **2+2 Stand Up Comedian Madness Official Nomination Thread**

Hey all,

With March Madness finished, it's time to pick up where we left off with 2+2 Pokercast Madness. Next up, Stand-up comedians. Who is 2+2's all time favorite stand-up comedian.

In this thread we will accept nominations. The top 28 nominations will automatically get invites to the 32 person field. 29-36 will have to earn one of 4 spots in the 'play-in round'. Comics will be then be seeded and placed in 8 voting groups of 4, with the top 2 vote getters advances to the Sweet 16 when the heads-up battles will begin.

Nomination Criteria.

1) No Groups/Duos - Individuals Only (cheech & chong, smothers brothers, Monty Python etc.)
2) Should be able to find at least one youtube clip online of the comic so that people who have not heard any material before can vote
3) Must have been active at some point in the past 32 years (done a set since 1980). i.e. Lenny Bruce is not eligible(died in 1966), but Don Rickles who was born the same year would be eligible.
4) Up to maximum 10 nominations per poster. Only your first 10 names will be considered as nominations. If you nominate 5 in your first post, you can nominate 5 more in a second post. Please don't make 10 different posts with one comic in each post. Common sense for ease of counting up nominations.
5) If you want someone else to nominate someone you REALLY want to see get into the final 32, add a youtube clip and you might get some support. This is acceptable

Nomations will stay up through Sunday, April 15th. Play-in round will commence on April 18th.

Gogogogo!

This should be fun! I feel like I'm under-exposed to the world of stand-up comedy, but as Mike pointed out in the other thread, this is a competition where it will be easy for us to look up clips of comedians who others nominated!

Here's my ten:
George Carlin
Steve Martin
Robin Williams
Andy Kaufman
Eddie Murphy
Louis C.K.
Chris Rock
Jerry Seinfeld
Bill Maher
Lewis Black

Also, did Rodney Dangerfield's standup career extend into the 80s? If so, move him to the top of my list and remove Lewis Black.

Was thinking about this possibility as a contest yesterday as I was listening to this week's HS show re-runs '20 years later'. Weird coincidence.

It's just a shame Jerry Sadowitz removes any footage of himself that gets uploaded to youtube as he would be a great shout.A comedy genius and a top magician too.

From his wiki:
In 1991 at the Just For Laughs Comedy Festival in Montreal he was knocked unconscious by an irate audience member during a performance which mocked French Canadians, starting with the greeting "Hello moose****ers! I tell you why I hate Canada, half of you speak French, and the other half let them."

GREAT category. Now that I know how the nominations work, I don't mind that my list repeats many already mentioned. In no particular order (except for how I see them in my iTunes library):

1. George Carlin
2. Louis C.K.
3. Chris Rock
4. Dana Carvey
5. Bill Cosby
6. Bill Hicks
7. Richard Pryor
8. Dennis Miller
9. Lewis Black
10. Ricky Gervais

Wow, the tonnage of great comics who I had to leave out. I know I'll regret this list (e.g. how do I not squeeze Aziz Ansari in there?

There are a few who rank among my personal favorites -- I've seen Jake Johansen and Larry Miller live several times -- but they're probably not well-known enough to make a dent in this contest, so why bother?

Finally, I am very proud that we've gone 20-plus posts and no one has submitted Dane Cook. You all are very, very good people.

I would like to cast my vote for the following people:

Nick Swardson- 2 comedy central specials on his stand up and he's in alot of Adam Sandler movies now and the roller blading gay prostitute in reno 911 were people may have seen him as well.

Russell Peters- really what Canadian cant list Russell on this list as a good guy from Brampton

Lisa Lampinelli- confrontational style and gets alot of attention now for her work on most comedy central roasts.

Chris Rock- We'll putt rims on anything....raisen toast on 22's!

Eddie Murphy- prior to selling his soul to Disney he was actually funny if anyone still remembers

Richard Pryor (not sure if the legend meets time requirements)

Dave Chappelle- here's hoping he returns to the fore front of comedy again the future

Katt Williams- alot of bad press lately but his stand up is funny and alot of high energy performances

Carlos Mencia- His stuff is funny, i know some people like Joe Rogan think he steals material but most of his stuff is pretty funny either way

Bernie Mac- Glad to see others post his name and hes great RIP and needs to make the voting rounds

Sorry, there is no thinking. He has stolen material on multiple occasions(Bill Cosby, Bobby Lee, Aziz Ansari, and more) and this has been spoken upon by many comics. Great performer, but he only performs other peoples material.

Dane Cook may not be my favorite comic, but he performs his own material, plays the crowd very well, and really is a great guy. It really disappoints me when people will hate an individual when a comic's material is not something they prefer.
