if so, he brought it on himself. often in life, you reap what you sow

for example, you don't see Harry Higgs taking such arrows do you?

Well, at least Brandel is an equal opportunity cheat accuser.

No other golfer evokes such a mixture of praise and criticism as Woods, the main attraction of any sport for nearly 20 years. Chamblee's column struck a nerve with many, however, because of the implication that three rules violations and a penalty drop involving Woods amounted to cheating -- the strongest accusation possible in golf.

Good golfers aren't results-oriented, they just trust their process.

Spoiler:
Or they shut up and do what their wife tells them

7 more players announcing for Boston after the fed ex playoffs.

Smith, Scott, Leishman, Hedeki, Cam Young and who else?

I'm guessing Holvand and Keegan Bradley

So PGA Tour's response to LIV is to become LIV II?
Quote:
Nevertheless, the report also states Woods was among 15 top players he assembled to discuss changing the structure of the Tour, including a plan that could see 18 tournaments staged with 60 of the top players and $20 million purses. The events would feature no cuts, similar to the LIV Golf format.
So, say goodbye to your typical 144/156 player open event. Didn't WGC basically fail because of general disinterest in no-cut small field events?

Another development is PGA Tour moving away from non-profit stance.
Quote:
Another discussion at the meeting was the Tour renouncing its nonprofit status, which Woods and Rory McIlroy are said to support. The change would force the Tour to pay taxes but would give it much more freedom on how it operates, including allowing investors and equity firms to pump money into the Tour.
So what is the payback to an investor "pumping money" into the PGA Tour? Teams? Players becoming corporate shills? Marketing is one thing, but this would take it to an entirely different level.

LIV is trying to strangle players into becoming LIV mouthpieces, I don't think that would serve in the best interest of PGA Tour.

Patrick Reed setting up to be a nice test case to see how ANGC handles some of these LIVtards next April

my gut tells me they say thanks but no thanks (much like the R&A told Norman to take a hike during this summer's 150th Open anniversary celebrations at the Old Course)

i think there is no chance the MAGAtLIVers get into Augusta. If I had to guess, I think the majors will end up at...

Masters: No invite
PGA: lol
US Open: Full local qualifying
Open Championship: Full regional qualifying

The opens will have a tough time banning anyone and they likely should not anyway. The opens are opens....but give them no leg up on anyone and make them qualify as-if they where basically me

if you're ANGC you don't need the distractions. the Masters is a celebration for the game of golf. no reason to reward players trying to tear the game down

Lol at LIV "tearing the game down"

Have you seen the PGA Tour lately

Not exactly great viewing

R&A was totally wrong, I hope The Masters doesn't pull that petty stuff. It is like a playground fight at elementary school. Nanny nanny boo boo.

the Tour renouncing its non-profit status appears to be incorrect. more here:

Rory, Tiger, top players agree on vision for PGA Tour changes

in regards to keeping the vast majority of the game's top players on the PGA Tour, the proposed changes seem like a step in the right direction

However, according to multiple sources inside the Wilmington meeting, the report that the Tour would renounce its tax-exempt status and the report that the Tour would plan to privatize and sell equity in the new venture were inaccurate.
I'm speculating that the $ needed for the Rory-and-friends Tour is driving the possiblity of the PGA Tour going private to enable raising the additional funds necessary for the X number of $20M purses. The decision to go private is almost certainly not a done deal, but the possibility appears to be there.

For the top tier players this seems to be a great deal. For everybody else, we will need to wait and see.

how much of a stink can the middling players raise? they want a tour to play on don't they?

perhaps an Adam Hadwin, an Alex Noren, a John Huh, a Chad Ramey go to LIV but who gives a ****? those players don't move the needle, plus Norman knows that would be no way forward for his pet project

Basically split the current tour in 2. Is that what the fans want? Do no-cut limited field events "move the needle"? Let's wait and see what is proposed and digest it then.

If the idea is to gut the existing Tour because McIlroy is threatening to leave, that seems kinda stupid.

unfortunately, it doesn't matter what the fans want. it's what the stars want at this point as the Tour is facing an existential threat
