90, 87 this weekend.
I'd like to take back the back-9 of that 87 if I could; 41 front, 46 back. Brutal.

Rookiebrag: Shot my best ever round this weekend, 89 on a par 72 course. Along with this I made my season goal of going below 18 handicap, 17.8 now.

I started the year at 36+, never having had an official handicap but have played maybe 10-15 rounds through my life before this year. My goal for next season is below 12 handicap, should I expect that to be harder or easier than going from 36+ to <18?

Much much harder than going from 36+ to <18. Practice the short game because those sand saves, longish birdie putts etc will count a lot more towards your handicap. I was a 15 handicap a few months ago and was really hoping to bring it down to 7 or 8 but its so much more harder. I am currently at 10.3

Is it so much harder that it is unreasonable or just requires a lot of practice but is clearly doable? My three year plan is 36+ to <18, then <18 to <12 and in my third year <12 to <10.

This year I've played approximately 50 rounds. I do not expect to get quite as many rounds in next year but at least 35.

Now I only practice 20-50 mins before playing a round. I never go to the course only for practice, do you think practice only sessions is needed to reach my goal for next season?

Practice more than you play. I was able to put in a lot of time into my game this summer. A typical week would involve 10-12 hours of practice range, 5-6 hours of putting/chipping and 4-5rounds. I would strongly encourage practice only sessions if you have the time. Also, do most of your 50 rounds happen at the same golf course? If so, try a few other courses(not necessarily tough) and see how your game shapes up.

When you go out to the course to play, makes notes(take a notebook) and and you will find the areas you need to improve. After you finish the round, see if you can work on them. So yeah, its all about having the time to work on every aspect of your game.

Thanks for the tips. I definitely want to practice more, it's just a question of having the time.

Out of the 50ish rounds this year about 35 was on the same course, seven more on another course and the rest spread out.

I was on vacation the past few days and heard about how nice the weather had gotten here in Louisiana, so I couldn't wait to get out and golf today. Really beautiful day, not many clouds, highs in the low 70s, just great. Played about as poorly as I usually do. Would've been better had I not blown up on all the par 5s and missed putts all over the place. Worst putting day I've had in a while. But it sure is a lot nicer to play on a day like this than in the heat I've put up with all summer.

Course I play has a great Twilight deal going, $20 for a cart, and unlimited golf after 1pm. Played all three nines they have today. 50, 45, 45. Might be the last I play this year, so I got as much in as I could.

Played terribly yesterday at Mill Run in Uxbridge, 47/48 = 95.
I hit a few unreal shots though; a 275 yard drive followed by a 285 yard drive on the next hole, a 160 yard shot to a par 3 that split the green and then rolled back to 3' from the pin, easy birdie.
With the way the weather looks for the next few weeks this was probably my last round of golf. Time to get an indoor range membership and start working on my game for next year.

Oh thank heavens for today's weather!

Shot 78 hitting only 4 GIR.

I was driving the ball pretty well, but my iron game was off off off. Missed all five par 3s and made bogey-bogey-par-par-par.

Back to cold weather by the weekend.

Thankfully I live in good old Phoenix, AZ where we can play golf year round!

Shot a 2 under par, 70 at Troon North last weekend...greens were perfect, fairways were a little beat up coming out of overseeding.

If any of you out there have any decent hook ups for golf let me know. I'm always looking for a game and I'm about a 3-5 handicap depending on how much booze I can get down.

Booze + Vicodin + Weed = 2 under par

QFT. Not often in October does it get warmer as the day goes on - it was 68 when I left the course at dark.

43-42-85 on Sunday.

37 (par 35) yesterday.

35 (par 35) today. Made two birdies in a row and then lipped out on the next hole, would have been the first trifecta of the season I think.

Any round could be the last of the season, although Sunday doesn't look bad.

Beat: I switched to some Pinnacle Platinum Feel balls I got for free for playing in an outing a couple weeks ago on #13 on Sunday. Made two birdies coming in, hit basically every fairway and almost every green the last 18 holes ... I may have to keep playing these. Maybe this is variance, but I usually associate playing Pinnacles with being a huge beat.

50-57-107 my best round ever, with my only other three full rounds being 122,122 and 118. I still suck but it feels like I am improving.

I might be a little full of myself, but I can't see how people that shoot 95+ consistently enjoy the game.....seems like it would be way too much life tilt

You hit one or two good shots a round and it keeps you hooked.

50 balls to warm up. Though I had worked out my issues but played like crap the first ten holes.

Suggestion: on the range before the round just hit a handful of soft, smooth iron shots. When you feel loosened up pull out the driver and as soon as you hit two good/solid shots in-a-row stop. Go to the putting green for the remainder of the time.

After stringing together a series of 5 rounds <100 I went out to a course with some teeth, Buffalo Run, in Colorado yesterday and shot 52-60 with the wheels just falling of on the back nine a the same time as a 2-3 club wind came up. Snowing hard today, terrible round to end the season.

Beautiful day and I smoked a Cuban so it was not a total loss...

40-43-83. The usual assortment of short game FAIL. Did have 2 birdies though.

Golf is scheduled for Monday, Tuesday and Thursday this week.

Attention northerners: let's get to squeezing those late season rounds in! C'mon now.

Bonds: spent today playing poker at Firekeepers in Battle Creek. Nice poker room, though it was tough driving past so many golf courses on the way there!

Awful front 9, I doubled 1, 2, and 3, I think that is probably the first time I have done that. Played reasonably okay after that. Finally made my first birdie at 12, which was a 449 yard par 4, which isnt usually reachable for me (I have a srs biz fade to my drives which takes quite a bit of distance off, especially since I am already a short hitter), but a 250 yard drive and a 200 yard 3w right into the middle of the green made me bust out a little dance. Good, fun day overall.

Didn't lose a ball though, sick brag!
