Why is everyone so hypersensitive about this crap? Maybe I missed something actually racist that he said.

It's more the sexism than the racism. The irony is that he was stereotyping the Korean women as all being called Lee and then a Lee won.

I mean honestly though can you name more than 5 golfers on the LPGA tour? If you can do you think the average golf fan can?

I get hes a complete idiot for actually saying that on the air in the hypersensitive about everything society we live in. He has to know you cant say that whether there was bad intentions or not. I also think it's a joke that that's basically a career ender.

I can't name 5. Also, prove that he didn't just say it because there are several good players named Lee without anything to do with their nationality. I think its all a joke. At worst he should have been pulled aside and told be more careful about this stuff and get back on the air.

Completely agree. Though it should be tv 101 to be extra-careful about that kind of stuff, it is amazing that Lee actually won the tournament. The crucifixion of this dude for a pretty harmless comment is ridiculous

if you watch the LPGA on the golf channel for an hour or so those names will be burned into your brain.

I can name 100 but I'm not sure that means anything other than I enjoy watching the LPGA. I prefer watching the women over the seniors, the web.com tour and most other golf programming.

More than anything else Haney's comments were just ignorant.

I don't even know what this argument is. If you watch something you know about it and if you don't watch something you don't know anything about it?

I didn't Google anything.

I could probably name 5 WNBA players but that would be about it. Taurasi, griner, bonner, Della donne, chiney, bird. I should watch more, WNBA is actually pretty good.

Haney's job is to commentate and help grow golf via his radio program. His comments did just the opposite. He stated that even though this is his business he could not name 5 LPGA players and that he didn't know the U.S. Open was taking place this week. That is totally incompetent for someone in his position. He could, and IMO should, be fired for that. Not so much the stupid comments he made.

Hell, westhoff might be able to name 5 LPGA players he has caddied for. He could almost certainly name 5 that he has met. He could definitely name 5 that outdrive him.

Oh haha.

Jaye Marie Green and Se Ri Pak are my favorites I've had in the pro-am's. Se Ri was super nice, really enjoyed talking with her.

I bolded the ones I recognize. Note: I only recognize Brittany because of this forum...

Would be interesting to see a Senior's LPGA mixed tournament, or would that be too humiliating for the female players?

A guy I play with often is going through the worst case of the sh**ks I've ever seen. He just has zero confidence with his irons and hybrids right now. It's hard to watch.

I'd offer him some advice (he's receptive) but I have no clue. I've been prone to sh**king chips but almost never on full shots. I did watch from behind once last round and it seemed like he got stuck - like he was coming from too far inside. He's barrel chested and has gained some weight.

If he doesn't figure something out I'm worried he might just give up the game which would be sad, he was a solid single digit for a long time and is just a great guy to be paired with.

Booker,

oh how i've been there. my nickname in the group i play with is Ravi....as in Ravi Shankar. my last confirmed case was over 5 years ago but s***ks are like herpes simplex. they can go dormant for extended periods of time and you never know when they'll pop back up.

i don't know his particular faults, but i know mine.

1. don't swing so ****ing hard
2. don't get your weight on your toes and move towards the ball during the swing.
weight moves toward the target. this can be a result of #1 above.
3. shutting the face way too much (which can be a result of coming too far from inside). the cause isn't having an open face, it's having a severely closed face at impact.
4. don't swing so ****ing hard
5. the ball is moving severely right, so i need to try to hit it left. the results are explained in #3 above.
6. don't swing so ****ing hard

My case isn't shank related specifically but last summer I got a terrible case of full swing yips during a golf trip and I've basically stopped playing because of it. I would describe it as a cross between Charles Barkley when he was on the haney project and a Jim furyk type move at the start of the down swing. I would do this weird helicopter twirl with the club as a I started coming which then got me all ****ed up at impact and i lost the ability to hit an iron or hybrid off the ground. It sucks and I've gone from being obsessed with golf for the past 10 years to turning down every tee time offer i get and not wanting to touch a club.

At my best I was hovering around a 10 HC, nothing special but I could at least go out and get the ball around the course without embarrassing myself. The last full round I played I shot 118...

booker, that's an awful feeling. poor guy.

some good advice already offered above... a couple of things I've done when things really went bad were:

1. put the ball farther back in my stance
2. only use clubs that I feel really confident with until I start feeling more confident overall. There has to be a couple that he can still hit decently (I hope)? The ones that just feel really good in your hand?
3. mentally thinking of a pendulum when I'm swinging - same swing back, same swing forward. for some reason it helps me when I get out of whack.

I was a 1.2 HC and was infected with the shanks for a couple months. This happened to me 3 different times several years ago where every time I was inside of 100 yards I would straight shank it and I mean every time. Many times I would hit driver in the fairway with 60 yards to the green. After 2 wedge shots I would be 80 yards from the green on an adjacent fairway. If I got inside 100 yards I started to pull out my 8 iron to hit a bump and run because I was scared to death of my wedge. Finally the last time I was able to overcome it rather quickly. I still don't know what it was that would cause it to happen, but one thing is for sure... Once it happens, it will be in your head and then you're screwed.

My instant fix for it was to swing left. Basically try my hardest to pull/slice the ball. I would go to the range and just pull shot after shot with a slightly open face. For me it was only my wedges that I would shank, so it was sort of like trying to hit a slight flop shot every time until I got it under control.

The only other advice I would offer him is to slow down his transition. Pause at the top before starting back down. This helps solve a lot of swing faults and almost everyone could benefit from it.
