I walk into the pro shop of my home course to check in and I'm followed in by three middle aged ladies. The fella at the counter greets them warmly and points them toward the ladies merchandise. One of them replies, "oh, we don't play golf." And then they walk out.

I made my first ever birdie today and couldnt be more stoked.

Had 4 GIR on the front today (2 bogies, a par, and a birdie) which is unheard of for me. Actually hit irons well but had a bunch of trouble off the tee and my chipping and putting is terrible.

Anyway my quest to break 100 is still ongoing because I cant avoid stupid blowup holes. I feel amazing though!

EDIT: almost forgot... On the 9th hole (par 4) I hit a drive in the tree line which I thought was ok... Ended up behind a tree root and couldnt do anything but pinch out sideways. Ended up pulling my 4i pretty ****ing hard into the trees to the left of the green. Couldnt find it and had to take a drop. Pull out my SW and hit a honing missile right at the flag. One hops into the stick, hits the ground and rolls right in for a bogey. First time Ive ever done that, too. After I was done posing with my hands in the air like a champ I go to pick up my club which I threw in celebration only to notice it was actually my 8i. I dont have individual spacers in my bag, but I also dont keep my 8i and SW anywhere near each other so idk how I managed that one.

No complaints here though!

Was having all kinds of trouble with my 3w where the ball was squirting to the right. Went to the range and noticed I was standing too far from the ball, now hitting it 220 straight. Amazing how 2 inches can make the difference.

Nice, thanks.

Another question: I've noticed sand bunkers are ridden with wasps. After extensive googling it seems like they're Cicada Killer Wasps. Apparently, there's a rule that allows for free relief with very specific stipulations. My question is: do the nicer/more expensive golf courses pay for pest-control for these critters? Or is it an environmental protection thing and they just leave them alone? I ****ing hate bees/wasps/all the likes of them.

Anyone with any bad experiences with these?

Was a par 4 coming off of a nice par on a 126 yard par 3 that I stuck a PW to about 25 ft and 2 putted. After the first 3 holes which were awful in every way possible I started hitting my irons better than I ever have. This hole was 420ish and I managed to hit my drive straight enough. Slight dogleg left and ended up ~150 out from the middle just in the rough. With a front pin this is usually a 9i but noticed I wasnt sitting up the best so I clubbed up to an 8, swung harder than usually to make sure I got enough club on it and managed to stick it to 8ft.

Yup, still excited.

Sounds so simple when you write it out doesn't it.

Many more to come I'm sure.

Well I had a birdie lip out 2 holes later... So...

Writting that out I realized I 3 putt bogied the previous hole.

got to play East Lake yesterday, had a blast. Greens are a bit slower then they'll be in 6 weeks for tour championship but still running around a 12.

Shot a birdie-free 79 which I was pretty please with having never played the course and only seen it on TV and having walked it once.

Highlights include:

#6) Island green par 3, hit 8 iron from 170 but bailed out a bit and hit the fat portion of the green with the pin in the location below. Burned the edge from 40 feet.

#12, #13, #14: Up and down from greenside bunkers on all 3 of these holes to scoop up most of the $$$ on the day.

#16: Ranked hardest hole on the PGA tour last year, I busted a driver and just had a 9-iron into the 460yd par 4. Left it in perfect spot 15ft below the hole but left the putt short on the lip.

#18: 231yd par 3 up the hill. Lazy swing with a hybrid left me way right under a tree 50 yds from the pin, up and down to card a 79.

Crazy respect gained for the top 30 who play this at par 70 instead of the 72 we played it at, on faster greens with some nasty pin locations.

Also the first time I'd ever walked a course, was pretty darn tired by the end of it. Can't imagine how the caddies do it every day carrying 2 bags.

So I was wondering the other day- why isn't it ok to roll your push cart onto or over the greens? A pull/push cart + clubs is going to weigh much less than a golfer will, the pull cart won't have spikes on it, and (this especially applies to push carts with 3 or 4 wheels) the little weigh that it has will be distributed more evenly and across more different contact points. Obv I would never even consider rolling a pull/push cart across the green, but it seems pretty clear that it would have a much smaller chance of damaging the green than simply walking on the green does.

Well, to pull one across the green you would also have to be walking on the green. Double the damage right there

I caddied for one day at a private club in Arizona. When I was on the first tee and realized I'd be CARRYING two bags my mind was blown. To add insult to injury, one guy was spraying it right all day and the other was hooking it left. That was my one and only loop. **** that ****.

Probably has more to do with the push cart falling over once in a while with clubs banging against the green and causing damage?

But to speak to your logic, golf as we know it isn't a sport unless golfers are allowed to walk on the green so... I don't think you can use the logic that anything that causes less damage than a person playing golf should be allowed on the green. There's really no reason to have a push cart on the green anyway. Once in a while it would be nice to just cut across but c'mon man.

Yea, I'm not suggesting that the whole "no push carts on the green" thing needs to change, it just struck me as strange that it became a rule in the first place.

Hey wiper have you ever played deer pass a little south of cleveland. It is super cheap on golf now wondering if it is garbage, would have to be pretty bad to not be worth $8 with a cart. Thanks for any info. Boulder creek looks nice by the way thanks, I am a cheap bastard so I will hold off until I have moneys

Just because I'm feeling my oats tonight.....

BRAG - shot 128 this weekend, 66-62. Home course though, about 6500 yards, par 71. 14 birdies 0 bogeys.

BEAT - lost money both days. Straight up wolf game fell all wrong yesterday, played robins today with 100% handicaps and fell all wrong once again.

push cart on the green = solid tracks over the same areas vs foot steps that are spaced out and mostly randomly (albeit over the same areas all day long)

Starting to practice again. Amazingly the ballstriking picked up really well except for the wedges and the driver. wedges are *okay* but have a tendency to be pulled left. Driver starts out dead straight and then fades about 20 yards every single time. Managed to work that out a bit. Got a couple of fun scrambles coming up that I want to be semi-prepared for or else they won't be fun.

Unfortunately this summer has taken a bit of a turn for me golf-wise due to some various issues. Mainly $$ issues but several other factors as well. Hope to play a few more rounds in the fall. But very pleased how easily everything came back the last couple range sessions after playing ~4 times the last 2 months.
