The prize we won was a new Tiliest 909d with a matrix shaft...very very nice! I shot an 84 and prob left 6 good putts on the lip as they where firm and fast. Everyone in a position to sponsor an event like this really should as these young men need the support to keep the purses up this event had a $35K in prize money for the pro's.
Hey I played in that event as well.
We finished T3rd and won some nice golf shoes. I don't know how we finished T3, as everyone played like **** in our group. The two pros shot 78 and 80, and I shot 86 (10.5 cap). The other am shot around 92 (14 cap). I guess it just worked out that every time I was making triples, my teammates were getting pars. And I parred (net-birdie) most of the tough holes.

I had fun even though the round took 6 hours

Yes it was long and that delayed start tilted me....we started on 9b I was wearing a Blue golf shirt and my buddy and I where drinking a **** load of beers and doing tequila shots on the par 3 that everyone had to wait for when it was so cold, windy and dark. We had to drive back to Van that night and dint get in to town till almost 1am. If you saw that nice young thing wandering around with the big tits in the yellow tank top she was 1 of 5 my buddys played with the night before....they tried and tried to have us stay Monday night and party

Set a new record today

Spoiler:
Played thru seven groups in one very frustrating round of golf.

Was playing by myself ldo,

2 groups took issue with me playing through, both times after watching their tee shots i said "can i play through now"?
(They happened to hit into trouble on both occasions)

End score was +10, everything a par or bogey.

Really need to work on my pitching from 30-60yds, im chunking it too much

Ever just go out and feel like u left a dozen shots out there?

Shot a 88 today. Opened with two doubles after two horrible breaks on both tee shots. #1. Not a great tee shot but did it have to settle behind a tree with literally no realistic layup options? I never seen that before in my life. #2. Hit a nice drive and just couldn't find it. Tracked it perfectly seen it land roll and it just vanished. Got up there and couldn't find it! It was the damndest thing ever.

Irons were locked on as well as they have been in weeks (8 GIR) and I just burned edges all day long with my putter. Didn't even feel like I was putting bad. Just one of those things where the reads were off a hair and just couldn't get the luck of the roll. Literally counted 10 shots that I feel like I either let slip through my fingers or just got boned by the golf gods. I'm a 17 and this isn't a horrible score for me but I feel it shoulda been a 80-82 at the worst.

I got the chance to play with a guy trying to make it into smaller tour events, etc. on Monday, he estimated he was +4/+5 or so, and it was unbelievable to watch him play. I've played with a scratch golfer and several single digit guys before, and it was just such a different experience. We played 27 holes and he had the most consistent long game I can imagine, routinely hitting 3 wood almost 300 yards in the fairway and driver well further with slightly more variance. Got up and down from everywhere, nearly automatic putting within 10 feet. I'm sure my memory is causing me to exaggerate but it was really cool and impressive to see how good someone can play up close like that.

We played back tees with slope 139 and I shot a very happy 45 / 54 / 46 = 145.

lol thats fine and to be honest i probably came across like a dick at the time.

Had they crushed their shots down the fairway i wouldve said "good shot" and either stayed behind them or waited for a better opportunity.

Seeing as i caught them up on the tee and i wouldve been right behind them again in 2 holes time anyway, as they hit into trouble i saw no point in waiting even longer so i re-asked to go through. .

Although i really dont know why they said no in the first place, if theres ever a 1 ball behind me (who isnt terrible) I'm more than happy to let him through, they can get on with their round, and you're not rushing your own.

I walked onto a course last year as a single and got paired up with a local mini-tour player, he was the definitely the best player I have ever played with. It was probably one of the best learning experiences I have ever had. Watching him effortlessly power through the golf ball and show amazing touch around the greens was a lesson in itself.

I don't ever post here and occasionally lurk but today I managed to pull this

47-36

with my first hole in one on 14. Actually it was my first eagle (I had one before but I had given myself a free drop)

And I feel like I need to tell everyone.

Since I can't brag about my game I guess I can brag about the courses I played over the last two weeks rolling around the rockies with my Dad.

