Hello, can you tell me how much is the tax in Malta? Because I found that amount between 5 and 15%. In other forums I read that can be as high as 35%, in other forums it says that it is better to set up a company to pay less tax, a user who is located in Malta I could explain in detail how you pay taxes in Malta? Or if it's already been explained to show me a link? Because in this thread there are more than 200 pages, I just look at random, but not found. thanks!

Put your country on UK in settings might work. Not sure but that's what I did for my Xbox. Setting country on 'other' works as well.

Does anyonee know of a good maltese internet broker or bank that let you trade most european markets and the other major interenational markets. Or an international one you can open an account with from Malta?

Also does anyone know if there is a capital gains tax on dividends and profits from stock in Malta.

Thanks,
BD

Malta is one of the best countries in the World for investing/trading because there is no tax on foreign capital gains or dividends. Also it is legal to have undeclared offshore bank accounts and EU citizens can live here with very minimal hassle.

So if you are trading, then you want to get residency here but a non Maltese bank account. Tax arises when you bring cash into a Maltese bank account beyond a certain threshold. For additional details I can refer you to a good accountant, Aldo Vassallo. Google him plus malta to find his website.

If you are interested in a physical offshore investment bank which will take poker players as clients then I know of a possibility. But if you prefer lower fee investment accounts then look into online accounts like interactive brokers.

These requirements have changed a couple of times in the last few years. I have been grandfathered into the old scheme so I don't know the details of the newest scheme. But you can start your research here as it describes the recent changes to the non-EU residency scheme (now called "Global Residence Programme (GPR)"):
http://www.aldovassallomalta.com/en/...s-launched.htm

That website belongs to an accountant with much knowledge on this subject and other poker players as clients so if you're serious about moving here then he'll help you with the process and he has reasonable rates. Good luck.

moving to malta in december due to job reasons, will be working in birkirkara - so some questions although i have already been to malta for a couple of times (working reasons as well) but not lived there for an extended period of time ..

i know pretty much all the life is goin on in sliema, st. julian, spinola bay and close by - would you guys recommend to get a flat just there or somewhere in the center of the island (was thinking about balzan or attard, maybe even birkirkara but i think the other places are a little bit better to live)and i dont want to spend more than 600 a month on a flat, seaview is none of my priorities but bbq on a terrace is one.

i probably need a car (as old and cheap as possible) over there, the busses are tilting me to no end and taxi drivers at work arn't my favorite kind people to hang out with on a daily basis. so is it easy to get cars quick or lots of bureaucracy needed?

thanks for input

Greetings.

Just a quick post to let you know I'm currently lurking. I'm doing this the hard way and reading the thread from page 1. Now up to page 73, so I should be up to speed by the end of the week

What's struck me so far is the preoccupation with HAVING to live in or around St Julians. I suppose that's not too surprising considering that most contributors seem to be "twentysomethings", but next time I post I hope to be able to give you some alternatives to think about.

Tight lines
