This is obv true but I think that people don't often take this far enough and they miss out on a lot of the subtle nuances that give people's hands away.

ie. they know it when a fish sighs and then cr's them but they miss a lot of very tiny things that are actually quite similar.

i think thats true and all but i have noticed when a fish goes allin and im taking time to think about my decision that they will stare me right in the eyes the whole time with the nuts

^^ there's definitely a lot of truth to that. I think that people are generally non-confrontational, especially when they are doing something "wrong" (ex bluffing), so when they are looking you in the eyes after a bet, it's more likely that they have nothing to hide and are telling you the truth, so to speak.

What you're really looking for though, are differences in their stare-down, mannerisms, eyes, posture etc in the current hand, compared to how they've acted previously. I don't think I call down (or fold) too often just because of a singular action like a stare down, nose scratch or bad posture or something. I kind of think that stuff is just glamorized hollywood BS mostly.

I have, however, made calls because of something like 'Player X's shoulders look a little weird right now. Normally he has typical poker table posture but now his shoulders are a little more square and level

He made a few other call downs where he just stationed other guys who had the nuts I think he just doesn't like to fold too much (for example he called a 3b with AQ ch/c A-high flop turn goes ch/ch river he bets gets raised huge and calls board ran out A983T). He never really folded online either I'm pretty sure he didn't see the cards and idk I'm sure I have some tells being as I still haven't played that much live but I'm pretty sure I don't give anything obvious away he's just kinda a station.

I mean online the guy was playing like 2000+ hands per hour and folded to 3bets versus steals like 50%. Now can you imagine what he folds if he is playing 25 hands an hour!!! LOL. I know you didn't know it was Karam, but 3betting small suited connectors versus Karam must be -EV.

when i first started playing live i would do **** like this. i was thinking oh i have a set, ill watch the tv so the 3 people ahead of me think i dont have anything and will call lighter.

only problem is i would also watch tv when i really didnt have anything cuz i was bored and watching sportscenter for 4th time with no sound was better than watching farmer john hem and haw and hollywood it up for no ****ing reason before folding 46 on AJ8

lol i was gonna say that i find i end up watching tv after river actions and stuff a bunch when the person is tanking, just so i don't fall asleep at the tables otherwise

Actually I've really been enjoying it. Last week Vanessa Selbst outlevelled herself with nofoldem poker all-in pre-flop J7<AA. This week Hellmuth 3-street bluffs a calling station. I find the table banter entertaining. Oh and Phil Laak is sooo lucky.

I'm not really criticising. It would have been the right play against the loose cannons from previous weeks who have been very nitty and playing scared money. I watch more for entertainment value rather than being too critical about play. It's easy to think a play is good/bad when I can see the cards. I think the producers make for interesting play by the players they select and the seating they arrange them in.

This has been my experience playing lower stakes.

Gold breaks $US 1600 for first time. Sounds good at first but I was there in the '70s when Gold broke $US 800 for the first time. Long term that is not a good return = doubling in ~30 years = worse than inflation rate.

I am 53. I started working on computers with punched cards and the "house" had to be air-conditioned or water-cooled or it overheated! I first bought gold shares at 14 (1972) and wrote my first program on paper (in FORTRAN) at 16 and first saw a real computer at 17. I worked in IT for 25 years. I can't remember and I haven't checked facts but I think I rode gold from $100 to $800+ back in the day...so it's hard to get excited about $1600 this late in the day.

silver > gold

I don't know diddly squat these days but silver used to be too easily manipulated by insider trading.
