although this is from the last time I was a member at a club. I haven't played as often or as seriously since then. I plan to get it back down for the WSOP tho.

I have a question. I am entering my scores into that OOB website and it is spitting out a handicap....

It says that if > 20 scores are entered, the lowest 10 are taken. So, after you play 20 rounds, your handicap can't go up? Because if you take my last 300 rounds or so, I am surely about a scratch golfer despite the fact that is really not even close to my actual handicap.

Am I missing something?

i am pretty sure the guys at OOB are ironing this stuff out. i believe your handicap is calculated over your last 20 rounds to keep it sort of current.

after updating some of the ratings/slopes on the courses I have played since I started tracking my handicap, I am now a 3.7 handicap with an 84.9 scoring average. Okaaay!

your hc is unofficial right now because they have only so few rounds for you. it's basically an average of your two best rounds right now. if your next round is 80 or so, your handicap will jump to 6+.

the thing to remember, in the beginning your handicap is like your 90th-percentile best potential. once it's established, it will be closer to 60th-percentile.

i'm not really sure what is going on, but POKEROMGLOL has to have more than 2 scores in because there are no 2 scores that average to XX.9.

well i have 9.5 sores entered, and i just read about the scoring average, and it is calculating it funny. As for the handicap, yeah it looks like it will be going up to a 5 or 6 unless i play well.

Last 20 scores sounds right also. I guess handicaps are just weird. It is ALWAYS lower than what you shoot over par, unless you play just incredibly easy courses.

it's not a simple average, but with only 8 scores entered for now, only the two lowest count. oobgolf gives a more detailed view of the calculation. here's pokeromglol's. i hope he doesn't mind the following link, and if he does, mods please remove it.
