1. depends, but 8 - 12k baht/month. Some might include power/water and others will make you pay on top, so if you run AC constantly expect to pay another 3k+ per month.

There are plenty of places you can rent month to month basis. Lending it for a longer period of time will get you a better deal.

2. It depends on the place

3. not sure but id guess about 1000 baht per month

4. Dunno

5. I think its all done on monthly pre-paid cards

6. Its pretty good, but depends on taste.

7. Depends what you like, but Bangkok and Phuket are usually the popular other options.

8. about $1k USD and you can live comfortably. It can be lower depending on where you live, what you eat and drink. You will have more fun if you arent trying to scrimp by all the time and can eat/drink what you like.

Minimum $300/month somewhere that is not completely busto location. One place that I think has been mentioned before and gets decent reviews is Smith Residence. (chiangmaismithres.com) I don't know that exact neighborhood, but I would recommend checking out this place.

Depends on the place. Regular rentals don't include anything, not even furniture. Serviced apartments on the other hand, include furniture and may include Internet or at least make it super easy to sign up for Internet. Serviced apartments are, of course, considerably more expensive.

Shorter time frame = higher price. High season = higher price. If you want to rent for 2 months during high tourist season, it will cost you substantially more than low season/long term.

No. But it is acceptable. If you're coming from a large Euro city, you will find the nightlife scene to be small, boring, and unimaginative. If you are coming from some little rural town, you will think it's just great.

On your budget, you will not be partying much at all.

It depends on why you want to come to Thailand in the first place. It sounds like you're on a budget. If so, Chiang Mai is a very good choice. That said, I'm a beach bum myself, I would never to go to Thailand to be in CM even though I've spent a substantial amount of time there. If you want beaches but still fairly cheap, consider Krabi or maybe Hua Hin.

So, give us details on why exactly you want to come to Thailand and you will get some better responses on where you should live.

It sounds like you are a short timer comparing yourself to long timers. You can't expect to come to LOS for 2 months and live as cheaply as someone that has been in LOS a long time.

500 euro is really living on the edge. It is surviving, not living.

After 300euro for all housing costs (place+internet+A/c+laundry+etc), you are left with 200 euro for living. (And that is assuming you completely ignore other important expenses like health insurance, visas, etc.)

Anyway, that leaves you with 280 baht per day. At that price, you will probably stick to street food. (25-70 for cheapest meals. 3 meals per day=75-210baht.) So you can see that basic food takes up a big chunk of your budget.

Then if you want to look at titties at a gogo one night, ONE drink will be 135 baht (someone correct me on exact CM price right now.) Regular bar will be 1/2 that price, but at a regular bar you buy a drink for a girl so it will still cost you about the same.

And if you want to actually do anything like ride elephants, zip lines, any tours - expect to pay about 1000-3000 baht, which will just kill your budget completely.

Basically, 500 euro is enough to survive long term in LOS if you spend enough time figuring out all the cost savings measures and are very good at restraining yourself from doing most things outside the house.

1. anywhere between 4k and 50k. look on houseinchiangmai.com. a nice 6k/mo place w/o ac and internet expenses is baan thai on nimman (best locations in the city).

2. it's standard. You can by a cat cdma card or ais 3g and get internet wherever you are though.

3. most places will hook it up for u for next to nothing. just pay the monthly fees. if they won't, don't live there.

4.Debatable. 1 guy that was paying a ton for TOT moved to baan thai and thinks that internet is better. Really depends on where u go. None are that great, but dcs are not consistent.

5. Dunno. A lot of places you stay will offer free internet. U can buy a cat cdma or ais card as back up and pay that month to month.

6. Depends what you mean by party. tons of outdoors bars with a lot of promotion girls. they all close at 1am though. clubs arent as good as bkk, better than phuket imo. when u do go to clubs they are mostly filled with thai people.

7. phuket if you want beaches. bkk if u want everything else.

8. you can live on that amount easy. but it won't be that fun. especially if you're hanging around poker players. if u want to go out 1 / week, eat western food every now and again, and live an comfortable place it will cost around 1400 usds.

After briefly investigating google maps I think the best way to get there is to take the BTS to Rachathewi (right after Siam) and then taxi the rest of the way. The stadium is also not that far from the Impact Arena for those of you thinking about going to the PTT Tennis Finals. Definitely try and make it out if you can. We'll obviously be going out afterward.

Hey guys, correction. The muay thai stadium is Rajadamnern boxing stadium. I believe the fights start at 7:00pm Hope to see you all there. Beans I will text you the stadium name so you can telll people.

lol wtf

most touristy places there are going to be people trying to talk to you and sell you ****, just ignore them, don't befriend them and invite them back to your hotel/apartment
