got an email from Titleist said their new series of drivers and fairway metals are the biggest improvement in years yada yada yada. g series they called it?

anyone try these yet? i don't plan on buying, but ive always loved the feel of Titleist clubs; my enthusiasm for the brand is unlike any other brand. if the new series even comes close to such fantastic improvement, they should be really good.

cloth or leather?
if leather: mild soap and water with a brush, magic eraser for tough stains, saddle soap and leather lotion to bring moisture back to the leather. magic eraser works great but will dry them out.

The best golfer you have never heard of...

Quote:
"We were out one night and somehow or another there was an altercation with the driver of another car," Johnny Weissmuller reported. "Seems like he thought Monty should have stopped and let him ahead of us. The guy started cussing and generally harassing us and walked up to the car and kept it up. Monty didn't say anything, he just got out of the car, walked up to the front of the guy's Lincoln, picked it up yea high and let it drop. One of the lights fell off and Monty just walked back to the guy and said, ‘What did you say?' The smart guy almost fainted as we drove off."

What RED said to clean your shoes, but I use mink oil to finish them. Mink oil has the added benefit of being waterproof. I use it exclusively on my golf shoes and work boots.

Quote:
Aficionados of leather will no doubt have heard of mink oil already - this is, after all, a common oil with which leather items like, say, leather boots are conditioned. This oil is extracted from mink fat that has otherwise been removed from pelts that are headed to the fur industry.

This is the most well-known benefit of how mink oil operates - as a leather conditioner it can soften leather considerably, replenishing the oils that can dissipate over time and cause the leather to dry out, much as with olive oil or neatsfoot oil.

As with many things in the American canon, this is really an invention that came long before. Namely, this was something that Native American nations like the Chippewa first came to observe, noticing the softening properties of mink fat. The mink grew in popularity rapidly after the post-World War 2 economic boom, whereby the byproduct of mink oil was mass-produced.

The reason for mink oil's softening and moisturizing properties is to do with the palmitoleic acid within its chemical makeup, very similar to human sebum. In this way, it can coat, moisturize, condition, and protect leather, especially full-grain leather or vegetable-tanned leather.

Has anyone golfed in Barbados? We will have a few days stay before traveling elsewhere. Currently booked on Apes Hill, but it seems very new. Green monkey also looks fantastic, but I believe both are private.

I did a quick search and got nothing.

I assumed that green monkey was the best, but we have a tight window and green monkey is private and multiple times more expensive than Apes Hill. AP is also private, but much cheaper to stay.

right on
the backdrop looks to be mindblowing

just learned the Apes renovation was captained by Ron Kirby, who also saved the ship at Old Head in County Cork after a clutch of misguided investor decisions left the course periously close to the rocks

It's 3 free rounds, which I won't use all of and a 3br villa, which we are trying to get friends to fill out.

Had surgery to fuse my big toe joint and also shorten the 2nd metatarsal. Hope to be ready for golf May 1.

I have offered a few people, but doubt any/all will be interested. It's only 3 days, but PM me if you're serious. I would hate rooms/rounds to go to waste.

Finally getting the itch to get back on the course. Finally hit 40 degrees yesterday, it's been a long ****ing winter.

Got a long weekend booked for a little more than three weeks out. Not looking promising for any preseason swings outside, may have to hit a simulator just so I'm not 100% rusty.

first nice afternoon around here in a while as well.
thinking about taking the whip out in the driveway for a bit just to move it around.
hopefully not found disturbing by the every day leaf blower neighbor toward the west

my life hasn't been as conducive to golf as it was once upon a time in a fairway

landing less than two rounds in the past 18 months (meaning i walked from 13 green directly to the parking lot after a shanky kneed afternoon of high 90s heat)
trips to the range in that span maybe five times more

wanting that to change in future months and find a repeatable swing giving me a reason to get new clubs

Come across this youtube channel the other day. Talks about the cost of pro golf at a mini tour level all the way up to the PGA tour. Quite interesting.

The last video I watched was very interesting. Broke down everything from cost to average score/handicap. Moved on to say basically it shouldn't be this way and is in the works of doing something about it.

RIP Dave Pelz

Even though my short game did not improve after I read your Short Game Bible, it was a masterwork of the genre and a harbinger of the analytics era to come.