Antelope Hills, Dubois WY
Rendezvous Meadows, Pinedale WY
Teton Reserve, Victor ID
Targhee Hills, Alta WY
Star Valley, Afton WY
Valley View, Afton WY
Haymaker, Steamboat Springs CO
Steamboat Golf Club, SS CO

Scenery is unbelievable at these places. Courses were in fairly good shape, considering they have a 4-5 month golf season, and some were in places where turf grass doesn't naturally exist.

Also, with the 6000+ ft. elevation, I can finally drive the ball over 250 yds. Big deal considering i only started playing late last year and sit somewhere in the 100-110 range.

Played 27 at Bayou Barriere today. I was feeling super-confident; the last tee shot I'd hit last week was the best drive of my life, so surely I would have my driver going today, right? I wanted to warm at the range, but it was closed. Okay, no big deal. Chip and putt to warm up. Take out the driver on the #1 tee, ground ball. Proceed to make a complete mess of the front nine, stubbornly hitting my driver again and again. I think maybe one drive got more than a foot off the ground. After 8 holes, I decide to put the driver away. 8-iron in the fairway, another 8-iron, pitching wedge from 110 yards stops ten feet left of the cup. Par putt lips out, two-inch tap-in for bogey. The first eight holes were completely awful. Probably my worst putting ever.

After the bogey, I'm feeling better. Double bogey the first hole of the back nine, then hit a 9-iron over the green on the 2nd hole, chip on, two-putt bogey. Then I make a total mess of the next hole. The 4th is another par 3. I had hit an 8-iron last week and come up just short, landing in the bunker to the left/short of the green. So I hit 7-iron today. It looks good, but then lands in the back of the bunker. I skull a sand wedge, but the ball hits the grassy lip, pops up, and rolls to about 9 feet from the hole. I save par. Uneventful next few holes, then get to #7. It's a 264-yard par 4, so it should be a piece of cake, right? (Unfortunately, the last time I played I put the ball into the pond just in front of the tee, then took a drop, then hit it in the water again, etc.) I hit 8-iron off the tee, right down the middle. 110 yards out. I hit a slightly low, hooking pitching wedge, but it's good enough to reach the elevated green and ends up about 20 feet away. I've had a few birdie putts in my life, but none this close. I hit it on a good line, but it's about 3 feet short. I make par. First time I've ever had more than one par in a round! And also my first par on a par-4! Two-putt bogey on #9 to give me a 58 on the back. One of a small number of times I've broken 60 for nine holes. I actually shot 58 on the same nine a few months ago, but that was from the front tees, about 200 yards shorter. Would've been a much better round had it not been for two disaster holes.

So after a good back nine, I wanted a crack at the front again. No disaster holes, but nothing great either. Kept the driver in the bag and hit lots of fairways with my irons, but the lack of distance didn't help.

I really need to work on my short game. First nine holes I felt great on 30-50 yard pitch shots with my 60* wedge, but my chipping was terrible throughout. Worked on a little bit after my round. Every time I try to think of chipping tips I've read or heard about, I screw up. So I'm just gonna figure it out my way for now, and hopefully take a lesson focused only on my short game when I get the chance.

Looks like I've come a long way. Played the round of my life (so far) today at Wyndance. Beat my playing partner for the first time, who I thought I'd never beat. He's currently about a 7-8 cap (has been as low as 1-2 before) and I'm about an 18 (started the year about a 36).

Shot 87 from the golds (132/7057 yards/73.7), but most of the tees were back anyways to the blacks (almost 7600). No birdies, but no meltdowns either. Only 1 double, when I'm usually good for a handful.

Anyways I've been on a tear this last few weeks and hope I can break 85 before the season's done. Seems I actually play better from further back tees, even though that doesn't seem to make much sense.

39-40-79. 2 birdies, 1 double. 6/13 fairways, 8/18 greens, 28 putts.

