This is pretty dumb.

They are among the best golf players in the world, with everything that entails of talent, training, sacrifice and hard work, which is why they're getting "paid damn well to do it".

They do not owe you or anyone else to look according to some ideal you prefer or to be in supreme fitness - they just need to bring results, which they do, or they wouldn't be where they are.

If they were really put together on purpose to be the "funny fat group", then that is just an amazingly bad decision on so many levels.

Did you know Carl Petterson got in shape, lost his game, went back to being fat, and started winning again?

Sooooo. One guy shoots 3 strokes lower them the field 15 players under par. Looks like a us open to me.

I saw so few 20-30 foot par putts which frankly are a staple of this tourney. If you par the course correctly at 71/72 these guys absolutely tore this place up. I hear them say this was the lowest first round average since Olympia Fields at like 72.8 or something. And that includes like 30 guys who have absolutely zero chance to do anything besides shoot 75-80 every day. What a joke
The par of a course or hole doesn't really matter. Who shoots the lowest score wins. Who cares how many "under" they are?

Yeah, I thought Berman took it a little far. It was pretty cringeworthy listening to Berman talk about fat guys being good at golf.

I enjoy the funny USGA pairings but a fatties group is over the line.

Maybe they could have paired Every, Singh and DJ to have a druggie group.

My metabolism is off the charts, I eat like a garbage disposal, it is what it is.

Co-worker didn't show up today, he runs our freight department at work. Buddy comes up to me and says "he went to the US Open, shhhhhhh." Freight rep called him up last night and had an extra ticket. LUCKY SOB!

USGA better figure something out or Kaymer might run away with the thing.

Ken Duke with an epic par on 9. Tough break of ball landing and rolling just in front of a small patch of monkey grass. Precedes to putt lefty into bunker and make the bunker shot.

Course playing even easier today than yesterday. Nothing you can do about the rain making the greens even softer and more receptive but WTF at moving the tees up on like half the holes.

Tournament not delivering. Not really feeling it thus far, and I think Kaymer shoots around -18.

Agree, pretty disapointing so far. The no rough/native area setup doesn't really provide the challenge you come to expect from a US Open with the greens this soft. What makes this tourney fun usually is that you can see some epic blowups and a razor thin margin for error. That just isnt the case the way the course is setup.

The cut is likely going to be 144 which is probably one of the lowest all time for this tourney.

ETA - I guess 143 is the record done 1 time at LOLympia Fields

Definitely an extremely disappointing Open so far. Someone getting to be -8 after their first 25 holes in the US Open is a joke

The really sick part about Kaymer's score/round is that the front nine is definately the easier of the two nines. Good chance he gets it to -10 by the end of the day.
