As a Veteran of a special operations unit, who has been wounded in action, and served in both theaters, I would like to make a comment.

It is my very humble opinion that the majority of people in the US are clueless to the realities of what our government does/has done. Our media lies to us constantly. When I was deployed it wouldn't be uncommon for there to be multiple lies fed to the media, everyday.

The idea of thanking a veteran for your freedoms is nice, but it is largely perpetrated by the government, as "support the troops, support the policy", which of course are not the same.

If you really want to thank a veteran, do something that could actually bring them home. (I know there really isn't much you can do, as the policy is decided by the wealthy and powerful, and since we are posting on the small FR NL threads on 2+2 that likely means none of us fit that mold.) But you can support any and all politicians who are willing to end our relentless pillage of the earth, and bring our guys home. For example, did you know that Ron Paul is the candidate most commonly supported by active duty military members?

The feeling of gratitude is nice, but it doesn't hold a candle to the feeling of snuggling up to YOUR wife, in YOUR bed, in YOUR home.

It is my humble opinion that if you want to remember veterans who have fought for our freedoms, remember that most of them want to come home.

I hope that someday there will be a middle road in American politics between "mainstream" cynicism and the lunatic libertarian fringe. I also hope the Christian right will go to heaven and leave the rest of us alone. Also in b4 thread is trapped in politard vortex for several pages. Also also in b4 the sports fans start complaining about thread being "boring" and having to look up words.

^ Main bit of "news" from that thread is that the deal with the European investors is practically done, and that the insider would be "amazed" if FT wasnt back up by the end of the week.

looked like guy was here to help, (unlike this deuc3s moron)... didn't bring too much new info though

He seemed legit to me, partly because he didnt make any extraordinary claims, and partly because he seemed just as cynical and disillusioned with the current regime as you would expect. Why would anyone pretend to be an FTP employee and give people answers that sound so plausible that you almost dont care? And he is clearly not a shill, for blatantly obvious reasons pointed out in the thread.

Of course that doesnt stop the flood of massive, massive tards making claims to the contrary. In fact, looking around the forums of this, the biggest poker forum on the planet, makes me feel very good about the long term profitability of the games.

I live in Orlando, apparently the area around the Orange county courthouse is a little crazy atm. 'Justice for Caylee' rallyers have been amassing slowly. Really shocked myself by the verdict, I watched all of the closing arguments and rebuttal, was expecting a 2nd degree murder conviction or at LEAST aggravated child abuse.
07-05-2011 , 04:11 PM
didnt follow the trial. What did the defense say on how the child died then?

They say she died by accident by opening a sliding door and then falling in the parent's pool. They claim they then tried to cover up the crime and things got out of control and "snowballed" from there.

I too am shocked she got off!

ya cause obviously when ur child drowns in the pool by nobody's fault, you cover it up and make it look like a murder. obviously take the drowned child and put duct tape over their nose and mouth, then keep the body in a car trunk for a while, then toss it into the woods 20 ft off the rod in a bag. then go spend a month partying and getting tattoos and entering hot body contests without telling anyone your child is dead, sounds like there's no foul play here whatsoever.

omg wtf. so she claims her parents helped her cover it up? what did her parents have to say?