Hit a couple awful tee balls early that turned into very good bogeys (and were nearly epic pars). Good short game day other than from the sand where I was only 1 of 3 in hitting the green (and the one time I hit the green I three putted rrrrr).

38-43-81. 1 birdie, 2 doubles. At least that's what the card said. I didn't keep it and I'm somewhat less than 100% sure it's right, seeing as I missed every putt I looked at.

The whole day can be summed up by the last hole. We played the back nine first so the last hole of the day is the 9th hole. I've posted MS paints of the hole before. Playing 530 or so into the wind. I striped a drive into the right side of the fairway, leaving 245 in. Hit a rocket with the 4 wood - a low, driving fade that's just PERFECT, right toward the 20 foot wide opening in front of the green ... except no, NO, DAMMIT not the one foot too far right into the %$^&* bunker!!

I turned away in disgust. Somehow, it either hit a rake or caught the lip perfectly. The ball ended up on the green, 4 feet from the hole.

The putt was in the center of the hole the whole way. It didn't drop. Power lip out. Tapped in for birdie, our team lost by a shot.

Stupid game. Stupid ****ing game.

Thru 2 rounds of my tournament: 79-81. Happy on one hand, annoyed on the other. I hit it well enough to be like 72-72. Also, my poor brother in law who won this thing at like -12 over 3 days about 6 or 7 years ago, has shot 78-84.

TLDR:

Day1:
#10- perfect drive, good 3 iron 50 feet short. terrible putt left 20 feet short. make it for par.

11- perfect 6 iron pin high about 40 feet left. putt it to 1.5 feet, yip 1.5 footer bogey.

12- Great drive, nice 3 iron on 475 yard par 4 short. Chip to 4 feet, burn edge. bogey.

13- Perfect 5 wood on short par 4. Gap wedge hit perfect comes up 40 feet short. Lag it to 4 feet. make. par.

14: Perfect drive. 9 iron hung out right. putt it 4 feet short. Burn edge. Bogey.

15: Hook drive into tree. Pitch out 50 yards short. Duff/yip it short of green. Blade it over. Hack it to 6 feet. Burn edge. Awesome triple bogey 7.

16: Nice 7 iron comes up 20 feet short. Putt terrible off the heel. Switch back to normal grip.

17: Perfect drive/Perfect p wedge comes up short in the fringe. Putt it past 5 feet. Burn edge bogey.

18: Drive right on par 5. Layup perfectly to 110. Pwedge SHORT despite being hit perfect. Try to putt it out of thick rough, lol, it works, tap in par for a nice little 42, shoot me.

1: Drive long but to the right on short par 5. Nice 3 wood goes up on hill left a little short of green. Great chip (for me) to like 8 feet. Putt should've gone in, easy par.

2: Baby par 4 about 300. Hook drive into tree. Ball on dirt stupid lie, i hit a terrible ground ball to the fringe. Almost hole out putt, tap in par.

3: Drive right down the middle crushed. Gap wedge just right of pin to 15 feet. Almost make it tap in par.

4: Drive right down the middle crushed. Great 6 iron into the wind comes up a little short like 30 feet. Putt to a foot tap in par.

5: Perfect drive crushed. Great looking pwedge from 123 comes up SHORT, lag it to 4 feet, burn edge bogey.

6: Great 6 iron on par 3 ends up rolling into collar/rough about 20 feet away from pin. Try to putt it, fail. 20 foot breaker off a ridge. Drain it for par.

7: Anti left swing with driver on short par 4 into trees. Punch it out to just short. Hit chip way too hard onto fringe, almost make putt, bogey.

8: Great 7 iron from 155 finally goes the right distance. Hole a 15 footer for birdie.

9: Hook drive to left. Have 155 uphill. Hit a 7 iron that suddenly goes long. I can see my ball so I just ask my caddie (wife lol) for a putter no matter what and it is at least 5 yards of pure rough. Whatever. Putt out of rough goes too hard down fringe. Almost make 20 footer from fringe, tap in bogey. 37/79.

