your best bet is to get the debit card for neteller or find a US expat that is making enough to save $. transfer to his US bank for the dong. works out +EV for both parties as you save in atm fees/unfavourable exchange rates and the same for him and also takes away the trouble of him trying to take a decent amount of money out the country which can be problematic.

I was talking to someone who knows the house owner by chance. He said that he wanted to raise the house so they moved the frame to a neighbors property than moved it back when they filled it with dirt.

Can someone do a $300 swap with me: I send $300 on Stars for cash (VND or USD is fine)? Also, I'll be able to do more in the following days/weeks if you so desire.

My account is new but I've been a 2p2 lurker for some time and am friends with a lot of the reputable guys from this thread, most of whom I have also done trades with. I've met a lot of them in the New World game or just through mutual friends. Please PM me if interested.

P.S. I've also been living in HCMC for sometime (about 4 years now) and can give anyone perspective on the life and nuances of living in Vietnam that few people get insight into. I'm willing to answer most questions or discuss with anyone interested.

Hey guys, considering moving to Saigon for a couple months and am looking for a serviced apartment with good internet. Any help would be great, pretty flexible with budget and location, though District 1 is probably preferred. Thanks!

Hi Mystik,

I can help you get money online if that's what you were looking for. Are you in HCMC?

Hi, haven't really scrolled through the thread, but was living in Nha Trang last year and will be going back, after the WSOPE, for 6 months in Nha Trang. Do any grinders live over there?

Last time, I didn't bother trying to find other poker players, mainly making some Vietnamese friends and partying with some foreigners, but grinding a solo life online. Would be nice to meet a few 2 + 2 grinders this time around...

Peace

Hi, I have been posting in the Cambodian thread about Nha Trang, so wanted to post over here as well the comparisons I was making with Sihanoukville and Nha Trang...

Funny how in comparison to Nha Trang, Vietnam, both seem to be seen from the outside, similar places... They both have a beach, lots of tourists, bars, nightlife... But while I LOVE Nha Trang, I can't stand spending anytime in Snooky...

I can see some people who are more in the hooker scene to enjoy more Snooky than Nha Trang, because while there are still a few working girls in Nha Trang, it is easier to find a girlfriend, casual or serious. Where as Snooky is more of a prostitute scene, with the dirty old men that it brings along... Same thing with the travelers I met : they were young or very old in Snooky, where Nha Trang brought some more interesting people there...

Food is WAY better in Nha Trang and in Vietnam in general, as opposed to Cambodia. The weather is more mild in Nha Trang as well. Internet connection is also better : I only lost the connection once in 2 months in Nha Trang, while losing it every single day in Cambodia. I obviously had an internet stick for backup, but that could only be reliable about 95% of the time...

As far as poker goes, I did not play live in Sihanoukville - just online - but heard that the game (while not the toughest by any means), was infested with regs, mainly foreigners. So would suggest Naga World as far as live poker goes, for I found that game to be very soft. Also, since the 5-10 game wasn't running anymore at Nagaworld (at least in May), it made the 1-2 game more of a 2-5 game, for a few players would buy in for more of the min of 200$ (one even bought in for 4000$ and proceeded to lose all of it in just under 6 hours...).

hey all!
I am studying in Can Tho for 4 months on exchange and need some help getting situated here. I havent played online since BF in the U.S. (I play mostly live 5/10-10/20 plo) and was wondering what the situation for getting a bank account and playing online here would be like. If anyone has advice how to go about the whole process please let me know, as I would like to take the opportunity to play some online while I am outside of the U.S. Also, if anyone knows of live games in Can Tho (or maybe HCMC if I am on vacation there) please fill me in.

I am also open to meeting up with fellow 2+2ers so if anyone decides to come down to Can Tho I would be willing to show people around

Opening a bank account is easy. Go to HSBC with 2 forms of ID.

Stars can be d*cks when trying to convince them that you are staying here though. You need one or possibly more of the following - copy of lease in your name, some kind of bill in your name with your address, and/or Vietnamese bank statement. They probably have to call you on the phone too (when I did it, it had to be a land line which was really hard to find in Vietnam and then sit and wait for them to call).

Your questions are well discussed throughout this thread.
