I used to have the mindset that living in a country with a corrupt government would be terrible, that you're subject to the harsh whim of authority for any reason. But really it seems like it'd be a hell of a lot nicer to be able to pay off the police for what could be serious violations in other "first world" countries.

This is very true.
I am 1000x more afraid of the police in the US than the ones in Mexico.

As long as you are more likely to commit a crime than be a victim of a crime, it's a net plus. Well, unless they just extort you for nothing because they see you have money.

If you are walking around Mexico dressed like rich person and flaunting your money, I think you deserve to get extorted. These people are so poor that words can't even describe, to come here and act like that is unacceptable. It's like rubbing it in their face.

There is this one guy that lives in my building and actually drives a very nice car and drives around with armed guards. That makes me sick. Why can't you just act like a normal person?

Never had the opportunity to use Skrill or Neteller (turned 18 2 days after BF... lol), but what would you guys recommend as the main wallet to use? I was leaning more towards skrill as it has the multiple currency account and the transaction fees to send / receive money seems pretty low. $15k every 3 months in transactions doesn't seem to bad.

Also the Skrill debit/prepaid mastercard, Just use that like a normal bank debit card? Miguel said that the bank will give me a debit card the same day, but was just wondering if it is better of to just use Skrill for all payments.

I talked to a rep today, and they said that they recently made it so that all VIPs of Skrill can get the card around the world. So as long as you can do like 15k transactions (cashouts / deposits) on avg every 3 months you can haz card

Also has anyone who went to rosarito worried about their safety? It seems like everyone loves rosarito and ppl mention as long as you not buying drugs or getting into trouble, you will have 0 issues at all? When i told someone that im heading there, they told me im pretty nuts at going there and that i should stay in canada instead. Of course without skrill, its a pain in canada.
I'm at Oceana Del Mar and the rent goes up from 850 mo (2 bedroom) to 1850 in the summer months.

As far as safety, I walk my dog at night and the entire town is pretty much empty. There are more cops roaming the streets than anything.

Regarding summer rent ... I am tentatively thinking of heading to Rosarito around May 1 and then staying there through the summer for about 5-6 months before deciding whether to stay longer. Should I expect rent to cost twice as much for half of that time period, or would I receive the lower (regular) rate throughout because I am planning to be there during off-peak months as well?

As far as a lease goes (three months minimum to get back on PokerStars, right?), is that pretty easy to get with first month's rent and a deposit? What if I end up deciding to rent a room from somebody? Would that work as well, or would I need to rent from an organization to have a lease that PokerStars would accept?

Thanks.

I am not a VIP w skrill and requested the card and got it. Prob is Mexico mail system so lame, requested card in January, got it in March. No way to ever put US address for Skrill. They are supposed to send the pin 10-14 days after the card but I haven't got it yet, & their support said they can't give it to me, just have to wait. And for the guy paying 1850 peak months def rip off. I could see if you were only here busy months, but with at least 6 month lease no way you should pay 1k more.
