research costs money. people fund it for a reason. results get published for a reason. data is presented in the best way possible to serve the presenters agenda. ie if its the dairy corp they arent going to let you know about better substitues, if its a news station theyre going to do whatever it takes to grab someones attention. the same study can be presented in 5 different ways, leaving the reader with 5 different impressions, while the data in all 5 reports are 100% accurate

no, i just can't be bothered to go find you guys links. i've gotten to a point where i feel i'm wasting too much time explaining stuff to people, finding dozens of links to support my arguments, etc (this is not the only forum i've been active in) and after taking stock i realized it's just not working for me, i get nothing positive in return. like honestly, this is pretty much exactly my view but I couldn't even be bothered posting that:

i'm done making long-winded posts, there's already countless hours i'm going to regret spending doing that when i'm on my death bed i don't wish to keep adding too many more

A study in 2005, published in the Journal of the American Medical Association, found that one-third of all medical studies turn out to be wrong.

Another study this year revealed that conflicts of interest often taint medical studies. The research, detailed in the June 15 issue of the journal Cancer, found that 29 percent of cancer research published in high-profile journals had disclosed a conflict of interest. Those conflicts, moreover, seem to affect how studies were conducted. Research that had industry funding, for example, focused on treatment 62 percent of the time, while studies not funded by industry focused on treatment only 36 percent of the time.
fun stuff. but hey, it's not like cancer is important or anything

So if you don't believe research results then why do you believe the report that milk causes osteoporosis. I was curious about it because I come from a country with probably the highest milk use in the world. The Netherlands is mentioned in the report as having high osteoporosis but then it references a Dutch research paper only about women post menopause.

You would think if milk can cause this it would also affect men and it should be pretty obvious in the Netherlands. But I can find no such reports.

Not saying the claim is not true but as far as I can tell it is just as likely an attack from the soya bean industry on the milk industry.

I feel like if you just keep a balanced diet you can't go wrong. Too much of anything is not gonna be good for you. If you are downing 18 gallons of milk/day then yea, you are probably gonna have adverse effects (affects? Can never figure those two out) from it, but if you are only drinking a glass or 2 per day I can't possibly see how it could harm you considering drinking 2 beers/day every day has been proven not to do any long term damage to your system (Yea, I learned this in the class I had to take when I got my DWI, lol).

Research, unfortunately, can be heavily influenced by lobbying and bribery. Research in Medical fields is especially subject to these downfalls.

That said, research is incredibly useful and money should be thrown at it. It's up to the institutes and people governing the research to keep everything ethical.

Paging Disco for hooker stories.

Excessive Calcium Causes Osteoporosis

a certain Phd immunologist and MD rheumatologist (ahhhh, rheum and osteoporosis specialist..as well as most auto-immune diseases ) I know laughed at this article and said "bad science".

For those interested, 1600g of Ca would be fine for most daily....may not be grams...I've had three too many alcoholic drinks. Rheum doc, has had four...so lookin' like a great night to be King! .

btw, most research of this type is funded by NIH....not the drug companies......
