I sent a monitor from Cambodia to Thailand last year inside a suit case, the suit case was cracked when it arrived. Moped - there are many places that rent mopeds. Beloe are some i found after a quick search. Many foreigners just drive one without a license as your going to get boned anyway if you get pulled over with or without one. Thing is traffic cops are getting bolder/harsher and just out right lies and aggressive now. Most of the time, settling it with 200k would work but its a crap shoot now. They will almost always state some absurd number first.

If you are only going to be here for 3 months, i would just rent. Unless u dont care if you use a cheap moped which come out cheaper but for 3 months, I wouldnt bother. VN is a very judgmental society so with a cheap old ride; you would have to deal with that also but if your white, it isnt bad. A nouvo/airblade should go for around 1.2million a month.

As for not knowing a thing about riding. All I will say is that it is a big bycycle with a non powerful engine. If you are confident in your bike riding skills, to me it was easy. Just start slow. So many people like u have started to ride in vn and just think they can just start easily and end up crashing because they just go normal speed at first. I was like you, started mopeding in vn. Just take it slow and get used to it. No problems for me what so ever and now I can zip and weave through traffic. if you have to go at 5kmph, do it and get used to it. This isnt an endorsment to do it. Like i said its a big Bycycle imo. up to u.

So the asia internet cable has been broken for some days now. Reports has been that vnpt is in an utter **** fest, Popular ftp is slow. Vietel for some reason is uneffected.

So for those who rely on internet, I highly suggest to change. It just makes sense anyway as vietel 3g never had problems by all anyway.

Budget is 1-3k usd for decent 1 bedroom close to beach, plan on grinding a lot over scoop and doing some scuba and whatever other fun water activities. Maybe try and date a couple locals but no big deal if nothing comes of it. Any advice? everyone makes it sound like rent is so cheap a 'nice' place for ~500 usd per month in a place like hcmc or nh trang. but then iam looking on airbnb and there is very few place if anything at all in that range. everything is 1-2k per month. are there any other websites that are good to look at prior to arriving?

i know everyone said to go to district 1 stay in a place for 2-3 days and look around and find something in person. i already know if i go to hcmc i want to stay in the 'expat' zone, can anyone clarify exactly which district that is?
