how long have you been in thailand for?

and what are you going to do when you decide to leave thailand?
10-04-2010 , 10:35 AM
at 18 year old: do not buy a bike, and definitely don't try to cross into cambodia with one.

take the bus when moving between cities and rent a different bike in each place.

BBQ AT HOUSE SPAIN WEDNESDAY AT 7-8pm. After that we can go to Patong or any other place. All 2+2 are welcome. House is on the road from the chalong circle to Rawai and turn right just when you see the Lotus Tesco on your left. We can even meet there at 8pm in front of Tesco if you don´t know where the house is. see you there!!!

all you have to do is pay an overstay fine at the airport and you can leave. maximum fine is 20k baht.

And maybe spend some time in a thai jail, good luck.

Ookok since there has been so much talk of extending/overstaying Thai visas, I'm now unveiling the Savage Poker (patent pending) system for never having to leave the country and always having a valid visa stamp.

I'm putting together the instructions and software now, very reasonably priced at $199.

disclaimer: only tested at Suvarnabhumi, individual results may vary

you sure?

yah, if you overstay long enough its definitely a risk you take, but worry no more w/ my Savage visa renewal kit!!

The British Embassy is warning against overstaying too long (think it was 140 days or something but i'm too lazy to look). They claim the thai gov't will detain you, fine u, and deport u if u overstay whatever that magical number of days is.

There's is like under 1/100 chance of you been jailed if you go to airport with 20k baht fine and ticket no matter how long you have overstayed.

It's all hearsay and the law has not changed. Lots of people have left and paid the fine since Pattaya One Newspaper posted the story.

42!

Thats all bull**** fearmongering by ThaiVisa. If you read the threads there are a bunch of people all saying they left with X years or months overstay and not having problems. Not a single person has come there saying they were arrested or their loved one was arrested etc.

ThaiVisa always does this kind of thing to get people to their website. This is a new low for them but it is perfectly in line with how they operate their website.

1. Send out scary emails
2. Watch people flock to the website
3. Profit

I'm currently like two months overstay and I'm not worried at all.

I missed this.

+1,000,000

It is PattayaOne's first story and they are now a sponsor of ThaiVisa. They are both trying to profit from making us scared. Don't buy into it. No Thai officials have corroborated their story and nobody has been arrested. It is complete BS.

+1, seems silly to take such an unnecessary risk.

While we're on the topic of visas, there's rumors that it's insanely easy to get an unlimited entry 1 year visa from a small town in the UK...

are there any other embassies that will grant the same visa this easily? (I just don't wanna go all the way to the UK).

perth consulate, but think they are about to close down?

Rules in Thailand get enforced gradually stricter. 5 years ago, lots of people were using fake teaching certificates to get jobs. 5 years ago, lots of people were getting teaching jobs in BKK with no degree. Then, slowly, these things are becoming a rarity, and people are getting deported if caught with fake degrees. Oh... did you already forget how much easier visa rules used to be 5 years ago?

I think the same will happen with this overstay stuff. Thailand is moving into 1st world, and they don't need mostly scumbag poor tourists that try to live there. The place is already overcrowded with tourists. They can increasingly rely on real tourists that come for 3 weeks blow 6K, and leave so they will not be missing out much. They will slowly tighten the screw as they slowly tightened the screw on other things.

On a side note, I bet the same thing will happen with lax banking rules. It is easy to hide money in LOS right now. When reporting standards get implemented and information starts to get exchanged b/w US and LOS, the people avoiding taxes and hiding assets for years will be screwed and it's one of those things you can't just fix or stop doing because you are liable for the past.

yep perth is closing on the 14th of this month. last day to put in visa applications is the 12th.

really loving the visa with the freedom and freedom from any hassle after getting it. obviously few days(own fault, booked too long a trip) in frigging cold perth and the 2x 6 hour flights were pretty boring