Day 2:

#10 Scary tee shot thought went OB on right. Hooked **** out of provisional. Found first one almost in the fairway, hit a perfect 8 iron from 140, ends up short in thick rough. Overcook putt from rough goes 25 feet by. Drain downhill slider for par.

#11 Perfect 6 iron on 8 iron hole goes 40 yards over green. Tough chip under trees and short of water ends up 25 feet short, easy 2 putt bogey.

#12 Perfect smash drive, terrible hook 8 iron into an awful lie. Could only see dime sized part of ball in rough. Just take a wild hack at it and it comes out nice to 4 feet and drain putt easily for par.

#13 Tough tee shot but reachable par 5. Hit perfect drive to 210. Hit 5 wood perfect, but hooks just a little into greenside bunker. Hit a nice shot that spun too much and had a 25 footer that i easily 2 putted for par.

#14 Smash drive on short par 4. Pitch from 50 yards to 12 feet. Barely miss putt on highside, par.

#15 Perfect drive, perfect 9 iron ends up short as usual on the fringe. Too much mustard on putt goes 12 feet by. Burn edge. Bogey.

#16 Tough 465 yard par 4. Hit a nice drive down the right side. 3 iron hits about 40 yards short of the green and ends up 50 feet away on the back of green. Hit putt to 4 feet , perfect putt, par.

#17 Tough par 3. 4 iron short in rough, chip it too hard to 10 feet, burn edge. Bogey.

#18 Hook drive under tree. Hit a nice 3 iron punch that gets up pin high on a hill. Chip it to 2 feet and tap in for par.

#1 Par 5 that is pretty tough driver. Hit 3 perfect shots and my pwedge from 110 somehow ends up 45 short of hole. Putt it to 4 feet and miss 4 footer. Bogey 3 putt.

#2 Drive hooked left into trees. Tried to go inbetween narrow opening and cut it, double crossed hooked to left, hit a tree and kicked left. Had no chance, tried to chip a 7 iron into a bank (over hazard) and it hits into bank with steam and goes over into bunker. Sand shot bad, but spins and I have a 25 footer for bogey. Center cut. Bogey.

#3: 9 iron par 3 with crazy slope on green. Hit an okay one that over drew onto left fringe about 20 feet away. Putt doesn't break and I have a straight downhiller for par and it does literally a literally a 360 lipout. Bogey.

#4: 492 par 5. Smash drive right own the middle to 205. Hit a high perfect 4 iron that misses a 30 foot eagle try by a foot and goes into bunker. Okay bunker shot to 20 feet, putt left on edge like I've never seen before. Absolutely no grass inbetween ball and hole, tap in par.

#5: One of the hardest holes on the course. 475 yards. Nice drive to left rough. 3 iron hit perfectly onto front of the green, ran putt 4 feet by, made it dead center for par.

#6: Terrible 8 iron hooked left of green on short par 3. Tough chip had hazard on other side of hole and i hacked it out of bad lie to fringe, almost made putt tap in bogey.

#7: Nice 5 wood for position leaving a 9 iron from 130 or so. Hit it well, but ends up short. Chip was so bad we had a discussion on whether i double hit it. I don't think i did so I end up almost holing putt from fringe and tapping in for bogey.

#8: Nice 5 wood for position leaving crazy shot up a 3 club hill. 5 iron from 145 smashed and it still ends up 30 feet short of hole. Decent putt up huge hill to like 3 feet. Terrible putt doesn't touch hole. 3 putt bogey.

#9 terrible hook drive in wrong fairway but lots of tree trouble. Decent recovery to right of green. Duff chip 5 yards to fringe, putt it to 2 feet tap in bogey for a 43/81.

I'm getting ready for a Labor Day tournament, but I played at NCR South Yesterday (site of 2005 Senior US Open). Played very well and shot 76 41-35.

It's really insane how big a difference courses can make. My group went 72-73-76-76 and I'm very confident that if the four of us played at my home course, our group probably would be about five to seven under cumulative.

Amazing course, I'll write more later. Wish me luck!
